Accidental Marriage With Mr Billioniare
Chapter 169: THE BREAKFAST

Chapter 169: THE BREAKFAST

Astrid woke up to the sound of knocking on her door, her heart racing with surprise.

"Who could it be?" She thought she was certain that no one had a key to her house, and yet, the knocking persisted.

She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and checked the time on her phone. It was morning, and she had overslept.

As she sat up in bed, wondering who could be visiting at such an early hour, she heard the familiar voice calling out to her.

"I am coming in now, you can’t just sleep for the whole day!" Maren exclaimed, her voice filled with laughter.

Astrid’s eyes widened in surprise as Maren burst into her room, a bright smile on her face.

Maren jumped onto Astrid’s bed, bouncing up and down with excitement, and Astrid could only stare at her in confusion.

"How did you get in?" Astrid asked, still trying to shake off the sleep.

Maren grinned mischievously. "Julian gave me the keys. I told him I was worried about you being alone in this big house, and he agreed that it was a good idea for me to check on you."

Astrid raised an eyebrow, feeling a twinge of concern. "You are worried about me? Why?"

Maren’s expression turned serious. "Because, Astrid, you are always alone in this house. It’s starting to scare me. I think it would be better if we lived together. We could keep each other company, and it would be safer for both of us."

Astrid shook her head, "I am fine, Maren. I don’t need you to worry about me. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself."

Maren rolled her eyes, she could tell she was feeling too good, but only pretending to be fine.

"How the heck did Julian even get the keys to my house in the first place and can just share it around?" She grumbled, though she wasn’t mad about him giving Maren the key she couldn’t help but wonder how he got hold of her key.

Just then, Astrid’s phone rang, interrupting their conversation. She picked it up, answering the call from Mr. Jerkins.

"Young Miss, the chairman needs to see you in his office. There’s a meeting scheduled for today by 11am, and your presence is required," Mr. Jerkins informed her.

"I will be there. Thank you for letting me know."

As she dropped the call, Maren looked at her with concern. "Is everything okay? You look like you have just received some bad news."Astrid shook her head, smiling wryly. "It’s just work. I have a meeting with the chairman today."

Maren nodded sympathetically, "It’s a good idea, and also an opportunity to get closer to your granddad. You can also get the opportunity to begin building your own company." Astrid nodded, sighing recalling Mattie’s threat.

"I hope things go well because I wouldn’t want to try proving I have the idea and be in another war with Mattie," Maren rolled her eyes at this as she caressed her hands.

"You will be fine. You are always so capable. I am sure you will impress your granddad."

Astrid smiled, feeling a surge of gratitude towards her friend. "Thanks, Maren. That means a lot coming from you."

Maren grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I have some good news to share with you, too. Guess what?" Astride stared at her confused.

"Miles is now my boyfriend!" she announced and Astrid’s eyes widened in shock.

"What? How? When?" Maren shook her head at this, "See I told you, I can tell you are not feeling well, you should have seen it on the news if you were conversant." Astrid smiled wryly at this.

"So tell me how it went.." Astrid urges her.

Maren launched into a detailed account of her evening with Miles, telling her about the romantic dinner, the beautiful message on the wall, and the way Miles had announced their relationship to the world.

As Astrid listened, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement for her friend.

Maren had always deserved happiness, and it seemed like she had finally found it with Miles.

Astrid’s face lit up with a warm smile as she congratulated Maren on her new relationship. "I am so happy for you, Maren! Your patience finally paid off! You got him to be yourself at last!"

Maren’s eyes sparkled with amusement as she replied, "And I think you should also be patient, Astrid. Julian still cares about you deeply."

Astrid’s expression turned somber, and she shook her head. "I don’t want to be in Julian’s affair anymore, Maren. It’s causing Mattie to act out, and I am tired of holding on to a relationship that’s going nowhere. He let me go freely, and I think it’s for the best."

Maren’s eyes narrowed slightly, she understood her friend’s words but there was no way she was going to let her friend give up.

"That’s not what I saw in the dining room, Astrid. Julian made sure that the maid prepared your breakfast, and he even made sure no one else in the house would disturb you until now. That doesn’t sound like someone who’s let you go freely to me."

Astrid’s eyes widened in surprise, and she felt a flutter in her chest. "What? He made breakfast?" She was about to rush downstairs when Maren grabbed her arm, holding her back.

"Wait, Astrid. Go take your bath and get ready for breakfast. You can deal with Julian later," Maren advised, her voice calm and rational.

Astrid hesitated for a moment but then nodded. She went to take her bath, her mind racing with thoughts.

*********

Astrid walked into the dining room, and her eyes widened in surprise at the spread of food before her.

The table was filled with all her favorite dishes, and the aroma of freshly cooked food wafted through the air.

"Wow, Julian, you went all out," Astrid said, her voice filled with surprise.

She moved closer to the dining room as Maren nudged her, "You sure he is letting you go freely?" Astrid couldn’t help but flash back to what had occurred the previous night, the message he had left, and how he recalled the meal he promised to cook for her.

"You are late!" Astrid heard and turned back to see Miles and Julain strutting toward the dining room making her eyes narrowed slightly.

"What are you two doing here?" she asked.

Julain smiles, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "We decided to join you for breakfast," he answered

Astrid raised an eyebrow. "You decided to join me? In my own house? What happened to yours" she asked.

Miles chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Sorry, Astrid. We didn’t mean to intrude," he said.

Julian stood opposite, his eyes locked on Astrid’s. " I don’t think I will be able to have breakfast anywhere but here, I will be here every morning from today onward."

"Then I won’t be having mine even though it’s my house," she mumbled about leaving but Maren pulled her back forcing her to sit.

"Hey!"

"Sit and have your food or I will force you to do so," Maren threatened and Astrid hesitated for a moment, then sat down at the table.

Maren and Miles sat down opposite her, and Julian sat down at the head of the table.

As they began to eat, Miles decided to break the silence and asked Astrid, "So, how is life treating you so far?"

Astrid shrugged, her eyes locked on her plate. "It’s going as it should," she said.

Maren laughed, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "That’s very descriptive, Astrid," she said.

Astrid rolled her eyes, a small smile playing on her lips. "Hey, I am just trying to be honest," she said.

"I think we can all appreciate honesty," Julian said and she glared at him.

"Hey... let me help you," Miles helped Maren pour her juice into her cup and handed it to her. "Thanks, babe," she mumbled and Astrid rolled her eyes.

Miles grinned and leaned over to put some food on Maren’s plate. "Try this, it’s my favorite," he said, his eyes sparkling with affection.

Maren blushed and thanked him, her eyes never leaving his. "You are so sweet, babe," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Miles chuckled and leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving Maren’s face. "I am honored," he said, smiling.

As they continued to eat, Maren broke the silence again, "So Miles, where are you going from here?"

"To grandfathers," he answered, staring at Astrid.

"I have a big project coming up, and I need to be there to oversee it," he explained.

Astrid, who had been quietly observing the exchange, suddenly spoke up. "Miles, can you drop me off on your way?" she asked.

Miles was about to agree when Julian shook his head, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Oh... no... I will need to take Maren with me and it might take a long time, are you going to him too?"

Astrid rolled her eyes and didn’t respond until Julian butted in.

"I can drop you off," he said.

Astrid’s eyes constricted, her voice filled with annoyance. "There’s no need, Julian. I can take care of myself," she retorted.

But before Julian could say anything else, Astrid’s phone rang, and she smiled as she picked it up "Good morning Rowan."
