Eventually, it was concluded that the girl had some kind of mental illness, which led her to that kind of place and commit suicide.
Len Hawthorne squinted his eyes.
What on earth had the Stephens Family done to Little Chloe?
A chill gripped the usually smiling eyes.
Nightfall.
Len Hawthorne stopped the car and covered the girl with the camouflage coat.
He leaned against the car, took out a cigarette, and lit it up.
When Chloe Stephens opened her eyes, she saw the powerful and profound face of the man by the car window. His fingers holding the cigarette were slender, each perfectly long. He looked rather enchanting as he held the burning cigarette, the rising smoke shrouding his handsome face.
No doubt, this man was easy on the eyes.
When he noticed the girl was awake, Len Hawthorne put out his cigarette.
"We’re not home yet. Keep sleeping."
Chloe Stephens removed the large coat and rolled down the car window to look at him.
Being watched by those pure eyes, Len Hawthorne felt as though he had done something wrong and felt a sense of guilt.
"I threw away the cigarette. I won’t smoke again."
"You don’t have any questions for me."
The girl, sitting in her seat, looked at the man from the window.
"Let’s not dwell on Little Chloe’s past," Len Hawthorne glanced at the girl’s face, leaning slightly towards her. "Whatever happens, you can always talk to your big brother."
A hint of confusion appeared on Chloe Stephens’ cold face. Did she have any scars?
If he asked, she would answer truthfully.
Since he didn’t ask, it saved her some talking.
"Thank you."
Len Hawthorne couldn’t help but smile, pinching her face lightly.

When the morning came, Chloe Stephens returned home.
Yvette Foster, awoken by the noise outside early in the morning, got up.
Looking out from the window, she could only see the tail of a car.
"Chloe?"
Yvette Foster went out and was surprised to see Chloe Stephens returning in the morning.
"I’m going out to buy breakfast."
Yvette Foster didn’t know that Chloe Stephens had asked for leave from school.
"Are you not used to the breakfast I make?"
"It’s good. Just wanted to eat out occasionally, to lighten your workload."
Leaving these words behind, Chloe Stephens went upstairs to fetch her schoolbag.
"Chloe, let me drive you."
"You don’t have to."
Yvette Foster attempted to call out but held back.
Chloe Stephens had already run far away on her own.
Chloe Stephens had asked for two days off. She spent the whole day out yesterday and went to Bianca Hunter to rescind her leave this morning.
Bianca Hunter was somewhat surprised.
However, she eventually unmarked Chloe’s absence and allowed her to return to the classroom to continue her studies.
After disappearing for a day, Chloe Stephens returned to school looking quite worn out, like someone genuinely ill.
Using those techniques, Chloe Stephens expended a significant amount of vital energy.
"Chloe, these are yesterday’s notes," Mason Sullivan especially took notes for Chloe Stephens.
Chloe Stephens glanced at him but did not refuse.
Chloe Stephens took them.
"Thank you."
"No matter what, you need to study hard."
Chloe Stephens nodded her head.
"Did you all see? Marcella Thomas went to the principal’s office. It seems she is returning to school to continue her studies."
"Didn’t she get a big write-up last time and then got reported? Even if she completes the last one or two months, it wouldn’t make much difference."
"Her future is ruined. She can only go to a vocational school."
"If she doesn’t even take the middle school exam, not even vocational schools will accept her."
The surrounding voices came into focus. Mason Sullivan reassured Chloe Stephens, "You don’t need to mind what they’re saying. Marcella Thomas got what she deserved."
Chloe Stephens didn’t pay attention to these.

"This is outrageous."
A person banged the table in anger at the Taylor Family’s conference table.
Wayne Taylor in his seat watched everyone but didn’t utter a word.
Only after everyone had their say, did he slowly speak, "Now that the cleaning team has caught our people, we have no grounds to demand them back. The only thing we can do is comply with their arrangements and go along with their intentions."
"Why should we?"
Someone roared in resentment.
Wayne Taylor responded, "Simply because they are from the cleaning team."
Plus, they had the ability to erase the memory of ancient martial artists.
This ability alone made them extraordinary.
Hearing these words, everyone remained silent.
Nathan Taylor and his team had returned two days ago, but the issue remained unresolved.
All they could do was swallow their anger.
"The Fisher Family is playing safe now and managed to avoid trouble. As for this western witchcraft, we, the Taylor Family, should stop meddling in it. If any problems arise in the future, it’s something everyone in the Herta Kingdom has to deal with." Someone, frustrated, relinquished their responsibilities.
Wayne Taylor would like to avoid these problems, but they couldn’t just simply disengage.
If they do, the Taylor Family would be subject to condemnation from several families.
The consequences are something the Taylor Family can’t bear. They must face matters that need to be faced.
"So, what should we do now? Just let the cleaning team imprison our people?"
"The cleaning team is too domineering. Will our families still have freedom in front of the cleaning team?"
"Such a team should not have been established."
Wayne Taylor added, "This team was established hundreds of years ago. It serves to maintain a balance."
Someone scoffed.
Angry and resentful at the cleaning team, yet helpless against them.
"This time, it indeed was our people who crossed the line. The matter can be left aside for now. It doesn’t matter if they are held there for a while. They won’t know what they shouldn’t know, so there’s no need to worry about them spilling secrets to the cleaning team"
Everyone was quite unwilling.
Wayne Taylor flipped through the reports of the last few days, "The cultural relic incident has caused quite a stir these few days. I just received news a couple of hours ago. A member of the Western Europe Roland Family has taken one of the cultural relics and encountered some problems at sea. They are still recovering the relic from the sea."
"We’ve seen that relic. It seemed unusual."
"So our target this time is that relic?"
Everyone turned to look at Wayne Taylor.
"I’ve just had a call with the Fisher Family. They will send someone to the ocean boundary line this afternoon to wait for the opportunity."
Everyone exchanged looks, somewhat confused. It was just an unusual-looking relic. Why was their Taylor family getting involved?
