Chapter 480: Chapter 480: Gained Weight Again
When the plane finally came to a halt, the pilot walked over, helped Jiang Mianmian open the cabin door, and said loudly, "Mianmian, we’ve arrived, come, let me help you out."
"Thank you, uncle," Jiang Mianmian said excitedly, as she had been wondering how to carry all her things.
"Young comrade, no need to be polite, serving the people is our duty. Come, give me your things," the pilot said as he took everything from Jiang Mianmian’s hands and led her out.
The place where they stopped also belonged to the military area, where ordinary people could not enter.
After following the pilot for over ten minutes, Jiang Mianmian finally saw the gate, where she immediately spotted her parents frantically looking inside.
"Mom and Dad, I’m here, I’m back," Jiang Mianmian joyfully shouted as she hopped and skipped towards them.
"Brother Hai, Brother Hai, it’s Mianmian," Su Wanyu said, tugging Jiang Changhai’s arm excitedly upon seeing her daughter whom she hadn’t seen for more than ten days.
"Haha, I told you that the plane that just passed over was the right one, our daughter even looks a bit plumper. Seems she had a great time in the Capital City," Jiang Changhai said.
Earlier, when the plane had flown over, Jiang Changhai had pointed at it, confidently stating that it was definitely Jiang Mianmian’s flight. Although Su Wanyu had her doubts, she had not contradicted him, and it turned out he was right.
"Hmm, Brother Hai, you’re the best," Su Wanyu said, her eyes on her daughter, while not forgetting to praise him.
"Are these your mother and father?" the pilot asked after hearing Jiang Mianmian’s reference to them.
"Yes, uncle, they are here to pick me up," Jiang Mianmian said, looking up and beaming.
The pilot handed over the items to Jiang Changhai at the gate, smiling, "Hello, I’m the helicopter pilot, and these are all of Comrade Jiang Mianmian’s things."
"Ah, thank you, thank you, comrade. Do you smoke?" Jiang Changhai asked as he reached for his cigarettes.
"No, thanks, we have a rule against accepting even the smallest gift from the public," the pilot firmly declined, "Ensuring Jiang Mianmian’s safe return to you is my mission completed. I have other duties to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now."
"Ah, thanks, brother. Go ahead with your duties, we won’t hold you up," Jiang Changhai said as he took the items and hurriedly added.
"Thank you, uncle, goodbye, uncle," Jiang Mianmian saluted the pilot in proper military fashion, making the pilot laugh aloud.
Once the pilot had left, leaving just their family of three, Jiang Changhai hugged Jiang Mianmian and said contentedly, "Mmm, daughter, you’ve put on weight during your trip to the Capital City."
Ever since Jiang Mianmian appeared, Su Wanyu’s gaze had not left her daughter; she held Jiang Mianmian’s hand, feeling as if she could never look enough.
"Hehe, I didn’t even notice, it’s all because the food in the Capital City is too delicious. By the way, mom and dad, let’s head home. Brother Yu’s friends also bought us some roast duck, and it might still be warm if we go now," Jiang Mianmian pointed out, referring to one of the bags in Jiang Changhai’s hand.
"There’s roast duck too? Let’s hurry home then. We can make it in time for lunch. I was just telling your dad that when you came back, we would go out to a state-run restaurant for a meal, but let’s eat at home now," Su Wanyu commanded immediately, delighted at the mention of roast duck from the Capital City.
The bus station wasn’t far from there, and the family walked hand in hand to the bus station, chatting and laughing all the way.
After about an hour on the bus, Jiang Mianmian finally saw the familiar sights.
