Chapter 23: Chapter 23 He Regretted It!

Vicent was the largest and most luxurious bar on the strip.

When Ye Li walked in, the commotion had already subsided.

All the way there, people in the booths on both sides were discussing the fight that had just happened.

"Mr. Zhou is really something, isn’t he? Not only is he handsome, but he can fight too, and he’s got great stamina! Didn’t he break up with Ye Li? He’s changed his bed partner several times already, so why can’t he bear to hear about their called-off engagement?"

"Can’t they reconcile after a breakup? With Ye Li’s face, would you be able to let go if you were in his shoes?"

"That’s true!"

Ye Li paused in her steps.

Whether it was when the Ye Family went bankrupt and she was ridiculed and mocked by her so-called friends while trying to borrow money,

or when they were still together, and some strange women made snide and squeezing comments.

All the little clues were incomprehensible to the involved party at the time.

It was only in hindsight that she realized she had been blinded by her own presumptions.

She thought that standing by each other’s side was happiness.

But to Zhou Hecchen, it seemed physical pleasure was more important.

Luckily, everything was over now.

Since it was over, it was time to make things clear and wish each other well in the future.

Ye Li went straight up and knocked on the door at the end of the hallway.

"Scram!"

A roar sounded, followed by the noise of a cup smashing against the door, then shattering on the floor.

Someone opened the door and exclaimed, "Ye Li!"

The room suddenly fell silent.

In the corner on the sofa, Zhou Hecchen sat up straight and looked at Ye Li, eyes bloodshot.

"Xiao Li..."

The moment Zhou Hecchen stood up in a daze, the dozen or so people in the room fled, leaving the place empty.

The door closed, and the noise outside was no longer audible.

Only the brilliant, dizzying lights quietly fell on the two of them.

Staggering over to Ye Li, Zhou Hecchen bowed his head to look at her pure and obedient face, his voice hoarse, "Xiao Li, I was wrong. Please forgive me. Come back to me, okay?"

He regretted it!

When Ye Li was by his side, she was like his cell phone.

Always within reach.

Whenever he looked back, she was always there, never leaving him.

She wouldn’t let him kiss or touch her, and although it made him angry, he always found ways to vent, so he let her be.

Until she called off the engagement and blocked and deleted his number decisively.

That was when Zhou Hecchen realized that even the obedient Ye Li had a temper.

The first few days, he didn’t care much.

They grew up together from childhood, childhood sweethearts, all the way to engagement.

He knew Ye Li’s personality.

With the Ye Family bankrupt, Uncle Ye gone, Aunt Ye sick and hospitalized, Ye Li had no one to rely on, who else could she turn to?

Throwing a bit of a tantrum, a little coaxing afterward would have brought her back.

But unexpectedly, she went to the Fu Mansion, attended that matchmaking banquet,

And then, she uttered the phrase "little aunt."

These days, Zhou Hecchen indulged like never before, and every night in the big bed, the women underneath were different.

Seductive and charming.

Innocent and harmless.

The thrill of secretive touches disappeared; in the pitch-black room, he could only imagine Ye Li’s face beneath him to fully release himself.

But after the brief pleasure, what bubbled up from his heart was inexhaustible emptiness and loneliness.

In the bar, someone casually said, "Who knows who will benefit now that Ye Li and Mr. Zhou are split," and Zhou Hecchen exploded.

Xiao Li wouldn’t be so heartless as to break up with him.

She wouldn’t!

His mind was filled with images of the girl obediently following behind him, her address for him transforming from the sweet and sticky "Brother Hechen" to "Brother Chen" as she grew up.

Occasionally, she would imitate those girls in their circle and call him "Mr. Zhou" coyly.

The thought that everything had ended made Zhou Hecchen’s heart sting wave after wave.

Curling his aching palm, Zhou Hecchen reached out with a pained expression to pull Ye Li, "Xiao Li, will you come back, please?"

When Ye Li stepped back to dodge him, Zhou Hecchen raised his eyes again, madness filling his gaze.
