Chapter 120: Chapter 120 Who Annoyed You?
Ye Li walked through the school gate and looked back—the Maybach was still quietly parked by the roadside.
Through the distance, she couldn’t make out the man’s face.
Only a vague silhouette was visible.
But Ye Li knew, Fu Yanci was watching her.
With a radiant smile, Ye Li waved her hand and turned to walk forward.
The dim street scene suddenly seemed to fade as Fu Yanci watched the spot where Ye Li had disappeared, staying put for quite some time.
The past two nights had been so full, but now, there was a void of equal measure.
And this void would last for six whole nights.
Until Ye Li returned next Friday.
After a while, when he was certain that the girl wouldn’t run back like the last time, Fu Yanci started the car and drove straight to the Fu Mansion.
He had dinner with Old Mrs. Fu and watched TV for a while.
Fu Yanci then turned and went to the study.
Xiao Bao was drawing.
It looked like a maze, or perhaps aimless scribbling, but at a glance, the paper was densely covered with curves.
Fu Yanci looked back at Xiao Bao. "Unhappy?"
The little guy cast a resentful glance at Fu Yanci without saying a word.
Obviously confirming what he had said.
"What’s wrong? Who annoyed you?"
Fu Yanci looked around and surveyed the room.
Everything was as it always had been.
Complicated large Lego sets were assembled methodically, with small parts neatly arranged.
School books were in perfect order, homework well done.
There was nothing out of place.
The servants who took care of Xiao Bao at the old house had been there for over a decade, dedicated and attentive with him.
If there was anything amiss, it could only be him.
Before he got married, he’d come back every few days to dine with his grandmother and see him.
After getting married, he only had free time on weekends and hadn’t come on weekdays.
"Are you mad at me?"
Fu Yanci tousled Xiao Bao’s hair and looked apologetic. "Then from now on, I’ll come back twice a week, to draw with you, to play with you, how about that?"
Not interested.
Xiao Bao tilted his head and dodged his hand.
Fu Yanci paused.
Then, facing the child’s awkward expression, it clicked in a flash of insight.
Fu Yanci squinted and leaned down to examine Xiao Bao. "So, are you mad at Sister Lizi?"
His hand stopped, and the smooth line took a turn on the paper.
Xiao Bao silently pursed his lips.
Fu Yanci knew he had guessed correctly.
He couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. "You’ve only seen her a few times, and you like her this much?"
He had thought the little guy was too proud to admit, even if he really liked Ah Li in his heart.
Unexpectedly, Xiao Bao nodded seriously.
Fu Yanci laughed and tapped his forehead. "Then, do you want to come back with me to Lishan Mansion?"
Xiao Bao shook his head.
Fu Yanci sighed. "Shall I come pick you up next weekend?"
The little guy smiled and nodded.
As Fu Yanci was about to leave, Xiao Bao tugged at his sleeve.
"What’s up?"
Fu Yanci asked.
Xiao Bao’s eyes fell on his phone.
Pausing, Fu Yanci asked, "Do you want to call Sister Lizi?"
Is it okay?
The little one looked inquiringly, stirring something in Fu Yanci’s heart.
The psychologist had said Xiao Bao had a room in his heart, where he locked himself inside, only allowing a few selected people to knock on his door.
Like him.
Or his grandmother, or those few people who took care of him.
But now, he was willing to open the door himself.
And the person who made him want to open that door was Ah Li.
His heart pounding, Fu Yanci took out his phone and dialed Ye Li’s number.
"Hello, Fu Yan..."
"Ah Li, Xiao Bao wants to talk to you..."
He hesitated, worried that Xiao Bao, just beginning to reach out, might withdraw again sensitively, so Fu Yanci changed his words, "Xiao Bao misses you!"
"Brother Mu?"
On the other end of the phone, the girl’s voice leaped with excitement. "Do you miss me?"
With a flustered gaze, Xiao Bao seemed unsure what to do.
Ye Li’s voice rang out again.
