In the blink of an eye, Su Meixi’s baby was already six months old.

And it was time for her to return to work.

However, after spending six months at home taking care of her baby, she found that she simply couldn’t bear to leave. She only wanted to stay by his side every day.

The baby was so adorable. In his eyes, it seemed like there was only his mom. Whatever she did, he would laugh heartily. His gaze was as if he were her little soulmate from a past life.

Su Meixi watched him grow from a fragile little infant to slowly crawling across the floor, then gradually learning to lift his head, and recently, even sitting up on his own. Whenever he looked at her, she felt like life was unbelievably miraculous and beautiful.

"I really don’t want to go to work," Su Meixi said to Gu Wei.

Gu Wei didn’t know what to say, so he just followed her lead and replied, "Then why not just stay home and be with the baby?"

"No way—women must have their own careers, or they’ll be eliminated by society." Even though Su Meixi knew that Gu Wei loved her deeply, she still couldn’t shake her sense of insecurity.

One day, Li Shirui came over to visit the baby.

She overheard Su Meixi making a phone call with Zhou Yuan.

Over the phone, Zhou Yuan said to Su Meixi, "If it really doesn’t work out, I could send my two nannies over to help you out. My son was raised by them. With two nannies keeping an eye on things, what’s one baby to them?"

At first, Su Meixi thought this was a good idea, but then she suddenly shook her head and said, "No, I only make about ten thousand a month. If I hire two nannies, their salaries would be higher than mine. Add that to the nanny I already have—three nannies just to keep my job? Isn’t that a bit excessive? People would laugh at me."

"You don’t have to worry about the nanny’s salaries. They’re employed by the Gu Group, so of course, the company would cover their pay."

"That still doesn’t sit right. It would mean more people at home, and I don’t really like having so much commotion around."

Seeing how conflicted Su Meixi was, Zhou Yuan couldn’t help but laugh and say, "Alright, then you and Gu Wei should discuss this further and come to a decision."

After hanging up, Li Shirui asked Su Meixi, "Are you planning to go back to work but feeling worried about the baby?"

Su Meixi nodded and then said in frustration, "I keep thinking that if I’m not by my baby’s side, I’ll never feel at ease. But if I stay home with him all the time, I won’t be able to focus on my career."

Li Shirui chuckled and said, "That’s easy to solve, isn’t it? I could come by during the day to take care of the baby for you, and then head home once you’re back from work."

Su Meixi was stunned for a moment.

Li Shirui smiled warmly at her and said, "What’s wrong? You don’t trust me?"

Su Meixi quickly replied, "No, no, I’m just surprised. Would it be too troublesome for you?"

"How could it be?" Li Shirui held the baby in her arms, her voice gentle as she said, "I’ve already missed out on watching you grow up. Let me make up for it with my little granddaughter now. I promise I’ll take excellent care of her."

Su Meixi felt her eyes grow slightly wet.
