Chapter 575: 250 Natural Enemy_3
In the holographic projection, an old man wearing a light golden nightgown furrowed his brows tightly as he listened to an elderly general beside him reporting on the military situation.
This was the Emperor of the Empire.
Clearly, the Emperor, too, was surprised by the sudden appearance of the Sixth Rank Insect Swarm, his customary smile nowhere to be seen. At that moment, he even asked, "Has the Empire ever encountered the Sixth Rank Insect Swarm in its history?"
"There have been over a dozen direct confrontations," reported the head of the Military Department, Vice Admiral Thomas, the old superior of Levi Sherman, as he stood to one side with his legs together, meticulously presenting his briefing.
"Your Majesty, please rest assured, our military strength is more than enough to repel this Insect Swarm! According to data comparisons, this Swarm tried to stealthily attack Emperor Star a millennium ago but was ultimately repelled by the brave soldiers of the Empire!"
"Repelled?"
The Emperor was clearly displeased, "Can we not just kill the queen directly? Oh, this queen has quite a nice figure."
"Uh, Your Majesty, her lower body is still that of an insect."
"Wow, is this a new aesthetic? Isn’t that even more exciting?" the Emperor asked, squinting his eyes.
A minister standing by laughed and said, "Your Majesty is trying to use such jokes to lessen our tension."
"Indeed I am," the Emperor chuckled and then continued, "I believe our soldiers will firmly resist the second Natural Disaster."
A minister spoke up, "Your Majesty, the current situation is not optimistic. The New Federation has detonated all the bug-laying sites, seemingly intending to draw this high-rank Insect Swarm to us. If we lose too much military power in this battle, we could well find ourselves encircled by the combined forces of the Federation’s political structure."
The Emperor asked, "They dare directly provoke us?"
A group of ministers didn’t know how to respond.
In a corner, an old woman wearing a long robe and a white hat suddenly spoke up:
"Your Majesty, we must admit that within the last three thousand years, the technological level of the Empire has not seen any qualitative improvements, while our population has declined by twenty percent. Although military technology has been maintained to a certain extent, every country across the Milky Way is eagerly catching up.
"Moreover, due to the inefficiency and incompetence of certain departments within the military, a large amount of military technology has been stolen by spies. The comprehensive military strength of the New Federation and numerous emerging nations has already exerted considerable pressure on the Empire.
"They are very likely to declare war on us if we lose enough deterrent power."
The Emperor frowned deeply.
He propped his temple with his finger, as if imitating the mural in front of him depicting ’Levi Sherman in thought’.
"Go pray," the Emperor suddenly said, looking towards the corner, "In a situation like this, we must utilize some of the Empire’s heritage, Archbishop."
"As you command, Your Majesty."
The Archbishop slowly rose to her feet, bowed deeply to the Emperor, and then backed away slowly to leave.
The chief military leader said in a low voice, "Your Majesty, here is a situation report on the front lines’ defensive setup. General Thomas awaits there in strict formation. The Empire’s most elite forces will converge there."
"Good, there’s no need to worry about the Insect Swarm anymore."
Stretching out lazily, the Emperor said,
"Let’s discuss how to teach the New Federation a lesson—I quite like that nation, their movies are pretty good.
"But these guys have gone too far.
"I had originally wanted to be a benevolent ruler, not wanting to launch a large-scale war abroad, my dream being a great peace across the Galaxy..."
Admiral Thomas listened to the Emperor’s ramblings, inwardly letting out a sigh.
He had begun to doubt the Emperor’s mental condition long ago.
But of course, that was something he would never dare say out loud—to anyone.
...
Ding—
The sound reminiscent of a coin spinning in a metal bowl.
Yang Ming "opened his eyes" to find a tranquil starry sky before him, and beneath the stars, he saw a massive and dreadful figure exuding a strong psychic pressure.
He could only see the side of the figure.
What was this?
A high-rank queen of the Insect Swarm?
The Empire simultaneously exterminating dozens of Swarms, causing the Swarms at the edges of the Galaxy to finally start taking action?
It wasn’t long before Yang Ming’s gaze shifted in another direction.
He saw an orb of light, within which was the figure of a young girl resembling Po Suo.
Her curled body was slowly unfolding, the tiara on her head twinkling, a faint song drifting through space, entering Yang Ming’s "ears."
Yang Ming tried to understand the message contained in the song.
Yes, he could understand directly—it was as if this was an exclusive means of communication between him and Po Suo.
The message seemed to be...
The natural enemy has appeared.
