After Reborn, I Became the Bigshots’ Beloved
Chapter 424: Arriving on the Island

Chapter 424: Chapter 424: Arriving on the Island

The words fell, and the entire room fell silent.

If the people on the plane were given a choice earlier between being sent to a remote island or going home, most would have chosen to go home without hesitation.

However, after listening to what this Mr. S said, everyone present took a sharp breath in.

A short speech, yet brimming with information.

In essence, now presented before everyone on the plane were two paths.

The first path: press the button, and in a moment, they could fly back home with the plane. No adventure, no danger.

The second path: possibly staying on the remote island for ten days. They had no knowledge of the island’s circumstances, nor could they predict the dangers that might follow, but they might win prize money.

Just as Mr. S had mentioned earlier, the maximum prize money each person could receive was eight million.

Forget the top three in the popularity award; just finding the treasure alone yields a five-million prize. Even if they weren’t the sole individual finding the treasure and discovered it with others, the prize money shared would still be substantial.

Because if they truly ended up on the remote island, it would be improbable for everyone to cooperate entirely and would likely lead to forming teams and camps. Even if the treasure-finding team consisted of ten people, that’d still be 500,000 per person.

This was solid, tangible cash!

Participating in the show had already earned each person a 100,000 reward from the production team.

Among the participants, there were families like the wealthy Lu Family, Shi Family, Han Family, and Lan Family, as well as those from less affluent or even impoverished households.

Originally, for some of them, 100,000 was already a significant amount. But now, seeing the potential eight million prize money, the 100,000 reward seemed negligible in comparison.

If they could bring home even several hundred thousand—a sum that could buy a house in a county town.

Not to mention buying a house; at the very least, four years’ worth of college tuition and living expenses would be covered with plenty left over.

So, to gamble or to go back?

A girl with a ponytail and glasses had initially placed her hand on the button but now quietly withdrew it.

Someone nearby noticed and asked, "Yiyi, are you not going back now? Didn’t you start crying earlier out of fear?"

The girl named Huang Yiyi looked somewhat embarrassed. "...I cried earlier because I thought we were being kidnapped, so I was scared."

"But since this is an event arranged by the production team and will be livestreamed, even if we end up on the remote island, there shouldn’t be a real danger."

"Since we’re here, I’ll go with everyone and see it through."

A boy nearby joined the conversation.

"Meng Yan, you were furious earlier, saying the production team committed kidnapping and you’d report it to the police. Now you’re not leaving?"

"Leave for what? Did you hear how exciting this game sounds?" Meng Yan said with a face full of enthusiasm.

"Survival on a remote island while treasure hunting, that’s just thrilling! I didn’t expect the production team to come up with something so creative; no wonder they kept it so secret beforehand."

Meanwhile, Lan Yu turned to Lu Sheng: "Shengsheng, what do you think?"

"I want to stay," Lu Sheng replied.

"Then I’ll stay too," Lan Yu immediately said.

Lu Sheng looked at Lu Youming and Lu Youye, "Fourth Brother, Fifth Brother..."

Lu Youye pinched Lu Sheng’s face: "What are you thinking? If you stay, do you really think we wouldn’t stick around with you?"

"Besides, this real-life survival game on a remote island sounds way more fun than playing video games. I wouldn’t want to miss it."

If Lan Yu was in, Han Jing naturally followed suit. All five of them had no disagreements; they came together and would stick together.

Meanwhile, An Xianni tugged at Shi Yuwei’s sleeve, whispering, "Yuwei, let’s not get involved in this... Those poor people might go for the money, but our families don’t even need it."

"Our luggage was all left outside the assembly hall. If we’re staying on a remote island for days, where are we sleeping? What kind of beds would there be on the island? Beds costing under two thousand are hard as rocks."

"And what are we eating? Who’s going to cook for us? Wouldn’t the food prepared for us be canned goods and compressed biscuits? Who could eat such garbage for ten days?"

"Also, if we go, what about washing, bathing, skin care? Who knows if the production team provided sunscreen? If we get sunburned, what then? It’s terrifying; let’s just head back..."

An Xianni thought since she was whispering, the camera equipment on the plane wouldn’t pick up her words clearly, and the viewers wouldn’t hear.

However, the reality was that what the viewers were currently watching wasn’t just a standard broadcast but a game livestream.

In this game livestream, every word spoken by every individual in every corner was audible to the viewers. There was even a subtitle feature, instantly displaying every spoken word as subtitles.

Because of this, many viewers who overheard An Xianni’s remarks couldn’t help but feel irritated.

What’s with "those poor people"? Coming in with such a superior attitude. Even saying beds costing under two thousand are hard as rocks and canned goods and compressed biscuits are trash.

Don’t they know how many people can’t afford beds costing over two thousand? Or how many people consider eating her so-called "trash" to be a luxury?

Thus, although no one had introduced themselves yet, the first impression this self-important heiress gave was enough to stir dissatisfaction among the viewers.

Shi Yuwei was evidently much smarter than An Xianni.

Regardless of whether the audience could hear them, knowing cameras were filming, she naturally adopted an approach to win people over.

"Nini, how could you say that," Shi Yuwei said in apparent disapproval, her tone serious. "We’re all classmates; don’t speak of people as poor or not."

"Besides, while the conditions on the remote island will surely be rough, I’ve never experienced that kind of life before, so I’d like to give it a try. If you don’t want to go, you can head back by yourself."

Leave by herself?

An Xianni glanced around, left and right—everyone else seemed uninterested in pressing the button. If she was the only one returning, wouldn’t that be embarrassing?

Thinking this through, An Xianni gritted her teeth and withdrew her hand.

At that moment, Mr. S’s voice rang out once more.

[The plane is about to land. You have ten seconds left to make your decision. After ten seconds, it will be considered as choosing to participate in the game.]

[Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one... Beep—statistics completed.]

[One person has forfeited their game qualification; twenty-seven participants will join the game. The plane is about to descend; please fasten your seatbelt.]

—Only one person decided to leave.

Lu Sheng glanced at the direction of the button’s indicator light.

The boy who forfeited his game qualification seemed timid and introverted. Sadly, they still didn’t know his name.

But apart from him, everyone else committed. Evidently, both the game and the prize money were enticing enough.

As Mr. S’s words faded, the plane suddenly plunged downward in mid-air.

In just seconds, the plane landed on the ground. After taxiing to a stop, the cabin doors automatically opened.

Though most of the passengers were strangers, they couldn’t help but glance at each other.

Taking deep breaths, one by one, they stepped off the plane.

However, once everyone exited the aircraft and stood on the ground, the scene before them left them wide-eyed.

—It was an island surrounded by the ocean.

As everyone disembarked, their first instinct was to look toward the ocean. The sea was veiled in misty fog, obscuring the distant view.

Although it was supposed to be late August with sweltering heat, everyone was dressed in short sleeves and shorts. Yet, oddly enough, being surrounded by the ocean brought the island’s temperature down to just above freezing, in the teens.

A gust of sea breeze swept by, carrying the salty tang of seawater, causing everyone to shiver in the cold. Many folded their arms, feeling goosebumps rise as they blurted out, "So cold."

Among them, only Lu Youming wore a thin jacket. After feeling the chill upon disembarking, he immediately took off his jacket and draped it over Lu Sheng.

Meanwhile, Lu Sheng began surveying the island’s surroundings.

The coastline was lined with jagged rocks. Beneath their feet was coarse sandy soil stretching into the distance.

Looking ahead, the island’s full scope was indiscernible. However, at first glance, there were no buildings, only an expanse of forest shrouded in a grayish mist.

It was truly desolate, a scene entirely foreign to the city.

"...Are we really going to spend ten days here?"

An Xianni was dumbfounded. She assumed there would at least be houses on the island, but to her dismay, there wasn’t even a shadow of one. Beyond barren land lay the forest.

"Wait, where are we supposed to sleep?!"

At that moment, a metallic-looking electronic parrot flew in from the sky, flapping its wings with a futuristic cyberpunk vibe.

The parrot carried a rope in its beak, attached to a huge wooden plank equipped with wheels beneath.

On that plank was a heap of dozens of black packages of varying sizes.

As the plank was pulled to everyone’s feet, the sight stunned them.

Then the electronic parrot released the rope from its beak and began to speak.

[Hello, everyone. It’s still me.] The voice clearly matched Mr. S’s voice from the plane. [I will be your sole guide during your time on this island.]

[Earlier, I heard someone ask where we expected you to sleep.]

[As I previously mentioned, we’ve prepared twenty-eight packages containing everything you’ll need for survival during your ten-day stay.]

[Specifically, these packages include items like tents and sleeping bags for sleeping, various convenient food options such as instant meals, bread, biscuits, canned goods, and more, winter clothing of various sizes, as well as miscellaneous useful—or potentially useless—items and medication.]

[However, all of these items have been randomly distributed among the twenty-eight packages. And the rule is, each of you may only claim one package.]

[Whoever acquires a specific package will have absolute ownership over its contents.]

[Friendly reminder: some packages may contain highly useful items, while others might contain practically useless ones. Therefore, the first to choose will have a significant advantage.]

[Now, you must decide the order in which you’ll choose your packages—this will be your first task upon arriving on the island.]
