Chapter 676: Chapter 640: The Summit of Extremes, Land of the Immortals (Part 1)

On the naval ship.

Chloe Stephens reached out and grabbed Len Hawthorne, who had just climbed up.

Helicopters constantly circled in the sky, searching for people who had fallen into the sea.

Fortunately, these were not ordinary people. Everyone from the Slaughter Squad and the prisoners they brought along were found.

As soon as Ethan Coates came down, he rushed to Len Hawthorne’s side: "Young Master Hawthorne, look over there, what a huge whirlpool."

Chloe and Len both looked in that direction at the same time.

The small whirlpool slowly grew larger.

"Move the boat," Len Hawthorne immediately ordered.

The helicopters in the sky approached the whirlpool.

Suddenly, a burst of gale surged from under the whirlpool, and the helicopters instantly moved away from it.

Chloe and Len clearly felt that the gale was extraordinary.

"Won’t we go to check it out?" Ethan Coates felt that the whirlpool was unusual.

Len thought of the shadow he encountered underwater and those words, which made him not want to explore what was inside the whirlpool.

Len’s eyes darkened: "Let’s go."

Ethan Coates looked at Chloe, who also didn’t react, so he reluctantly ordered to return.

Then they would send another aircraft to pick up the people.

*

Shore dock.

The Slaughter Squad’s special aircraft had arrived at the scene.

The dawn had risen from the sea level.

It cast a warm, soft glow on the tall, slender figure standing in front of them.

Chloe sat on the side, with a black cat lying next to her.

A cat and a person were just staring at the bustling movement in front of them.

It seemed that only the two of them were redundant.

"Meow."

The black cat narrowed its eyes and lazily called out.

Chloe didn’t respond to the black cat.

"Meow."

Chloe stood up and walked over, "Since you’re alright, I’ll go back first."

"To Dark City?"

"I still need to find some medicine for treatment, this kind of medicine can only be found at the summit of extremes," Chloe looked towards the back, "Lynch Family’s medicine collectors have arrived."

Just a few hours ago, she had contacted Old Lynch.

"Be careful, as soon as I send these people in for trial, I’ll come to find you."

"Okay."

"Little Chloe, aren’t you going to give me a farewell kiss?"

Chloe stepped away, then suddenly turned back, looking at the smiling, handsome man. She hooked her hand, imitated his movement, and touched his face twice with her face.

Len Hawthorne: "..."

Matter-of-factly retreating, a person and a cat walked towards the helicopter that had just landed.

Ethan Coates shook his head: "Young Master Hawthorne, look at what you’ve taught her."

"Get back to work."

"..."

Although Len Hawthorne was reluctant, he didn’t dare to forcibly keep her by his side.

At sea, it seemed to be even more dangerous than in Dark City.

Thinking of those words, Len’s eyes darkened once again.

*

Dark City.

Entrance.

Chloe followed the Lynch Family’s medicine collector inside, where Old Lynch and the others were already waiting.

Seeing Albert Webb and Daniel Lynch there, she raised an eyebrow.

"Chloe!"

Daniel Lynch was very excited to be able to come along this time!

This was his first time participating in collecting medicine in his life.

And it was at the extreme edge of Dark City, the summit of extremes.

That corner was a junction point, a no-man’s land.

Four seasons took turns within a day.

The climate was harsh.

Even ancient martial artists couldn’t stay there, truly doubting whether there were any plants and trees surviving there.

"As soon as everyone arrives, we set off," Old Lynch didn’t exchange pleasantries with Chloe, and launched directly.

Chloe Stephens didn’t like to waste time talking either; she said to get going and off they went.

Upon reaching the Summit of Extremes, all they could see were mountains and windblown sand.

The howling Ghost Wind made wailing noises.

Even ancient martial artists wouldn’t dare come to such a place at night.

"It’s raining!"

The medicine collector casually took out a raincoat to put on. After a while, the snow came, and hail pelted down with a crackling sound.

Thunder and lightning appeared out of thin air.

After a while, it became as hot as a furnace.

It was almost a different season every hour.

If it wasn’t rain, it was wind; if it wasn’t hot, it was cold.

Not knowing how far or long they had been walking, or how many storms they had endured, Daniel Lynch was struggling, even falling sick along the way.

With not a blade of grass in sight, they couldn’t even find a cave to take shelter in.

They walked from dawn to nightfall.

The storms they had endured in one day were more than the total they had encountered in a decade.

They really didn’t know Dark City had such a ghostly place; it was a perfect place for torturing people!

"There’s a light up ahead!"

"No, it’s a row of houses."

Daniel Lynch widened his eyes in amazement: "Damn, that’s impressive, building such a large-scale house in this kind of place."

"Let’s go closer and take shelter."

"Could it be that ghosts and monsters have taken root here? Grandfather, I’m really scared of ghosts." Daniel Lynch grabbed the old man’s sleeve, almost bursting into tears.

Old Lynch scolded him in frustration, "You’re hopeless. Do you think it’s easy to earn several hundred million? Not to mention, once you’re out, you might get divided by that little girl."

Chloe glanced over: "I’m not deaf."

"Chloe, I’m just letting this kid know that our money isn’t that easily earned. Otherwise, this kid will go out and spend money lavishly, and the few pennies he has will be spent in a flash. Back in our day, we didn’t have a single penny to spare, we ate salted vegetables, wore patched clothes, and went barefoot to war. We were just swallowing snow when we were hungry. That was a life of suffering!" Old Lynch couldn’t help but wipe away a tear as he spoke.

Chloe walked past him, "Cry again, and you’ll owe me money."

Old Lynch: "..."

How could he get a break, he had to repay the life-saving grace and still owe money in the process.

Daniel Lynch was puzzled: "Grandfather, didn’t you say you earned several hundred million?"

Exposed, Old Lynch glared at his grandson, "That was just a rough estimate."

Albert Webb also curiously asked: "Uncle Lynch, how much did you really make?"

Old Lynch glared, "Why do you have to mention that, stepping on an old man’s sore spot, huh!?"

The medicine collector who walked by mercilessly debunked Old Lynch’s carefully hidden lie, "Miss Chloe Stephens said she won’t cover food and accommodation costs, just felt that Old Lynch is too lazy, and his bones have aged, so she asked him to come out voluntarily to exercise his muscles and bones."

Old Lynch: "..."

Albert Webb and Daniel Lynch: "..."

*

They approached the place with the lit lamps and could clearly see the row of mansions in front of them, their eyes widening.

"It’s been rooted here for several hundred years, hasn’t it?"

"Judging by the traces, it’s about that long. But why haven’t the people of Dark City discovered this place?" Albert Webb wondered.

Daniel Lynch said, "If you were training, would you come to a place where crows wouldn’t even shit? No way."

Albert Webb shook his head.

"That’s right, you’re not fighting the sky; you’re fighting people. In a place without human habitation, who would come here to suffer?" Only a fool would.

This place had no beasts and no vegetation, just barren land.

Entering the edge of the area, seeing the ghastly weather, people would run off right away, who else would be stupid enough to venture deeper?

"Knock on the door."

"Crackle!"

Suddenly, huge hailstones fell from the sky.

With that, they hurriedly ran to take shelter under the eaves.

Just in time, the door opened, and out walked a young man dressed in dark blue, a fierce look in his eyes.

Not someone to be messed with.

An ancient person?

Seeing how the man was dressed, Daniel Lynch shivered, quickly grabbing his grandfather’s gown, "Grandfather, could it be that I really guessed it right, it’s ghosts and monsters here!"

"Stop talking nonsense. Didn’t you see the shadow he has? Do ghosts have shadows? Besides, go up there and feel if there’s a temperature. If that doesn’t work, try splashing a basin of dog blood on him!" Old Lynch offered some bad ideas.

The young man coldly stared in Old Lynch’s direction.

"What kind of people are you? This place belongs to immortals and isn’t somewhere you mere mortals can trespass."

Place of Immortals?

Old Lynch and Daniel Lynch instinctively looked at the plaque above the main entrance.

There was no plaque and no signs of any kind.

Place of Immortals? In their opinion, it was more like a Land of Dog Shit.
