Chapter 356: Tear Off Her Disguise

Chapter 356: Chapter 356: Tear Off Her Disguise

The original plan was to have Aunt Lan and Mom stay at Lishan Mansion for a week. By the time Fu Yanci returned, there would be someone to help take care of Xiao Bao, and Aunt Lan and Mom wouldn’t have to worry too much.

But when the phone dinged, Ye Li realized the advantages of the parenting group.

[Aunt Lan Qi patted Ye Li: Dear, my Lan Qi came back and said that today Muzhi didn’t go to kindergarten. What’s the matter? Is he feeling unwell?]

[Rui Ze’s Mom: @Ye Li, Mrs. Fu, is Muzhi okay? My Rui Ze is best friends with Muzhi, and he was talking about him nonstop after coming home today.]

[Little Pang’s Mom: @Ye Li, Little Pang gets along well with Muzhi too! You’re always welcome to visit our home when you have time!]

[...]

There were more than a dozen moms in the group. At one glance, all of them had tagged her, enthusiastically expressing their concern for Xiao Bao.

Even though she knew in her heart they were doing this for Fu Yanci, Ye Li felt her mind open up in an instant.

[Thank you all for your concern! Muzhi wasn’t feeling well this morning, so he took the day off, but he’ll be back in kindergarten tomorrow. Thanks again!]

[@Little Pang’s Mom, dear, if it’s convenient, could you let Muzhi go to your house to play for a while after school tomorrow? I’ll pick him up from your place, okay?]

!!!

In the master bedroom of a well-known villa in the eastern district of the city, a voluptuous and beautiful woman let out a shriek, sat up, and pushed her husband beside her. "Mrs. Fu, Mrs. Fu..."

Little Pang’s Mom pointed excitedly at her phone. "Mrs. Fu says she’s coming to our house tomorrow!"

!!!

Little Pang’s Dad, who couldn’t even get an appointment with Uncle Fu, was instantly shell-shocked. Recovering, he grabbed his wife’s plump face and smothered it in kisses. "Wife, you’re amazing!"

Following Little Pang’s Mom, the parenting group became filled with a flood of invitations.

Exactly as planned, Ye Li went along with the flow.

Not only were the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week taken care of, but even the five weekdays of the following week were meticulously arranged for Xiao Bao’s after-school activities.

Seeing it was getting late, Ye Li typed away furiously.

[@everyone, thank you all for your enthusiasm. Next Saturday, Fu Yanci and I will host a banquet at the Fu Mansion. Please bring your little ones over for a visit! HeartEmoji.jpg]

[Aunt Lan Qi: Absolutely! HappyEmoji.jpg]

[Rui Ze’s Mom: Of course, of course, see you there! SmileEmoji.jpg]

[Little Pang’s Mom: All right! MuahMuah.jpg]

At a glance, the screen was filled with flowers and wine glass emojis, the atmosphere lively and delightful.

Looking back, she saw Xiao Bao sprawled out like a starfish, sleeping soundly.

Worried he might wake up startled in the middle of the night and curl up in the corner again overthinking, like the past two days, Ye Li didn’t even return to her own room but slept on the sofa wrapped in a blanket.

At dawn, Ye Li was awakened by an inexplicable itch on her face, forehead, and chin.

Irritated, she opened her eyes, only to see Xiao Bao tugging at a strand of her hair, using it to tickle her.

Ye Li instantly became alert.

The little guy had already washed up and even dressed himself in his kindergarten uniform.

His eyes were bright.

His smile radiant.

It was as if, overnight, he had reverted to the cheerful little boy he used to be.

Ye Li’s morning grumpiness evaporated instantly.

"I’ll be quick, wait for me!"

Flicking his forehead lightly, Ye Li got up and went upstairs to freshen up.

When she came back downstairs, the two of them headed straight out and got into the car.

The car made its way toward the kindergarten, with Ye Li poking his cheek and reminding him, "Little Pang invited you to his house to play, so after school, go with him. I’ll pick you up from Little Pang’s house. Got it?"

Hopeful, hopeful?

Ye Xiaoli, is this really okay?

Already excited, the little fellow’s face lit up instantly.

Seeing Ye Li nod, he even started counting off on his fingers to figure out whose houses he could visit the following days. The little guy suddenly seemed like a mouse that had fallen into a silo of grain.

He used to worry someone at the kindergarten would laugh at him, asking, "Fu Muzhi, why don’t you talk? Are you a little mute?"

But ever since the semester started, that had never happened, not even once.

At home, only Uncle and Ye Xiaoli could understand what he was "saying." Even the great-grandmother often had to look at him, then at the butler, guessing three to five times to get it right.

But at kindergarten, the other kids always seemed to guess what he meant.

Instead, when he finished a math problem a few seconds faster than the rest, they looked at him with bright, sparkling eyes, clapping and cheering, "Fu Muzhi, you’re amazing!"

He used to think happiness only existed inside the kindergarten. Who knew that with Uncle being out of town, his fun could extend to visiting friends’ homes?

Even as he stepped out of the car, Xiao Bao still felt like he was dreaming.

He waved at Ye Li.

Then turned back to see Teacher Tingting smiling at him from a distance.

Just as he was about to lift his arms and call out, "Ye Xiaoli, are you sure?"

A solid embrace came charging at him from afar. "Fu Muzhi, my mom said you’re coming to my house after school. Is it true?"

Staring at the chubby kid with a face filled with the same hesitation, his gaze shifted to Ye Li’s radiant smile.

Xiao Bao nodded.

The chubby kid was even happier than he was. "That’s awesome! I’ll show you my Ultraman army! Oh, and my family’s chef makes amazing honey-glazed chicken wings. I can eat eight in one go. Wait till you try them this afternoon; they’re absolutely delicious... Oh, and tomorrow I’ll be going to Lan Qi’s house too..."

The sight of the two young kids, their small arms draped over each other’s shoulders as they walked off, was inexplicably adorable and amusing.

Ye Li’s smile deepened.

However, human emotions are not universally shared.

Lin Kerou’s day couldn’t have been worse.

She had stood outside the kindergarten gates for several days like a statue, but hadn’t caught even a glimpse of Xiao Bao.

Luxury cars zipped out of the kindergarten, one after another, but none belonged to the Fu Family.

She went to ask the security guard, but he ignored her.

Gracefully stopping Teacher Tingting, she was met with a perfectly polite smile, displaying eight teeth: "Hello, ma’am, our kindergarten has policies that prohibit disclosing children’s whereabouts. You say you’re Muzhi’s mom? I’m sorry, but your name isn’t listed on the parent handbook. Perhaps you could have Uncle Fu give the principal a call?"

Her fake smile was on the verge of collapsing. Lin Kerou was seething with rage, desperate to claw Ye Li’s beautiful mask to shreds, exposing the ugliness within.

When her phone rang, Lin Kerou turned and got into her car to answer. "Talk!"

Whatever the person on the other end said, Lin Kerou’s ferocious expression gradually softened. "Alright, I understand! ...So, have you found anything interesting while following her?"

Lishan Mansion.

Imperial University.

Her studio.

The Ye Mansion.

The same rigid routine every day. Compared to other ladies and socialites of the Imperial Capital’s rich families, Ye Li did have an inspiring life.

But Lin Kerou felt she had found Ye Li’s Achilles’ heel. Long after hanging up the call, her earlier anger dissipated, and excitement beamed from her eyes and brows.

Ye Li, I have a big gift prepared just for you!

I hope when the time comes, you’ll still be as smug as you are now!

Vroom!

The BMW roared away.
