Chapter 505: Chapter 470: Team Hawthorne, You Don’t Even Have the Qualification to Pursue (1 Update)
While Chloe was eating, Len Hawthorne turned and walked out.
A team member came in and glanced inside, whispering: "Team Hawthorne, the Stephens Family has moved that man elsewhere."
"Did you find anything?" Len Hawthorne raised his eyelids and asked softly.
The team member shook his head: "No, the timeline is too long, it’s from decades ago. We need to dig deeper."
"We need to investigate, no matter what. Assign a few people to focus on this," Len Hawthorne said.
The team member suddenly looked inside again, and said, "Is it because of Miss Chloe Stephens?"
Len Hawthorne squinted at him, and the team member was frightened, shrinking his neck.
Len Hawthorne gave him a kick, "You know, but still ask, isn’t that cheap?"
"Hehe..." The team member didn’t dodge, touched his nose, and suddenly sympathized, "Team Hawthorne, I don’t mean to offend, but this is a fact. With your fierce reputation, you don’t even have the right to pursue her, let alone get married."
Len Hawthorne’s mouth twitched, "Get lost. Who said I wanted to chase that little girl? What kind of nonsense are you thinking about? Get back to work; if I hear this again, you will work with Jimmy Turner."
Team member: "..."
Working with that emotionless man would be painful just thinking about it.
After sending the team member away, Len Hawthorne couldn’t help but light another cigarette.
But once lit, he found himself even more agitated.
Throwing away the cigarette, he turned to see Chloe standing behind the door, smiling, "How long have you been standing here?"
Chloe stared, "This is very dangerous."
So close, and yet he hadn’t noticed.
Len Hawthorne laughed, "Isn’t Little Chloe here, though?"
"Do you need my protection?" Chloe stared at him.
Len Hawthorne ground the cigarette butt beneath his foot, "If Little Chloe really wants to do that, I can give this opportunity."
Chloe looked at him steadily, "Not interested."
Putting away his smile, Len Hawthorne said, "Your Granny has moved the unconscious man to a safe place; do you want to go see him?"
Chloe’s expression grew serious, and after a moment she asked, "Did you find anything about him?"
Len Hawthorne shook his head, "The timeline is too long, it’s not that easy to dig out. I’ve already arranged for someone to focus on this matter and deliver the news to you as soon as it arrives."
Since it concerned the Stephens Family, Len Hawthorne thought Chloe would be interested, and subconsciously made such an arrangement.
Chloe did not expect him to make such an arrangement, but she said nothing.
"Your parents have also gone to find Alex Stephens, and my people are following. Anything will be reported promptly. Now, do you want to stay here for a while or go back to Sheffield City?" Len Hawthorne made the arrangements in Dark City clear, just to set her mind at ease.
For a young girl, no matter how good her skills were, her abilities were limited.
"Let’s wait a little longer; you can go about your business," Chloe wanted to observe the situation in Dark City.
That man in the black mask made her somewhat concerned.
There were quite a few people in Dark City with such abilities.
Who could it be?
Chloe’s dark eyes turned icy.
Len Hawthorne let her be, and that night Chloe went to bed early while he continued to discuss matters with one team member after another outside the living room.
When she got up the next day, Chloe found that Len Hawthorne was gone.
It seemed like he had chased after someone and left a note for her.
There was no signal here, so they could only use this primitive method to leave messages.
Looking at the elegant handwriting, Chloe’s expression was momentarily strange.
When Len Hawthorne left, he had also made her breakfast.
After breakfast, Chloe didn’t stay here any longer but followed them to find Alex Stephens.
Some of the Watsons Family’s people were bumped into by Len Hawthorne’s team and dealt with.
The Slaughter Squad followed Adam Stephens and Yvette Foster, then withdrew after they found Alex Stephens.
The sudden appearance of Adam Stephens and Yvette Foster surprised Alex Stephens.
"Father, Aunt Foster, why are you here?"
Yvette Foster glanced at Alex Stephens, noticing that he had lost some weight, and his aura had changed, containing a hint of murderous intent. He must have suffered quite a bit in the Dark City.
"We were worried that you were having a hard time in the Dark City, so we came to check on you," Yvette Foster said first.
Adam Stephens waved his hand and gestured for him to sit down, "We received some news outside that you were being hunted down here."
Alex’s expression darkened, "For the past few days, the people chasing me were likely from the Watsons Family. As for the others, they just wanted to spar with me."
Adam snorted coldly, "The Watsons Family again."
"Although the Watsons Family is being restrained by the Slaughter Squad now, there’s nothing serious happening. Father, we should be more cautious about the Hawthorne Family," warned Alex, having heard many things while in the Dark City.
The Hawthorne Family had suddenly gone quiet, as if brewing something, which worried Alex.
Adam reassured him, "Don’t worry about it. If you feel like you can’t handle it, you can always end your training early."
Alex couldn’t accept quitting at this point. After all the effort he put into reaching this stage in the Dark City, what would people think if he left now?
Returning to the Stephens Family wouldn’t be easy either.
"Since I came here, I want to obtain what I desire," said Alex, who hadn’t shown any progress yet. How could he return like this?
"You’re not very safe in the Dark City right now," Adam tried to persuade him.
But Alex convinced his father instead, "The Dark City is indeed not safe, so father and Aunt Foster should hurry back to Sheffield."
"What about you?" Yvette frowned and asked.
"I’ll stay behind, of course," Alex said, "Since I’ve chosen the Dark City as my training ground, I’ve prepared for it. If the Dark City was safer than the outside, then why would I come here in the first place?"
Knowing that Alex was determined, Adam could only suggest, "We’ll assign a few more people to follow you closely."
"Father," Alex looked at his father, "I’m here for training, not for leisure."
How could he train if so many people were protecting him?
Alex insisted, and in the end, Adam and Yvette Foster didn’t say anything more.
Chloe watched them from a distance. After staying for two days, Adam and Yvette Foster returned to Sheffield. They had originally planned to find Charlotte Richardson, but after parting ways, Adam knew that Charlotte would have changed her location by then.
They would have to ask Pierce Stephens for information once they returned.
Moreover, there was that man named Timothy Stephens.
For some reason, Adam felt an unusual connection with this man.
After the people left.
Alex also left that place and headed to the next one.
Only after Chloe saw Adam and the others leave safely did she follow behind Alex.
She removed all the makeup she was wearing, put on her mask, and as she got off the carriage, she was attracted by a commotion.
In the Dark City, when people saw a fight, they would only watch and not intervene.
"Bang!"
A figure was sent flying.
Chloe raised her hand to block the person who was flying towards her. When he stabilized and turned around.
It was Alex!
Alex coughed a few times and weakly said, "Thank you."
"Master Alex Stephens!" The faces of the Stephens Family’s secret protectors turned ugly as they stood beside Alex.
"Alex, is this all you got?" A mocking voice came from the crowd.
Although the voice didn’t belong to the person who initiated the attack, it was indeed annoying.
Alex clenched his teeth and sneered, "You’re only relying on the fact that you have someone backing you up."
The voice replied, "This isn’t someone from my Wrigley Family, don’t get it wrong."
Chloe looked ahead and noticed several familiar figures in the crowd.
At first glance, she recognized Emily Lynch.
They had just happened to encounter this confrontation.
Chloe’s gaze fell on a man wearing a black mask in the front. Her eyes narrowed, the mask was the same as the one she had fought with before.
Chloe noticed a small, dark gold number, engraved at the corner of the mask.
This represented their status and codename.
