Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Just Strangle Him to Death!

"Mr. Ye, I checked your schedule. You only have one class this afternoon. I sincerely invite you to the company for a work inspection!"

On the other end of the line, the man’s voice carried a faint smile, "I prepared a gift for you."

???

"What gift?"

"You’ll know when you get here!"

"Fine, I’ll come. Who’s afraid of who?"

"Alright, I’ll wait for you!"

After hanging up, Ye Li was baffled.

No festival, no holiday—only the upcoming 618 sale.

What on earth is this random gift?

Even though bewildered, Ye Li still went to Fu Group after her class at four in the afternoon.

Getting off the car and looking up at the skyscraping company building, Ye Li hesitated briefly.

She had been here many times, but it was always through the underground parking lot, taking the CEO’s private elevator straight to the top-floor lounge.

What was she supposed to do now?

If she’d known, she’d have asked the driver to drop her off at the underground parking lot earlier.

She dialed Fu Yanci’s number, but after a few rings, no one answered.

She then called Xiang Yang, who picked up instantly, "Madam, have you arrived? I’m at the first-floor reception. Where should I pick you up?"

Ye Li exhaled in relief, "I’m here. Heading over now."

After hanging up, she walked towards the first floor. The moment she spotted the glass doors, she straightened her back yet also lowered her gaze slightly.

Hei Xiaoli scoffed with arms crossed: You’re Mrs. Fu—can’t you show the aura of a boss lady? Anyone who doesn’t know might think you’re here for a college internship interview.

Bai Xiaoli said cautiously: When you go into the elevator, will the receptionists gossip and speculate about who you are? But with Special Assistant Xiang here, that shouldn’t happen, right?

Before Ye Li could decide which foot to step in with first, she heard a rustling sound. "She’s here, she’s here! Quick, quick!"

Who’s here?

Why the rush?

Ye Li froze, then a wave of enthusiastic greetings boomed in her ears.

"Welcome, Madam, to inspect our work!"

"Thank you, Madam, for the afternoon tea!"

"Madam, you are so beautiful! I’m Lisa, the receptionist..."

Behind the beautifully designed, curved reception desk, multiple receptionists beamed brightly at her, looking like they might burst into applause at any moment.

To the left, in the display area, several employees giving product presentations nodded and smiled, continuing their work seamlessly.

To the right, in the lounge area, Xiang Yang stood with the entire secretary’s office team, lined up in neatly organized rows.

Xiang Yang gestured toward the elevator area, "Madam, this way, please..."

Ye Li: !!!

Roughly, faintly, seemingly... she realized what Fu Yanci’s so-called "gift" was.

"Hello, everyone!"

Avoiding the beaming receptionists still standing ramrod straight behind the desk, Ye Li headed straight for the elevators with steady steps and a straight gaze.

Xiang Yang escorted Ye Li into the CEO’s private elevator.

The rest of the secretary’s office boarded the adjacent elevator.

As the elevator ascended, Ye Li sighed lightly and looked at Xiang Yang with helpless eyes, "What on earth is Fu Yanci up to?"

It seemed to be... some kind of public declaration of romance?

Xiang Yang’s smile was warm, "The Boss said that after inviting the entire company to have morning tea and afternoon tea so many times, it wouldn’t do if they hadn’t even seen the lady of the house yet. So, Madam, he wanted you to come by and make an appearance."

Ye Li: !!!

Ding!

The elevator stopped on the top floor. As the doors slid open, Ye Li hesitated, glancing at Xiang Yang.

She was terrified of stepping out and being greeted by yet another line of people applauding and welcoming her to the secretary’s office for an inspection.

What an embarrassing, socially fatal experience that would be!

Noticing Ye Li’s hesitation, Xiang Yang stepped out of the elevator first, "After you, Madam."

The secretary’s office was quiet yet bustling.

The pantry and lounge were well-equipped.

There were voices, phone calls, occasional whirring of a copier, and the shuffling noise of a shredder.

Fu Yanci seemed like he might be a graduate from the Appearance Appreciation Society.

The male secretaries, all in sharp suits, exuded their own charms.

The female secretaries, either poised or radiant, each had their own unique appeal.

Everyone was immersed in their work.

If they happened to pass by her, they’d greet her with a calm and friendly, "Madam, you’re here," as if they’d long since grown used to her presence, without stopping or lingering.

For a moment, Ye Li felt as though this wasn’t her first visit—almost like she was here every day, and they were all familiarly acquainted.

Knock knock.

The office door was knocked upon as Xiang Yang opened it, "Boss, Madam has arrived!"

Ye Li exhaled in relief and quickened her pace.

But her steps faltered upon seeing the group of people inside Fu Yanci’s office.

"Ah Li..."

Standing prominently in the center of the couch, in a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, Fu Yanci got up, walked to her side, and took her hand, leading her inside. As Xiang Yang prepared to leave and close the door, he instructed, "A latte, and also prepare the desserts Madam likes."

"Got it."

Xiang Yang complied and left.

Turning around, Fu Yanci addressed the group, who had risen from their seats, "This is Madam, Ye Li."

"Good day, Madam!"

The group chimed in unison.

Ye Li nodded, "Hello, everyone."

With an arm around Ye Li, Fu Yanci personally introduced her to everyone.

"Ye Li, this is Vice President Chen—"

"Good day, Madam, and thank you for the afternoon tea!"

"Hello, Vice President Chen!"

"Ah Li, this is Julia, our Financial Director—"

"Good day, Madam. It’s an honor to meet you!"

"Nice to meet you, Julia!"

Only a few minutes in, and Ye Li’s palms were already sweating.

Completely oblivious, Fu Yanci glanced around the room and gestured toward the staircase, "Why don’t you go upstairs and watch some TV? Once I’m done, we’ll have dinner together."

"Alright."

Ye Li nodded, giving everyone another polite nod before heading up the staircase.

As she ascended, voices broke out again below, seemingly discussing an overseas project.

Upstairs, slumped into the sofa in the lounge, Ye Li let out a long sigh and leaned back.

When Fu Yanci eventually came upstairs, he found her lazily nestled into the corner of the sofa, hugging a pillow like she’d been thoroughly drained.

Placing the coffee and dessert on the table, Fu Yanci tousled her hair with a smile, "Tired?"

Ye Li snapped her eyes open.

Since she’d already planned to head back to her dorm tonight, she scanned him provocatively from head to toe, "You’re the one who’s tired. I’m perfectly fine."

Fu Yanci chuckled but refrained from rebutting.

Ye Li kicked at him lightly, "Fu Yanci, just what kind of scheme are you up to now?"

She squinted in suspicion, meeting his gaze directly, "It’s been over six months since we got our marriage certificate. Why pull something like this today? Did you..."

A fleeting memory popped into her mind—earlier that morning, she’d scrolled past celebrity gossip on her phone while in the car, specifically a tabloid rumor about Uncle Fu’s supposed fling.

The photos featured the same Lin Kerou on different mornings.

While she hadn’t paid them any attention then, now, with this bizarre spectacle, the more she thought about it, the stranger Fu Yanci’s behavior seemed.

Ye Li narrowed her eyes at him accusingly, "You didn’t do something shady and use me as a shield, did you?"

"Mrs. Fu..."

The man who had been massaging her calves suddenly leaned in, "Your husband has thick skin and doesn’t need you as a shield!"

"Then why—"

"Aren’t you always pestering me, left and right, to confirm your role, terrified I might mistake you for someone else? Well, I brought you to Fu Group to set the record straight. And if one day I do something foolish, you’re welcome to come here, expose me publicly, and make me lose all face!"

He spoke with an air of utmost sincerity and logic.

Ye Li was stunned.

"Fu Yanci!"

Ye Li straightened, jabbing her finger into his chest repeatedly, "Do you think I’m stupid?"

Even if he did something stupid, that was their private matter. Close the door, scream until the roof collapses—it was fine.

Would she be dumb enough to storm into the company, making a scene and exposing herself to ridicule?

"Okay, okay, you’re not stupid. I was. Happy now?"

Laughing, Fu Yanci clasped her hand gently, pulling her into an embrace, "Alright. It’s me—I wanted the entire company to meet their boss lady. Satisfied now?"

That was more like it.

With her feathers smoothed, Ye Li calmed down instantly.

She glanced at the time—it was only five o’clock.

Her gaze moved to the cake on the table, "Are you done with work? When can we leave?"

"Not yet. They’re still waiting downstairs. I came up to—"

Before Fu Yanci could finish speaking, Ye Li covered his mouth with her hand.

Then she recalled how long he’d been upstairs.

Then how she’d shrieked and yelled "Fu Yanci" just now.

And finally, the thought of the high-level executives downstairs, sitting silently like a flock of chickens waiting for orders.

Ye Li stared wide-eyed at him, then down at her hand over his mouth.

Maybe... she should just strangle him now!

Ahhhhh!!!
