Chapter 1912: Cause For Alarm

Reynolds was gone, while Alice focused on breaking through to the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane. The fight benefitted her significantly, hence the reason she decided to fight with the Gnomes alone even though she knew that if her friends helped out, she would be able to end them sooner. However, she needed the pressure from fighting so many opponents to improve further, so she did not want the others to get involved in the fight.

Grey and Klaus were left with nothing to do, well, Grey had the orb to study and also had the plans of trying to see if he could gather any vital information from the Seventh Prince of the Gnome Race. Given the identity of the Seventh Prince, he was the perfect spy he could have. Unfortunately, he could not go through the memories of the Prince and would only be able to gather information while he was in control of the Prince. This was the only flaw he felt this control technique had. At the thought of the technique, he wondered how the Necromancer who invented the technique was faring.

He was fortunate to cross paths with this Necromancer and even forcibly take the technique from him, placing him under his control at the time. It has been a few years since then and he was certain the Necromancer would have improved the technique. He contemplated if he should visit the Necromancer again to see if he could help him improve it, but when he tried to use the connection from the mind control to reach out to the Necromancer, he noticed he could not.

‘Did he break off the link or is he dead?’ Grey was a little confused, the only way he could not connect with the Necromancer is either if he found a way to break off the connection or was dead. At the time, he knew the Necromancer did not have any way to evade the control, else he would have done it as soon as Grey left him. After leaving, Grey tried it a few times and noticed that he had control over him.

Throwing the thought to the back of his head, he focused on studying the orb while occasionally taking control of the Seventh Prince of the Gnome World.

The days went by in this fashion and before he knew it, it had been a week since they returned from their initial mission. During this week, Klaus and Void disappeared entirely from Red City, exploring the region around Red City.

Currently, the Mayor of Red City is a Sage Plane Elementalist, far stronger than the Mayor who used to be an Arcane Plane Elementalist at the time Grey left Red City all those years ago.

He has not been able to get anything good from either the crystal orb or during the short periods he was in control of the Seventh Prince. Apparently, he could not stay in control over thirty minutes before exhausting most of his mental energy. Exhausting one’s mental energy can be strenuous sometimes, making him feel sluggish. Since he realized this, he always ensured he did not try to control the Seventh Prince any more than twenty-five minutes.

On this particular day while controlling the Seventh Prince, he heard shocking information: the Gnomes discovered a link that could send in one Half God Plane expert without them losing their strength, and after a week or so, another Half God Plane could be sent through. This portal is stronger than most, although not as powerful as the one sealed deep in the Azure Continent’s Magical Beast Forest, it should be enough to send enough force to finally break the seal on the portal in the Magical Beast Forest.

Grey’s mind control technique is not something he wanted to expose outside his close group, but this was an information they could not delay. Rushing to meet his father, he told him of his discovery.

“Are you sure?” Lucas’s expression was serious when he heard this. If the Gnomes have a portal they can send Half God Plane experts through without the Gnomes losing their strengths nor the portal collapsing, then they have a serious problem on their hands. The only reason they have been able to hold out this long is purely due to the fact that the Gnomes could not send in a Half God Plane expert in their full strength.

Over the past year or so, any Half God Plane expert from the Gnome Race that has come into their World has had to pay a certain sacrifice to ensure they safely passed through the portal, and in most cases, these sacrifices would significantly reduce their strength and they would need around six to twelve months before they can recover their original strength.

“Yes.” Grey did not have any reasons to hide anything from his father, telling him everything.

Lucas wore a thoughtful expression for a short time before saying, “We can’t expose this ability to the others, so we will need to make sure the information is discovered some other way.”

“We can capture a Gnome in the Sovereign Plane and I will control him to say the words.” Grey suggested. His parents did not have any issues with him being able to control a Gnome, but the other experts will not be this relaxed. After all, being able to control someone without their knowledge was a technique that would frighten them all. They would most likely see Grey as a threat that needed to be eliminated. This was something Grey was aware of, and so was his father.

“That’s a good plan. It’s only, since the last hideout you wiped out, we have not seen any signs of Gnomes again.” Lucas frowned. Grey’s plan was good, but that was if they could find a Gnome. During the past week, it was as if the Gnomes decided not to come out again, all hiding. They have not even tried to destroy any Tribes located deep in the forests, something they usually do.
