After Prison, She Shocks the World
Chapter 115: He Can Save Anyone for Her

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: He Can Save Anyone for Her

The voice on the other end of the phone hadn’t finished speaking when Qin Jinhai had already rushed out of the courtyard, hurrying to the airfield at Imperial Garden designated for helicopters.

"Director Qin, the helicopter is still undergoing maintenance."

"I’m going up myself."

Qin Jinhai jumped into the cockpit.

Just over ten seconds later, the helicopter took to the sky, and the crew could only apply for a new flight path as quickly as possible to prevent it from being forcibly landed during its flight. They knew Director Qin was in no state to calmly negotiate with anyone at that moment. Nobody could be certain what might happen.

Qin Jinhai’s mind was in a state of extreme clarity yet utter chaos. He was acutely aware of what he was doing, but at the same time, it felt as if he were locked in a small room, calmly watching himself descend into madness.

Qin Jinhai pushed the helicopter to its critical speed.

The air resistance, noise, and rapidly dropping temperature made him extremely uncomfortable. Prolonged exposure to such conditions could lead to tinnitus and vomiting, something not even the professionally trained Qin Jinhai could withstand.

Compared to the physical pain, he was more terrified of the unknown.

She... Could she die...

The thought flashed through his mind, and he couldn’t afford to delay another second. Qin Sheng’s people might have infiltrated the medical team, ready to deliver a fatal blow to Fu Bing or Ren Ye at any moment. If either of them suffered irreversible damage or died, it was an outcome he could not bear.

The helicopter crew only managed to contact the landing pad at Gu Yazheng Hospital as they were about to land, barely negotiating permission. Given Qin Jinhai’s current state, he would have landed the helicopter even without it.

Qin Jinhai rushed to the operating room area as quickly as possible. Grabbing someone at random, he demanded harshly, "Where’s Fu Bing?"

Gu Sining, yanked forcefully, almost cursed aloud. Seeing it was Qin Jinhai, she wisely swallowed her words. "In resuscitation!"

Without hesitation, Qin Jinhai headed toward the operating room.

"Shen Linxing is in there," Gu Sining added, but Qin Jinhai ignored her.

From a distance, Jian Yao recognized Qin Jinhai’s silhouette and shouted, "Fu Bing is not in life-threatening danger! Ren Ye’s injuries are more severe. Old Master Jian is fading fast; you need to take over for him! If Ren Ye doesn’t make it, Fu Bing will blame herself for the rest of her life!"

Qin Jinhai turned, glanced at the operating room where Fu Bing was, and clenched his teeth.

"Lead the way!"

Jian Yao headed in the opposite direction, and Qin Jinhai followed, his face grim.

Gu Sining was so shocked by the unfolding scene she couldn’t process it. Old Master Jian was resuscitating Ren Ye, so what was Qin Jinhai doing there? Is he also a doctor? And one capable of taking over Old Master Jian’s surgery? Gu Sining couldn’t make sense of it at all. Besides, Fu Bing had arrived at the hospital less than half an hour ago. How did Qin Jinhai get here from Jiangcheng so quickly? Was there still something unresolved between them?

Qin Jinhai quickly changed into sterile scrubs.

Old Master Jian looked at Qin Jinhai through his protective goggles. "Severe spinal trauma. It needs repair. You do it."

Without hesitation, Qin Jinhai swiftly took over.

Ren Zhi, also in sterile scrubs, couldn’t see Qin Jinhai’s face clearly. Jian Yao had brought Qin Jinhai in, and even Old Master Jian trusted him implicitly. Trusting Old Master Jian and Jian Yao, Ren Zhi didn’t intervene.

Qin Jinhai seamlessly continued the procedure Old Master Jian had started. His technique was identical to the old master’s, only faster. Ren Ye had two vertebrae with comminuted fractures; improper handling could lead to permanent disability. He also had multiple fractures in other parts of his body.

The surgery lasted seven hours. The sterile suit was hot and stuffy, a tremendous drain on stamina.

When Qin Jinhai removed his scrubs and stepped out of the operating room, his throat was parched and burning.

Jian Yao met his gaze. "Fu Bing’s surgery is over. She hasn’t woken up yet."

Without pausing, Qin Jinhai went straight to Fu Bing’s ward.

Ren Zhi was puzzled. "Isn’t Fu Ying with him...?"

"Matters of the heart are complicated," Jian Yao said. "Go get ready; Mr. Ren is about to be moved out."

Xiaomei and Auntie Ning, keeping watch in Fu Bing’s hospital room, turned their heads when they heard the door open.

Xiaomei’s eyes widened. "You! What are you doing here?"

Qin Jinhai didn’t answer, walking straight to Fu Bing’s bed. The healthy complexion she had cultivated over months was gone; she lay pale on the mattress. Lying on the bed, she looked so thin, a fragile form that tugged at the heartstrings.

Auntie Ning maneuvered her wheelchair to block Qin Jinhai. "Young man, I shouldn’t pry into matters between you and Xiaobing. But Xiaobing is in a coma now, and I don’t want her to be agitated by anything external. Whatever issues you two have, please wait until Xiaobing wakes up before you come back."

Qin Jinhai glanced at her and moved to the other side of the bed.

The moment he took her small, cold hand, an overwhelming wave of fatigue washed over him. The fear and dread only subsided when he grasped her hand, a sense of solid ground finally returning.

She’s alright. Thank God, she’s alright!

Qin Jinhai succumbed to exhaustion, slumping beside Fu Bing, asleep almost instantly.

Xiaomei gasped, then quickly covered her mouth. "Auntie Ning, what do we do now? There are so many reporters outside. If they get a photo of this, they’ll definitely twist it into something scandalous."

Auntie Ning was silent for a moment. "Call Mu He in." Hospitals were rife with gossip; it was best to trust their own people.

Xiaomei hurried out, but Mu He, who had been just outside moments before, was nowhere to be seen.

In the adjacent room, Ren Zhi was helping medical staff push Ren Ye’s gurney back. Seeing Xiaomei, Ren Zhi asked, "Has Sister Bing woken up yet?" Lately, Yang Ningzheng and the others had influenced him, and he had started calling her Sister Bing too.

"Not yet. How about Mr. Ren? Was the surgery successful?"

"With Old Master Jian performing the surgery himself, there shouldn’t be any problem."

He had also been in the car during the accident, sitting in the front with the driver while his second uncle and Fu Bing chatted in the back. The truck had slammed right into the rear door, precisely where Fu Bing was sitting. In that instant, his second uncle had pulled Fu Bing into his arms, shielding her tightly.

If it weren’t for saving Fu Bing, his second uncle... Ren Zhi couldn’t bring himself to dwell on the thought. There was nothing wrong with his second uncle saving Fu Bing. She was the daughter of the woman his uncle loved most, so it was natural for him to protect her. Besides, Fu Bing had saved his second uncle before. From any perspective, there was no issue with his actions.

Yet, as his second uncle’s nephew, Ren Zhi felt deep anguish. His uncle had only recently recovered, only to suffer another severe injury. It was uncertain if this one would leave lasting consequences.

Seeing the troubled look on Ren Zhi’s face, Xiaomei said, "Thank you and Mr. Ren for your help. If it weren’t for you, my sister..."

"Don’t cry. Take good care of Sister Bing," Ren Zhi patted her shoulder. "I can’t leave my second uncle’s side right now. I’ll head back in."

"Okay, yes."

Xiaomei searched all around but couldn’t find Mu He. She hadn’t been back in the room long when Mu He returned with a late-night snack. Seemingly oblivious to Qin Jinhai asleep on Fu Bing’s bed, he whispered, "After you eat, I’ll have the driver take you home. Come back in the morning to relieve me."

They could have hired a caregiver, but none of them felt at ease doing so. The accident had been so sudden and terrifying that they didn’t dare let Fu Bing out of their sight.

Ever since Auntie Ning was poisoned, her health had significantly declined. Her body had become like a sieve; the various health supplements she took passed right through her like water. No matter how much she consumed, none of it was absorbed, doing nothing to improve her constitution. She couldn’t stay up late, nor could she sit for long periods.

After Mu He saw Auntie Ning and Xiaomei off, he returned to the hospital room to find Qin Jinhai awake. Mu He was about to apologize when Qin Jinhai gestured for him to be silent. Understanding, Mu He quietly left.

Qin Jinhai didn’t dare hold Fu Bing, afraid of pressing on her injuries. He could only gently hold her hand.

Several scrapes marred her smooth, fair skin. The wounds had been treated. Against her pale skin, the dark brown scrapes looked shockingly stark.
