Chapter 110: Chapter 110 Death, Perhaps a Release

When Fu Bing left the house, Lu Yuan and Shen Linxing happened to be coming to see her.

Fu Bing said, "I have an urgent matter to handle. Would you like to come with me?"

Without hesitation, Lu Yuan answered, "No problem."

Shen Linxing had no objections.

The three of them boarded a van together.

Lu Yuan remarked, "It seems Wu Shi likes to drive pink little cars."

"Yes, he likes all sorts of pastel colors," Fu Bing explained. "We are heading to the sanatorium next. My great-grandmother is critically ill. I desperately need your help because my medical experience isn’t as extensive as yours."

Shen Linxing said, "If you have medical records, you can send them to us first. We can analyze them while we are on the road."

Fu Bing created a group chat for the three of them and sent them Elder Madam Chu’s medical records. She then addressed Shen Linxing, "I’m sorry about the competition—for taking the only chance you and Hu Yao had to face each other."

Shen Linxing was surprised that Fu Bing would say such a thing. She didn’t immediately say it was okay.

Instead, after a long silence, she finally spoke, "It truly upsets me that I didn’t get the chance to defeat Hu Yao fairly. But I also understand that from a long-term perspective, the value of you defeating Hu Yao is greater than the value of me fighting him. If I were the organizing committee or the captain, I would have chosen you too."

Shen Linxing certainly felt resentment, as avenging her brother had become a deep-seated obsession.

Having her longstanding obsession suddenly disrupted did shake her mentally.

However, she also knew that Fu Bing did not need to apologize to her for this.

Fu Bing also had a grudge against Hu Yao.

Why should Fu Bing’s quest for revenge for her master take precedence over mine?

Fu Bing stared deeply at Shen Linxing. "I really appreciate your open-mindedness. Thank you for still being willing to stand by me. If there’s ever anything you need, please tell me at any time."

Shen Linxing was slightly astonished. Fu Bing’s direct praise made her a bit embarrassed.

Lu Yuan was intently reading the medical records.

Elder Madam Chu’s health was relatively good compared to other elderly people.

But she also had underlying conditions, especially concerning her liver and lungs.

When Fu Bing arrived, Fu Chan, Yunhui, and Uncle Yun were already there.

Yunhui explained to Fu Bing, "The sanatorium’s doctors are performing a resuscitation."

"How is the situation?"

"Hard to say."

"If possible, I would like to bring my two friends in to have a look."

Fu Chan sneered, "Considering how your bodyguard treated the old lady yesterday, you still have the nerve to say you want to see the doctors resuscitate her. You probably don’t want her to survive today, do you?"

Fu Bing calmly said, "I wouldn’t carelessly burden myself or my friends with responsibility for a death."

Yunhui hesitated for a moment, then spoke, "Please, you and your friends go in and have a look."

Uncle Yun stopped Fu Bing. "No entry allowed! You came to Jiangnan to oversee Ya Rui’s takeover of the Chu Family Embroidery House. Now, there’s no one who wishes more for the old lady’s death than you. Once she dies, the Embroidery House will fall apart."

Fu Bing responded indifferently, "If I remember correctly, Ya Rui put you in charge of Ya Garden. You yourself have suggested to Ya Rui that Ya Garden should take over the Embroidery House. What are you trying to perform now?"

Yunhui looked at Uncle Yun in shock. "You’ve been working for Ya Garden? Have you been opposing me all these years?"

Uncle Yun did not know how to respond immediately. "I can explain this to you later. Right now, the most important thing is to not let Fu Bing and her friends in. With you away from Yunxi Lane, who will stop Fu Bing and Ya Rui once the old lady dies?"

Yunhui stared at Fu Bing, then shifted her gaze to the embroidery on her outfit.

The light green silk threads, though used sparingly as embellishments, made an ordinary piece of clothing distinctive.

Every piece of clothing Fu Bing wore was like this.

Fu Bing was definitely not, as she claimed, merely ’somewhat skilled’ in embroidery.

She might very well be Ya Rui herself.

Even if she wasn’t Ya Rui, given her relationship with Ya Rui, Ya Rui wouldn’t treat the Chu Family Embroidery House unfairly after acquiring it.

Having realized this, Yunhui stepped aside. "Please, Miss Fu."

Uncle Yun angrily said, "Why are you still so naive?! No wonder the Embroidery House is deteriorating; it’s all because you’re foolish."

"I have my own thoughts." Yunhui ignored his abuse.

Fu Chan respected Yunhui’s thoughts and said to Uncle Yun, "I support Huihui."

"You..." Uncle Yun was infuriated by these two.

Fu Bing, Lu Yuan, and Shen Linxing entered Elder Madam Chu’s room.

There were many medical devices in the room, more professional than in many hospitals.

When Doctor Liu saw the three enter, she didn’t feel at all that she and her team were being distrusted.

"Miss Fu, please come here with your friends. The Elder Madam’s airway is blocked. We need to open it quickly so she can breathe on her own."

Fu Bing said to Lu Yuan, "Great-grandmother dislikes physical contact with men. Please step aside for a moment."

Lu Yuan turned his back without objection.

Shen Linxing looked at the monitors and hesitated to act.

After taking her pulse, Fu Bing crushed the Cardioprotective Pill from Aunt Ning into a fine powder. She had Elder Madam Chu hold it in her mouth and then swiftly inserted the needles.

Shen Linxing stared at Fu Bing’s profile and movements. She possessed the intuition and practiced skill of a seasoned physician, seemingly in complete control of the situation.

Doctor Liu stepped back to give Fu Bing enough space.

Fu Bing closely monitored Elder Madam Chu’s condition.

Wu Shi’s actions that day hadn’t caused physical injury to Elder Madam Chu, but they had undoubtedly inflicted immense psychological trauma.

She had lived gracefully all her life, yet in her old age, she was treated in an undignified manner.

The conviction that had sustained her for so long had shattered. It was only natural that her physical health would falter.

Fu Bing continued inserting needles.

She knew that even if she revived Great-grandmother, her spirit wouldn’t return.

Fu Bing closely observed Elder Madam Chu’s condition.

After the last needle was inserted, Elder Madam Chu opened her eyes.

She stared directly at Fu Bing, her voice a mere whisper as she questioned, "Are you still trying to humiliate me?"

"Having experienced the agony of being near death, you should want to live even more. Fu Chan and Yunhui are outside this door, waiting for your recovery. It’s just that you’ve never valued them."

Elder Madam Chu ignored Fu Bing and turned her head to feign sleep.

Fu Bing removed the needles and let Doctor Liu continue the care.

After Fu Bing left, Shen Linxing quickly took Elder Madam Chu’s pulse, her eyes flashing with shock.

Were Fu Bing’s medical skills truly this formidable?

She had thought it was just widespread praise, but Fu Bing’s medical skills were truly beyond reach.

Fu Bing said to Yunhui, "She has woken up. She hasn’t changed. What you hoped for won’t come to pass. Being alive might not be good for her. With no one to carry on her devotion to embroidery and no close family by her side, she’s just emptily guarding this place. Can this even be called living?"

Yunhui was taken aback by Fu Bing’s words.

"What do you mean?"

"Exactly what I said. I saved her life, but I don’t feel it’s something to rejoice over."

Before arriving, Fu Bing had wanted to extend her great-grandmother’s life. However, seeing her awake, she realized that being alive might not be what everyone desires.

Death, perhaps, is a release.
