Chapter 335: Chapter 335: Eating Hot Pot Meal 1

Watching her childishly gleeful dad, Jiang Mianmian laughed even more, "There’s nothing right now, I’ll buy it when I think of something. Dad, Brother Yu said he mailed us some chocolate liqueurs and pineapples, let’s go pick them up first."

"Oh? Pineapples? Aren’t those things pretty expensive?" Jiang Changhai had never tasted that luxurious fruit before; he had only heard truck drivers from the factory who ran to the south talk about how expensive it was.

The father-daughter duo went to the post office to collect the items Yu Cheng had sent and brought them back to their new house.

After deciding to take the entrance exam early, Jiang Mianmian continued to study as before, but Teacher Liu and Meng Weidong now paid more attention to her than previously, which gave Jiang Mianmian a bit of pressure.

If she didn’t do well, wouldn’t the teachers and the principal be disappointed?

Fortunately, Jiang Changhai and Su Wanyu treated her as usual, without showing too much concern over her progress in studies.

However, she still needed to complete a set of test papers for the teachers and to reassure herself, so a few days later, Jiang Mianmian went to the office to see Teacher Liu.

Seeing her come in, Teacher Liu immediately asked with concern, "What’s the matter, Jiang Mianmian? Do you have any problems with your studies?"

"No, Teacher, I’ve finished the fifth grade curriculum, and I would like the textbooks for the second semester of fifth grade," said Jiang Mianmian.

"Finished already, haha, that’s great. Teacher Meng and I just finished making some test papers. Come, do these two sets of papers first, and then I’ll give you the books for next semester," she responded.

Teacher Liu immediately took out the test papers she had prepared.

"Okay, Teacher Liu." Jiang Mianmian was used to this routine, she picked up a pen and started to answer the questions.

This time, just like before, Jiang Mianmian completed both sets of test papers in a little over forty minutes, scoring a perfect hundred on both without any suspense.

Teacher Liu and Meng Weidong looked at Jiang Mianmian’s clean, tidy test papers, nodded in great satisfaction, and gained even more confidence in her. They were no longer as anxious as before.

After that, they did not frequently check on Jiang Mianmian’s study progress anymore but let her study at her own pace.

That same evening, Jiang Mianmian and her parents went out for a nice dinner at a state-owned restaurant.

After dinner, the family strolled leisurely toward Stone Bridge Village, chatting as they walked.

"Brother Hai, we’ve also bought almost everything we need for the new house, it’s ready to be lived in. When shall we tell mom and dad?" Su Wanyu asked.

Jiang Changhai said, "I’ll talk to mom and dad about it tonight. Just don’t say anything."

Jiang Changhai was worried that his mother might say something unpleasant to his wife, so he didn’t want her to get involved.

"Okay," Su Wanyu nodded in agreement, knowing that this was something only Jiang Changhai could address.

Upon arriving home, Jiang Changhai whispered in the courtyard, "Wife, you and Mianmian go inside and stay there. Don’t come out."

"Alright, talk to them well," Su Wanyu fearing an argument, gave a word of caution.

"I know, don’t worry."

The Jiang family members liked to gather in the living room after dinner to chat and gossip about other families. Seeing the family of three come in, they greeted, "Hey, Eldest, you’re back!"

"Yeah, we’re back."

Once his wife and daughter had entered the room and closed the door, Jiang Changhai started to speak, "Mom, dad, I have something to tell you."

"What is it?" Zhang Guihua asked casually.

With the same nonchalant tone, Jiang Changhai said, "I bought a house in town some days ago and plan to move into the city this week. The day after tomorrow, which is this weekend, you guys should come over to my new place for a warm-pot meal."

Upon hearing this, the entire room fell silent instantaneously, as all the Jiang family members looked at him as if they hadn’t quite grasped what he had just said.
