Chapter 216: Chapter 166: Let’s Start Over, Again.

Mistress?

Girlfriend?

The relationship between Tang Xi and Fu Tingzhou had already hit rock bottom, and she harbored no further illusions about him. She couldn’t even imagine what her future would look like, confined in Qingfeng Garden, with no future except taking one step at a time.

She was locked up at home all day, what could possibly happen.

Every day was a repeat of the boring life of yesterday.

Then, there was silence between the two of them.

A very long silence.

After dinner, Tang Xi followed Fu Tingzhou’s footsteps to the underground garage. She had arrived with Nie Xiaoyun, but she left sitting in Fu Tingzhou’s car.

As soon as she got into the car, she smelled that familiar scent of ebony mixed with a faint smell of tobacco that she now found repellant.

She frowned.

It seemed as if she was forcing herself to accept this odor.

After not seeing each other for two months, the sentiment between her and Fu Tingzhou hadn’t improved at all, instead, it became extraordinarily stagnant, unable to move forward nor retreat. As if frozen at an ice point, she hated Fu Tingzhou and wanted to flee but couldn’t.

As for Fu Tingzhou, perhaps during these two months he remembered she was his toy and decided to bestow a little attention. His mercurial nature was something she couldn’t fathom, nor did she wish to fathom anymore.

Indeed, she wanted to avoid it.

Avoid everything about Fu Tingzhou.

She had prepared herself for the possibility that this man would forget her, completely and utterly forget her existence, even if it meant languishing alone in Qingfeng Garden for a lifetime...

But it was Fu Tingzhou who broke the silence first.

Fu Tingzhou’s voice left no room for interjection, "On Saturday afternoon, I’ll have Xu Ze come to pick you up."

Tang Xi glanced at him.

Right, this man was always giving orders.

He wasn’t here to ask for her opinion.

Xu Ze drives very steadily.

But everything happened in an instant, as the car left the garage and was about to enter the driveway, a van suddenly rushed over—

Xu Ze shouted, "Mr. Fu, watch out!!"

And then he swerved sharply.

In that moment, a hand pressed down on her head, pulling her into a familiar yet strange cold embrace; Fu Tingzhou held her tight in his arms. The car rolled over violently, with shards of glass flying everywhere.

When everything calmed down.

Tang Xi’s ears were ringing, and her body ached all over.

She smelled the strong scent of engine oil mixed with the scent of Fu Tingzhou, the faint chill helped her regain her composure. She raised her hand, pushing on Fu Tingzhou, whose arms were like steel beams, keeping her securely shielded.

"Fu Tingzhou—" Tang Xi coughed.

Fu Tingzhou opened his eyes, his body was covered in glass shards, with several cuts on his forehead. He moved slightly, lowering his head to look at Tang Xi, and only relaxed his deeply furrowed brows upon seeing her unharmed.

"Hmm."

Onlookers started to gather around.

Some called the emergency center and the police.

Some people helped to pull Fu Tingzhou and Tang Xi out; Tang Xi was almost completely uninjured, not even a scratch, whereas Fu Tingzhou had several cuts on his face and a head injury, though they did not seem too serious at first glance.

However,

Xu Ze had more severe injuries, his legs trapped in the car seat, almost unable to move.

Tang Xi immediately went over to check on Xu Ze.

Xu Ze, in pain, had a pale face but was still concerned about Fu Tingzhou and Tang Xi, "Mr. Fu, Miss Tang, are you both alright?"

Tang Xi took off her scarf to bandage Xu Ze’s leg wounds. Xu Ze’s leg was trapped in the car seat, covered in blood. Tang Xi’s expression was grave, but her hands were busy as she reassured Xu Ze, "You’ll be fine, don’t be afraid."

Xu Ze weakly smiled, "Miss Tang, I trust your medical skills. If you say it’s fine, then it surely is."

A faint smile curled the corners of Tang Xi’s lips, "I didn’t say it’s fine. Though you’re bleeding, it’s not a lot—thankfully, no major artery was hit. But your leg is definitely broken."

Xu Ze endured the pain, "Mr. Fu, that Wuling van just now, I remember the license plate... But I suspect, they did it on purpose, and they were targeting us. Anyone daring to do this in broad daylight must have a fake plate, remembering the number...it’s useless."

Fu Tingzhou frowned at him, "Don’t worry about that, just focus on healing."

Fu Tingzhou was someone who disliked showing emotions, so he was cold towards everyone. His tone of speaking was indifferent, but actually, Xu Ze understood, this was Fu Tingzhou’s way of showing concern, "Mr. Fu, I’m alright, Miss Tang said it’s not serious, a fracture will heal in two months. It’s good that you and Miss Tang aren’t hurt."
