Chapter 299: Chapter 292

The morning sunlight streamed into the dining room through the floor-to-ceiling windows as Emily walked in, feeling refreshed.

She had slept very deeply last night and didn’t even know when Carlos had returned to his room.

She had just sat down when she noticed Carlos across from her, leisurely sipping black coffee, but with two prominent dark circles under his eyes.

"Brother, did you go out stealing last night?"

Maria also just sat down, biting into her toast and teasing with a grin,

"Looking at you, could it be that you’re sexually frustrated?"

Carlos shot her a cold glance without saying anything.

He absolutely couldn’t say that last night Emily had used him as a human pillow, tormenting him all over, and because he didn’t dare to move, he had to endure until dawn, ultimately only able to relieve himself with a cold shower. fre(e)webnove.l.c.om

Evan Palmer put down the newspaper in his hand and elegantly cut into his steak, his eyes sweeping over the couple, a sarcastic curve on his lips.

"Emily, I heard you got shut out yesterday?

Miss Yuriko didn’t even bother with you?"

He lazily sipped his tea,

"Don’t say I didn’t warn you, but if I were you, I’d pay a bit more attention to my attire and speech when meeting with COCO’s representatives."

Emily glanced down at her clothes; she had changed into business attire, tailored by herself, with not a single expensive accessory on her.

A woman like Yuriko, who held her head high, naturally looked down on her.

Mrs. Carter had been watching them with a smile, but upon hearing this, suddenly put down her knife and fork, her brows furrowing slightly,

"Evan?

You let Emily handle the COCO collaboration?"

Her tone carried a hint of reproach,

"Everyone on the board knows how difficult COCO negotiations are; almost no one could nail it down.

How could you assign such a tough task to Emily, especially in her condition?"

"Mom, it was my own decision.

After all, I’d rather interact with people and learn more about the Carter Clan’s projects than face a pile of documents every day at the company.

Besides, Carlos has been helping me recently, so my workload isn’t heavy."

Emily spoke truthfully; she had initially thought that without Oliver, her job stress would be much greater.

But unexpectedly, Carlos’s efficiency was quite high; he would pre-process some ordinary documents, only handing over the most important ones to her, allowing her to finish her work by early morning.

"But the difficulty of the COCO collaboration is indeed too high. Although they previously opened a counter at our Moonlight Department Store, that was a one-year contract. To change it to a long-term contract seems almost impossible."

Mrs. Carter remarked.

"The consumer power in our country is very high. The Carter Clan’s malls are all in the country’s most bustling locations; I’m confident we can secure this collaboration."

Emily, however, was steadfast.

Evan Palmer listened with a sneer in his heart.

The previous collaboration with Sterling Research Institute was entirely due to Emily’s deep relationship with Mr. William.

This time, dealing with Miss Yuriko, who was famously difficult and a narrow-minded nationalist, Emily was in for a tough time.

Evan Palmer could almost see the scene of Emily and Carlos being embarrassingly kicked out of the Carter Tower.

Maria’s eyes lit up instantly upon hearing this, and she excitedly wiped her mouth,

"Sister-in-law! Are we going to have a long-term collaboration with COCO? That’s great! If we can secure their counter, our performance will surely skyrocket!"

COCO is an international brand that emerged in the past decade, quickly standing alongside century-old luxury brands.

But their counters are extremely rare, with only one in the country, located at Moonlight Department Store, and whenever new products are released, the queues can almost crush the entrance.

But this year, COCO suddenly refused to renew, with rumors suggesting they wanted to withdraw all counters back to the Sakura Kingdom.

Emily pursed her lips and hadn’t yet spoken when Evan Palmer chuckled lightly,

"You better be careful. COCO pulling their counter would significantly impact Moonlight Department Store.

Rumor has it that Miss Yuriko came this time with the intention of completely severing ties."

He looked at Emily meaningfully, "Are you sure you can handle it?"

Carlos put down his coffee cup, his voice low,

"We have our own arrangements; we will go and speak with Miss Yuriko about COCO."

"Arrangements?"

Evan Palmer raised an eyebrow, "Is it to arrange for Emily to hit a wall, or to humiliate herself?"

Mrs. Carter frowned, "Evan, watch your words."

Evan Palmer shrugged,

"I’m just stating the facts. Even the most senior business teams of the Carter Clan couldn’t handle COCO’s negotiations, so why could Emily?"

Emily raised her eyes, her gaze calm yet firm,

"Because I am the General Manager of the Carter Clan, and I won’t let COCO’s counter be withdrawn."

Maria clapped excitedly, "Sister-in-law is so cool!"

Carlos looked at her, a flash of amusement in his eyes.

Evan Palmer sneered, "Then we’ll see."

Mrs. Carter sighed, but her gaze at Emily showed more concern,

"Emily, with the COCO matter, just do your best; don’t strain yourself too much."

Emily smiled faintly, "Mom, don’t worry."

Mrs. Carter was unaware of the bet between Emily and Evan Palmer.

After breakfast, Carlos and Emily went to the hotel where Yuriko was staying.

"Carlos, you handled the last collaboration with COCO, right? So you’ve dealt with Miss Yuriko before?"

Emily suddenly recalled.

Carlos’s expression changed slightly, seeming a bit embarrassed.

"It was mainly Oliver who handled it. I did meet Yuriko, but I arranged for an internationally renowned male model for her."

Carlos simply admitted.
