Chapter 480: Chapter 448: The Hawthorne Family’s Pursuit and Grandma Hawthorne’s Disappearance (1 more)

Jade Hawthorne’s sudden death, dangling from the Hawthorne family’s front door brought grimmer and more shocking descriptions by the minute.

Len Hawthorne washed and replaced the bowl he had used; holding his mobile phone, he read through the multitude of descriptions online. It was as if these people had all witnessed Jade Hawthorne being murdered in person.

Len sat down on the sofa, reopened his computer to log into a website, and began networking with others.

Upon confirming that he was unharmed, people from each corner resumed their own tasks at hand.

Having finished breakfast, Chloe was feeling much better. As soon as Len finished the task in his hand, she motioned with her hand, signaling him to offer his wrist to her.

She wanted to give him a thorough check-up.

Len shuttered his notebook cooperatively and watched Chloe, who was seriously taking his pulse, with a soft grin.

"There’s no serious problem. You’re just a bit weak."

Len withdrew his hand, chuckling, "Little Chloe gave me so much medicine to restore my vitality. How could I be weak?"

Chloe then took a small bottle out of her pocket, "Take one pill every day. When you finish, come back to me."

"Is this free of charge?" Len, with a smirk, asked while taking the small bottle.

Chloe slightly lifted her eyebrows, "Mark it down first. Three million USD."

Len put the bottle into his pocket, "I’ll take it on time. But, can you tell me what’s happening with my body now?"

He knew that Chloe wouldn’t give away her medicine casually.

There must be something wrong.

Chloe pursed her lips, gave him a glance, and stated in a low voice, "Do you need me to tell you that your body is no good before you think it’s reasonable?"

Len Hawthorne: "..."

That would indeed be unnecessary.

"When Jade Hawthorne dies, the Hawthorne family will knock on our door for sure. Have you considered how to deal with it?"

"Is little Chloe concerned about her big brother?" Len grinned with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Chloe believed that she should refrain from being overly concerned about this man. When exposed to the slightest warmth, his arrogance would know no bounds.

Chloe fluttered her eyelashes, gazing at him.

Len reined in his grin, "I’ll deal with the Hawthorne family’s matter. Little Chloe needs not to get involved. Of course, if little Chloe wants to intervene, I can also provide her with an identity so that she can support her big brother with just cause!"

"Deal with it yourself," She thought that he wouldn’t give her any proper titles. "Don’t forget, you’re under the death curse."

The curse of causing close people’s death wasn’t a joke.

Len furrowed his brows, his face growing serious.

His deep gaze fell onto Chloe.

Chloe slumped on the sofa, sinking into her thoughts.

She was mulling over.

How she would handle the death curse on him.

Len rose to his feet, walking over to her. His big hand came down lightly, caressing her hair.

"I’ll return to Imperial Capital for a bit. You should behave and keep up with school here in Sheffield City. Don’t meddle in other things for now. I remember I sent Francis Long there once, and I didn’t expect you’d follow and stir up such a mess."

Len sighed and picked up his belongings, exiting the villa.

Sitting on the sofa for a while, Chloe finally rose to her feet and headed upstairs. Standing before several robots, she dismissed that thought.

This issue had escalated; chaos would surely ensue for some time.

She could stay at her school for now.

Once a year has passed, it’ll be easier to handle certain matters.

What she cares about now is why she cares about Len Hawthorne.

Unable to figure it out, the only option left was to immerse herself in her work!

Upon her return to the Stephens family home later that day, she found that her elder brother, Adam, and Yvette Foster had already been waiting for her in the living room.

Seeing Yvette Foster, Chloe realized that Yvette must have told them everything.

With a stern face, Adam pointed at the seat, "Come, sit."

Chloe put down her schoolbag and sat in front of Adam, "What is it?"

This question caught Adam off guard.

"Chloe, do you know what you’re doing? Lying and deceiving people at such a young age." While Adam wore an angry face, coupled with Yvette winking at her, it seemed like a paper tiger trying to put on a brave face.

Chloe glanced at Yvette and said to Adam, "Since you can’t control your wife, why turn your anger on me?"

Adam:"..."

Yvette’s face reddened.

Clearing her throat, Yvette playfully nudged Adam, complaining, "You scare Chloe as soon as she gets home. Is this what you want?"

Feeling that neither his authority as a father nor his dignity as a husband could be maintained, Adam resignedly abandoned his false display of authority, and, following suit, cleared his throat as well, "Where have you been these two days?"

"Just went around."

Chloe couldn’t just say that she had gone to Dark City and caused Jade Hawthorne’s death.

If she really had told them, Adam and the others surely would have been worried sick again.

Knowing that his daughter was not telling the truth, Adam chose not to pry further, as long as his daughter was okay.
