Chapter 413: Chapter 413 Parent-Child Games (2)

The kids weren’t yearning for the gifts themselves, but rather for the fact that it was Children’s Day. Anything received on this day held special meaning for them.

Cai Jinghui picked up the toy gun and aimed at a balloon, but he missed.

He aimed at another balloon and missed again.

He felt a bit frustrated.

Just as he was about to go play ring toss next door, Li Jiajia grabbed hold of him.

Without saying a word, she crouched down and started aiming at the balloons in front of her.

"Bang!" She shot one.

"Bang!" She shot another.

Cai Jinghui, who had originally planned to leave, stood there dumbfounded.

In less than 10 minutes, Li Jiajia had managed to hit 30 balloons.

The admiration in Cai Jinghui’s eyes was unmistakable.

He never expected that the normally quiet Li Jiajia could be so skilled.

The prize was a pencil case, and Cai Jinghui was ecstatic to receive it.

Next came a challenge game: several rotating contraptions were built on the sand. Both kids and parents had to navigate through five obstacles to complete the game.

The game was similar to a water-based challenge from a TV show but much simpler.

Cai Jinghui saw a classmate and his parent who had just failed the challenge, now hanging their heads in defeat.

The classmate said to Cai Jinghui, "Hey, don’t even try. My dad and I couldn’t manage it, let alone you and your mom."

Cai Jinghui glanced at Li Jiajia, wanting to explain that she wasn’t his mom, but seeing that Li Jiajia remained silent, he decided to stay quiet as well.

It seemed like a misunderstanding wouldn’t hurt anyone, so there was no need to fuss over it.

The boy, seeing that Cai Jinghui didn’t respond, added mockingly, "Hey, I’m telling you, don’t go for it. If you do, you’ll just end up face-first in the sand."

Cai Jinghui, who often competed with this boy, couldn’t stand being taunted like that. "Just because you couldn’t do it doesn’t mean I can’t," he retorted.

The boy snorted, "Fine, let’s see how you eat a mouthful of sand."

Then he stubbornly refused to leave, standing by to watch Cai Jinghui embarrass himself.

At that moment, Cai Jinghui secretly wished the boy would walk away, because he was looking at the contraptions and had a gut feeling that he wouldn’t be able to handle them.

But he was too embarrassed to back out.

Just as he found himself in a dilemma, Li Jiajia suddenly hoisted him onto the contraptions.

The first obstacle was a treadmill-like contraption requiring him to sprint quickly to the other end.

Cai Jinghui felt a strong and steady hand pulling him up, and he started running at full speed.

At the end of the treadmill, they needed to jump onto three cushions without landing in the sand. Just as Cai Jinghui was worrying about whether he could make the jump, Li Jiajia commanded from behind, "Jump!"

He gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and leaped forward.

He felt Li Jiajia lend him some support too, and he landed firmly on the cushion.

For the subsequent obstacles, he led the way while she followed behind. Whenever he was about to fall, Li Jiajia would quickly steady him.

He felt like the person behind him was a superhero protecting him.

Before he knew it, he found himself trusting her completely.

Soon, they successfully passed the challenge.

Cai Jinghui was so elated that he hugged Li Jiajia tightly.

But as he held her, he suddenly froze.

Wasn’t she the person he disliked the most? Yet now he was hugging her.

He felt as though he had betrayed his two sisters.

With that thought, he quickly let go of her.
