"I clocked in on time this morning, not late, and I took leave in advance to leave early in the afternoon. Plus, I finished all my work for the day. That’s called being efficient, not skimping on hours. What right do you have to despise me and yet demand that I work overtime?"

She stood her ground, defiantly.

Qin Nanyu paused in his steps and looked down at her.

"Compared to staying here for this boring party, I thought you’d be more willing to work and achieve the only value your life might have."

"Not at all, I could choose to go home and spend time with my adorable daughter. You just heard, my daughter is only four years old, she really needs my care, so I refuse to work overtime... Qin Nanyu, let go!"

Ji Weitian was shoved into the car and her attempts to resist resulted in being strapped in by the seatbelt with the doors locked.

Angrily turning her head to glare at him, she said, "This is called restricting personal freedom, I can call the police to arrest you right now!"

Qin Nanyu tossed his phone to her.

"You can try it and see who arrives faster, the police or the dean’s letter of dismissal. As far as I know, your position at Jiangcheng University is just a contractual one, so dismissing you shouldn’t require any complicated procedures."

He held the steering wheel with one hand, set the gear, and gave a cool glance at the person beside him who was stunned silly, "Miss Ji, have you decided?"

Ji Weitian hugged his phone, speechless.

She loved her job, and her job loved her.

"Come and help," Qin Nanyu muttered, passing by Ji Weitian with a stack of documents in his arms.

Ji Weitian raised her head, "What kind of tone is that? Did I say I wanted to go in and help..."

Okay, she really did want to take a look inside.

Ji Weitian silently followed him into the lab.

The vast space was brighter than the first time she entered, likely because the experiments were in progress. All the computer screens were on, and the large screen in the center displayed the early-stage model of their experiment, resembling the structure of a human brain.

This 3D image was not unfamiliar to Ji Weitian at all.

Just last night, while she was rushing a report for Leng Jian, it had appeared on her computer screen.

Considering the painful lessons learnt from being kicked out the previous two times, this time Ji Weitian didn’t hurry to come forward but crossed her arms and stood at the back of the lab as an onlooker.
