Chapter 592: Chapter 556: Contribution, Pie Falling from the Sky (3 more updates)
After the Punitive Expedition Conference.
Chloe Stephens planned to stay in the Imperial Capital for a while.
With Granny Hawthorne gone, Chloe did not trust Len Hawthorne to be on his own.
Len, who had joined the Slaughter Squad, seemed to numb himself through work.
Chloe didn’t even go to see off Adam Stephens and his group when they left.
She had returned to the Aerospace Institute on this day to visit Matthew Patterson.
Before she could enter the building, she saw a disheveled and distraught Langley Ferguson wandering outside, chased back and forth by security.
Turning around and spotting Chloe, Langley Ferguson rushed over, eyes filled with desperation, like a drowning man clinging to a straw.
Chloe steered clear of him, which coincided with Logan Thomas emerging from the building to greet her.
Logan’s face darkened. "Langley Ferguson, what do you want? We only fired you, we didn’t stop you from returning to Sheffield City."
"Chloe, I know you were behind this, I didn’t do anything wrong. Please ask Old Master Patterson to let me return. I’ve contributed so much to the research. Why would you fire me over a few careless remarks, and reset all my academic credits..."
Even if he went back to Sheffield City, he could only be a regular graduate student. Other labs simply wouldn’t dare to accept him.
Chloe gave him a cold glance.
Logan looked appalled, "You think you just made a few benign comments? You used photos to defame Chloe. Are you the only researcher here? Is your career the only one that matters? What logic! Compared with Chloe’s accomplishments, you are nothing!"
"She used her identity and her influence to steal other people’s results, I’m confident that she must have stolen Ella Stephen’s research results. Don’t be fooled by her!" Langley Ferguson, completely unhinged, shouted these words.
Chloe continued to look at him dispassionately.
Logan scoffed, gave a cold look to the security guards and said, "Throw him out, and don’t let this garbage get near the Aerospace Institute again, lest he tarnish this place."
Two security guards immediately came forward and fished Langley out.
Not resorting to violence was already an act of mercy on him.
"Miss Chloe Stephens, Old Master Patterson is awaiting your presence."
Logan withdrew his gaze and ushered Chloe inside.
Matthew, with an electronic equipment in hand, was testing its remote control features. Spotting Chloe, the excited smile returned to his face, "Chloe, come over and take a look. These robots which you brought here are quite reliable, their embedded chips are working really well, even the combat skills are showing impressive results!"
After Chloe had left the mountain county, she commissioned Black Cat to teleport a few robots directly to the designated locations, which were later brought here by Patterson’s team.
At first, she thought they might come in handy at the Punitive Expedition Conference, but with the incident involving Steve Hawthorne, she had no time to keep an eye on Carter Crowley’s every move.
"We should explore an opportunity to test them outside," Chloe glanced at the experimental results and said.
Matthew responded, "Some great leaders from above have shown up, specifically for these robots. Since these machines are modified by you personally, any demonstration requires your approval."
"Anything that can be exhibited, feel free to do so."
Matthew smiled and said, "Logan, you should also get ready."
Logan immediately went to prepare.
Matthew pointed to a file set aside and wore a serious expression, "Some people from above are eyeing these batch of robots, Chloe. These are the issued documents. I have sent a report noting these batch of robots as your possession, to make it clear to the above-mentioned officials that you own them."
"Are they here to investigate?" asked Chloe.
Matthew nodded, "Precisely, they want to see what we are up to, they might suspect that we are hiding something."
Truthfully, these robots did belong to Chloe.
"Did I break the rules?" Chloe was wondering if her personal modifications were against any rule.
Matthew shook his head, "Every material for your project is in accordance with Aerospace Institute standards, so we are not violating the rules."
"If the nation is in need, we can provide a sufficient amount, but these specific machines are off-limits."
Considering the special devices infused within these robots, releasing them would be no different than those conducting secretive biochemical experiments, right?
Surprised, Matthew said, "Are you suggesting that we replicate more of these?"
"We could weaken the device and produce a batch of robots to be deployed to the Border Posts. That would make things a lot easier for everyone."
Remembering the Border Commander, Chloe came up with this idea.
Being outside also requires certain ways of protection, and this could directly contribute to that.

Langley Ferguson, who was ejected out, was walking dispiritedly on the shady grove path. He sat down on the roadside and stared at the road leading out, filled with resentment upon thinking that his life was ruined by Chloe. He fumed with rage, wishing to kill her.
Suddenly, a figure approached and stood towering over him.
"Langley Ferguson."
The person called him right out.
Startled, Langley looked up to see the handsome face of a youngster and his wise-looking eyes.
Then he said, "I know you are very talented. Unfortunately, the Aerospace Institute already has an abundance of talents, you aren’t needed here. My lab is currently lacking someone of your caliber. I’d like to invite you to my team, would you be interested?"
In that moment, Langley felt as if a pie had just plopped down from the sky onto him. He was in utter disbelief!
