Chloe Stephens stood at the bustling street corner, Len Hawthorne’s figure nowhere to be found.

"Meow!"

Behind her, the black cat slowly approached.

Chloe expressionlessly boarded a bus, without even looking at Austin Godfrey or Allen Godfrey.

"She should be alright, shouldn’t she?"

Austin was somewhat worried.

Allen shook his head: "She’s fine."

The black cat anxiously rushed forward, only to find it couldn’t get out.

It was horrified to discover that Chloe had locked it out.

Austin watched the black cat desperately try to break through and get out, only to be repelled upon reaching a certain distance, the entire cat panicking.

"I told you not to betray so casually."

Austin had no sympathy for it.

"Meow, meow, meow!!!"

The black cat was running around in circles anxiously.

The black cat didn’t go with Austin; it approached him not by its own will but by instinct.

It was as if they once had a deep connection between them.

Eventually, for an unknown reason, it left his side and has been accompanying Chloe ever since.

The entire cat belonged to Chloe and would do so even to its death.

The black cat aimlessly walked on the streets, looking up at the neon lights before hanging its head and walking away.

Chloe sat on a wooden bench not far from the Hawthorne home, staring at the Hawthorne Family members coming and going.

Her mobile phone rang twice. When she picked it up, she saw it was Ethan Coates.

She answered.

"Chloe, Chloe! Where are you? You haven’t been kidnapped by Godfrey Family members, have you?"

"I’m outside the Hawthorne home."

"What!" Ethan silently thought, this is going to be a massacre.

He didn’t dare to delay and hurriedly drove over.

Getting out of the car, he quickly ran over, and upon seeing Chloe quietly sitting there, he breathed a long sigh of relief: "Thank goodness, thank goodness you didn’t take action!"

"I won’t go back to the Slaughter Squad tonight."

"Then where will you stay?" Ethan was frustrated.

Chloe leaned on the long wooden bench and said nonchalantly, "Your place."

"..." Ethan was so scared he choked on his saliva, "No, no, I can’t afford that."

Chloe gave him a glance, "Then don’t bother."

"Young Master Hawthorne suddenly left, and if he knew I arranged this, he’s sure to kill me," even Len hadn’t dared to house Chloe in his private place, much less Ethan.

"What kind of people were his parents?"

Chloe suddenly took an interest in the couple.

Ethan said seriously, "That’s such a long time ago, how would I know? But in the past, young Len was really pitiful. His parents were so cruel to him that they didn’t even treat him like their own child. They ruthlessly used all sorts of tactics like beatings to bring him down. Eventually, they both disappeared; some people say Len killed them and ate their flesh, others claim they’re still alive and are just imprisoned in some mysterious place."

Either way, he didn’t believe any of those rumors.

Chloe made a sound of acknowledgement: "It is quite miserable."

"What do you mean, ’quite miserable’? It’s very miserable!" Ethan paused, "Why are you suddenly so concerned about his private affairs?"

"His fate is like an ancient curse."

"Curse? Isn’t that the same as a curse then! Because of this curse, poor young Len can’t have a wife, can’t touch a woman’s hand, and can’t be too kind to people! He’s so pitiful!" Ethan exaggeratedly sighed, "Young Len has never had anyone around him to care for him in the slightest, and despite being treated so cruelly, he still repays society with the warmest response; it’s so moving!"

Seeing him pretending to wipe tears away, Chloe’s mouth twitched slightly.

This man is putting on a play.

Chloe sat there for the entire night.

Ethan squatted on the other side, feeding mosquitoes while yawning.

As the sky turns bright, Ethan suddenly sits up from the ground, "It’s daytime!"

There was no sign of Chloe on the bench, which startled Ethan and made him wake up completely.

When he called Chloe, she hung up and sent him a message.

She was already at the hotel.

Ethan’s mouth twitched.

So she slept in a hotel while he slept outside?

Chloe was indeed lying on the hotel bed, sleeping. When she woke up, she removed a barrier.

The black cat appeared at the bedside instantly, and upon seeing Chloe, it wanted to pounce, but it was mercilessly slapped away by one hand.

"Meow!"

The black cat was hurt, but still felt very happy.
