Chapter 170: President-Level Good Husband
Chapter 170: Chapter 170: President-Level Good Husband
"Wait a minute!"
Christopher Weaver suddenly interrupted Ella Weaver, looking unpleasant as he said, "What if we divorce and Harry Hunter really makes me go bankrupt? He doesn’t seem like he’s joking!"
Rose Parker feared he might change his mind, and after some thought, she whispered, "Christopher, there’s something I’ve never told you. The one who kidnapped us last time wasn’t Alexander, but this Young Master Hunter, the one Isabella instigated, we almost lost our lives!"
"Impossible! Wasn’t it Alexander Parker who did it? Don’t speak well of your nephew; he’s no good!"
"I’m truly not lying to you. Alexander may be a bit obsessive, but he never lies. He even said he didn’t do it! During the days we were missing, Ella went to the police, and Harry Hunter also went, then we were released. Doesn’t this explain things?"
"Was it really him?"
"Absolutely! This Young Master Hunter is even more ruthless than Alexander, and with him, Isabella might follow suit. It’s better to let Isabella marry Alexander. My brother and sister-in-law don’t mind her having been married and will give us a large dowry!"
Christopher Weaver gritted his teeth, "Fine! Ella, contact Miss Lewis, and I’ll contact the Hunters!"
Harry Hunter might not be as formidable as he claims; he can’t be intimidated by the word "bankrupt"!
...
In the car, Harry Hunter never let go of Isabella Weaver’s hand.
"Isabella, would you like me to get you some bodyguards?"
"No need."
Isabella Weaver shook her head. Taking a bunch of bodyguards everywhere was too ostentatious for her, and since she didn’t earn much now, she didn’t have the money for bodyguards. Using Harry Hunter’s money felt uncomfortable.
She had initially thought marrying him would bring him trouble, but to her surprise, when he said he had his own share of troubles, he was telling the truth; the Lewis Family was indeed persistent.
"The Weaver Family’s maid, did you arrange her?"
"Did she make something for you?"
"Yes, her skills are quite good. Thanks to her, I wasn’t hungry at noon and ate a full meal."
Harry Hunter laughed, "She was originally with Aunt Hart and the others, a genuine maid, with no special identity. Otherwise, she would have sent me messages long ago."
He had casually placed someone inside, both to gather some information and in case Isabella Weaver returned home, she could make some of her favorite dishes.
Since the little wife had been fed well, he should give this maid a bigger bonus later.
"Do you have work to handle? Am I holding you up?"
"No, ensuring the safety of one’s wife is every husband’s duty, isn’t it?"
"Weren’t you in a meeting?"
"Yes."
"Then how could I not be holding you up? You should get back to the company!"
It turned out Connor wasn’t lying to Cherry Lewis; Harry really was very busy. Yet, despite being so occupied, he had answered her call and even went to the Weaver Family to bring her out.
She really hadn’t expected him to come.
"It’s not going to matter much," Harry Hunter reached out to embrace Isabella Weaver’s waist, feeling all the day’s fatigue vanish, "Do you have interviews this afternoon?"
Isabella Weaver raised her hand to check her watch, only to remember she’d sold it, and couldn’t use it.
Harry Hunter raised his wrist, glanced at the time, and said, "Quarter past three."
"Then there’s still time, I need to go."
"Where to, I’ll take you."
"No need, I’ll take a cab myself. You should go back to the company!" Isabella Weaver knew that as a CEO of his stature, every minute of his time was extremely valuable, enough to earn her decades or centuries of her earnings.
Harry Hunter held her waist tight, not letting her out of the car, "Come on, give me the address. If I can’t even drop my wife off at an interview, being a CEO would be too boring."
