Chapter 198: Chapter 174: That Person from That Year, Playing Along (4 more updates)

After surviving the plane crash, Logan Thomas returned to the Imperial Capital early this morning.

Upon landing, he handed the item in his hand to Matthew Patterson.

Upon receiving the device, Matthew’s face changed instantly, though he quickly regained his composure.

Returning to his own laboratory, he stared at the device in his hand for a long time before dialing a number on his mobile phone.

"I need some fragments of a special mineral... The person from back then may have resurfaced."

After the last sentence, he hung up the phone.

He stared grimly at the device in his hand.

Adam Stephens insisted on driving Chloe to school today.

The Taylor Family had a significant incident, making both families cautious.

Her delicate fingers touched the screen of her mobile phone. There was a message on it.

[Elder brother is taking Little Chloe to the amusement park tomorrow.]

The other party really treated her like a love-starved little girl.

"Chloe, at noon, your father will send someone to pick you up," Adam said.

"I have an appointment at noon, I will not be returning to the Stephens’s home."

"I see..." Adam wanted to ask his daughter who she was meeting but was afraid of his questions leading to her rebellion.

Adam took out a card from his pocket and handed it to her, "Here, buy whatever you want."

Chloe accepted it.

As a father, he should provide for his daughter.

And so, she accepted it without hesitation.

Upon entering the classroom, she found many people engrossed in their phones.

"Chloe!"

Abigail Wilson beckoned.

After sitting down, Abigail passed her phone over, "Look, the Taylor Family had an incident. I heard someone attacked them last night and the losses were substantial. Our class leader didn’t come to school today, I wonder if he got hurt."

Cecilia Taylor was indeed not present at school today.

Other members of the Taylor Family of the same generation were also absent from school.

The news was out.

However, nothing related to last night had been reported.

No one from the Taylor Family would come forward to explain the surreal news to ordinary people.

At that moment, Ava Sanders ran over from the next class.

"Chloe, Mason and the others lost a basketball game yesterday which resulted in a conflict. They got injured and went to the hospital. Come with me to visit them at noon, alright?"

"They got injured?"

"It’s not serious. Franklin just got a head injury that caused some bleeding. Mason just skinned his hand, it’s not a big deal."

"Alright."

Once Ava left, Abigail pulled Chloe to inquire, "Are you three very close?"

"Close enough."

"Can I join in?"

Chloe didn’t respond.

With an eye-smile, Abigail said, "Since you’re not objecting, I’ll consider it as you agreeing. I’ll also tag along after school at noon."

*

Hospital.

Ava saw Abigail following along, although she found it inexplicable, she didn’t say anything.

They entered the hospital ward.

In a regular ward.

Two out of the three beds were occupied.

An Uncle with a broken bone was lying on one of the beds.

"You guys really outdid yourselves, turning a basketball game into a brawl."

Ava placed down the food she brought and opened it for both of them to eat.

Franklin got a minor head injury that caused some bleeding which required hospital observation.

Mason fell while playing basketball and skinned his arm. He also suffered a mild injury.

"Franklin didn’t start any fights, he was just an innocent bystander."

Franklin was indeed wronged. He was merely an observer yet he still got hit.

This is why they weren’t given punishment.

As for those who started the fights, they ended up unscathed which was infuriating.

"Let’s skip that topic for now. The news last night reported that there was an attack in Sheffield City. Chloe, is everything okay with the Stephens Family?"

Mason looked at Chloe.

Chloe said, "Everything’s fine."

"Even such a large family as the Taylor Family was attacked, it seems not all of them are invincible."

"No one is powerful enough to control everything," Chloe said lightly.

Ava said, "Large families have lots of dirty secrets. Be careful in the Stephens Family, Chloe."

Abigail blinked and asked, "Chloe, that incident last time..."

"Nothing happened," Chloe glanced at the two of them to assess their condition, "There’s nothing serious with both of you. After being observed for a day, you can be discharged tomorrow."

"That’s what we’re planning too," Mason Sullivan, lying here, felt awkward all over and wished to be discharged as soon as possible.

"Tomorrow’s Saturday," Ava Sanders asked Chloe, "If you’re not going anywhere, come over."

"I made promises to go out."

"I will come over," Abigail Wilson raised her hand, "I’ll accompany Ava. Chloe, you go about with your stuff."

Just as Abigail’s words dropped, someone walked into the room from the door.

It was Oliver Gordon.

Abigail suddenly remembered the rumors roaming around the school in recent days, she tugged Chloe’s sleeve, "Does the campus idol, Gordon, like you?"

Chloe kept silent.

Although things were a bit stiff before, Mason did not refuse Oliver’s visit.

"How’s your injury."

"It’s nothing," Mason lifted his arm with a smile, "Just a small scratch!"

"Glad it’s nothing serious," Oliver turned towards Chloe, "I saw the news, there’s a problem with the Taylor family in Sheffield City. The Stephens family isn’t affected, right?"

The ward fell silent as Oliver’s words finished.

"It’s nothing."

Though the response was the same, the tone was much colder this time.

Seeing this, Mason wanted to ease the atmosphere, but Chloe started talking first. "Can’t come over tomorrow, text me when you’re discharged."

"Alright, alright," Mason quickly responded.

Oliver stood visibly forcing a smile.

Previously, when standing with Mason, Chloe’s gaze was always on her.

Now, Chloe didn’t even glance at him once.

Unbeknownst to him, Chloe had grown this close to Mason.

Could it be, Chloe was falling for Mason?

Oliver felt irritated at his own conjecture.

At the school.

Quite a few people were discussing about the affluent families in Sheffield City.

That includes the Stephens family.

He saw clearly the look, full of yearning and envy, in their eyes when their classmates mentioned Chloe.

He wanted to say.

The campus belle who used to only have eyes for him.

The rich heiress, only favored him.

Oliver looked at the aloof girl and noticed upon closer look, Chloe had become more beautiful, even her skin was fairer and smoother to the point where even a trace of pores could not be seen.

If he tries a bit more, could he capture her ardent gaze again?

*

The next day.

Chloe left the Stephens family early in the morning.

After she sent off Yvette and others, she arrived at the designated location.

Seeing the evildoer she hadn’t seen in a long time, Chloe paused momentarily.

"What’s wrong? Did you think your big brother has become more handsome?"

Seeing the evildoer smile, she was reminded of the demon in the cave.

"Where are we going?"

"Didn’t we agree to visit the amusement park?"

Chloe looked up at him, "You want to play?"

Len Hawthorne hooked his thin lips, knowing well that the young girl likes to keep up appearances, he smiled and replied: "Yes, your big brother has a deprived childhood, never been on a roller coaster. So, Little Chloe, please accompany your big brother for once, can you?"

"Hmm."

She can accompany him to play.

*

Amusement park.

The loop roller coaster slowly moved forward.

The two individuals in the front, expressionless, waited for the thrilling part.

"Whoosh!"

The roller coaster dashed out at a high speed.

Their expressions remained the same.

The sharp screams rang into their ears.

The duo: "..."

Maintaining expressions as if on a mechanical task.

Then they switched to vertical roller coaster.

The two of them kept their original expressions intact.

Experiencing the screams from the people behind them, the two of them completed the vertical roller coaster ride expressionlessly, and looked at each other without any emotions.

Len Hawthorne chuckled, "Let’s go. I’ll treat you to a popsicle."

Chloe thought, having a popsicle is better.

Getting on to get tossed around, like an idiot.
