After Being Sold Out By The Empire, I Decide To Assist The Demon King
Chapter 57 - 56: The Forest and the Sunset

Chapter 57: Chapter 56: The Forest and the Sunset

Sometimes, a speech doesn’t need a lengthy script. In fact, a heartfelt speech from Satan Ye could be more effective than imagined.

It’s debatable whether the demonic creatures need motivational speeches before a battle begins. Yila wasn’t sure if the demonic creatures would stage a mutiny, but without a doubt...

Now, whether it was the Headless Knights, Black Knights, or other demonic creatures, they all harbored an indescribable emotion in their hearts.

It could be anger towards the traitors, or perhaps recognition of Satan Ye, the Crimson Dragon Demon King. The demonic creatures marching now were full of determination, like arrows shot forth or spears destined to pierce a traitor’s throat.

"Satan Ye, your speech was really effective."

Yila said softly. Knowing that Satan Ye never thought about being "effective" or "ineffective," he added, "If an Imperial General who has guided countless battles said what you did earlier, I wouldn’t be surprised."

"So, I did pretty well?"

Satan Ye asked, blushing. She flew alongside Yila in the air, guiding the entire army at the front... The Headless Knights couldn’t demonstrate their speed in the forest.

Thus, Satan Ye and Yila easily flew ahead.

Of course, even if the Headless Knights were out of the forest, they still couldn’t match the speed of the Crimson Dragon... After all, the Crimson Dragon was a high-ranking species that could become a Demon King in the Main Material Plane.

"You did great."

Yila praised directly. He had deeply realized that straightforward praise was better than a bland compliment that could be misunderstood as sarcasm... *At least for a young girl, it was better; for a King, it might be different.*

But an Empire’s King was a King, while the Demon King Territory’s King could be a young girl or at least a cute loli before being a King.

"Did you see? Everyone is moving forward with passion. I like to call it anger."

Yila sighed, gently patting Satan Ye’s head. Seeing her puzzled expression, he said, "*Anger brings strength—whether good or bad... but it is something not to be wasted, for it breaks the stagnant waters.*"

"Like delicious food?"

Recalling Yila’s statement "Only good food and inner anger should not be wasted," Satan Ye said, looking down at the marching demons, "Everyone seems to be quite motivated now."

"Mr. Black and Miss Lodya too, everyone seems full of energy."

Yila smiled and nodded at these words. Satan Ye might not know the significance of her speech, but Yila did, so he asked, "Do you know why everyone is so full of energy?"

"Is it because they want to clear the rebellion for the Demon King Territory?"

"Pretty much."

Yila answered, looking at the path in the forest. With blazing flames, he widened the not-so-broad road in an instant, burning trees, grass, and animals to ashes within moments.

Yila said "pretty much," but clearly, there was a slight difference.

"Because you are the Demon King, and you said those words, everyone has no reason not to be angry."

Yila said, watching the marching troops below. Seeing them moving on the still steaming, widened path, he said, "*Everyone recognizes you, they feel your discontent, your rage, and thus they suppress these emotions in their hearts, to explode for you.*"

Satan Ye naturally believed these words. She blinked gently, her tail joyfully swaying behind her, saying, "Yes, everyone is such good people~ I’m really lucky to have met them."

*This shouldn’t be something a King says, but for Satan Ye, it didn’t feel incongruous at all.*

Grier Forest, located at the southern edge of the Demon King Territory, formed a natural barrier separating the Demon King Territory from other demonic realms.

If the Empire or other countries wanted to reach the heart of the demonic control area, they could either occupy the border and cross this forest or launch an attack from the northern part of the demonic realm via water routes.

Despite the current betrayal, the Demon King Territory’s naval forces, bolstered by the Sea Demon troops, were never easy to break even during their decline. The imposing warships at the naval ports were proof of this.

The original path was used for the Demon King’s troops to leave and support the front lines or other territories, but due to lack of rapid military activities, the official road had become overgrown as the trees grew.

Yila was intercepted by the people of Demon King City after floating downstream through this forest, exhausted to his limits physically and magically on that day.

*This makes Yila seem like a precious cargo...*

This forest was enormous, and the army might only cross it by tomorrow morning, but with Yila clearing the path, they might reach the plains and camp there by tonight.

Now, the Headless Knight troops were the ones dragging the marching speed.

No matter how maneuverable their warhorses were, four legs couldn’t accelerate efficiently on a narrow road.

They couldn’t be as tireless as the Black Knights or as agile in the forest as the Insect Man.

Not to mention Yila and Satan Ye, maintaining their flight, and the group of Harpies... The Insect-man Hunters, who could fly too, although not for long.

As Satan Ye chatted, dusk approached quickly, and Yila and Satan Ye saw a color different from the darkening forest ahead.

The trees ahead became sparse, and the beautiful red sunset pierced through the leaves, illuminating the darkening forest in a gorgeous red hue.

Emerging from the forest, a beautiful sunset appeared before them.

"The darkness has passed, Satan Ye."

Yila said softly.

"Yes."

Satan Ye nodded.
