Chapter 365: 173 Between the Glimmers

"Calculate the time until the Insect Swarm catches up to the transport ship."

"Eight minutes."

"Prepare the transport ship for a jump toward us!"

"Boss, the Insect Swarm will most likely follow the jump."

"Don’t overthink it," Yang Ming said firmly, "just calculate the quickest way for us to make contact with the transport ship, have the Feinan perform a Superlimit flight."

"Yes, calculations complete, the transport ship has begun its jump, and our ship has started Superlimit flight."

With a slight tremor, the speed of the Feinan increased once more, even causing Yang Ming’s body to feel some discomfort.

To avoid bringing unnecessary trouble to the Wind, after deciding to enter the New Federation territory to escape the insect disaster, Yang Ming had already ordered the previous escort fleet to retreat from the vicinity of the transport ship.

Now, inside the transport ship, only 026, Hera, and a few Mechanical Guards remained.

This level of defense was hardly enough for a wave of even a few insects.

The transport ship began coating.

This group of high-rank Insect Race appeared to be alerted, their "vanguard" almost simultaneously began preparing for a jump.

Yang Ming gripped the helm tightly, his eyes bloodshot.

A countdown appeared on the top left corner of the projection screen in front of him, calculated by Lyu, the countdown to the intersection of the Feinan and the transport ship.

But whether by calculated values or by Yang Ming’s gut feeling...

The insects were a step faster.

The transport ship initiated a jump, disappearing into ripples, and reappeared directly ahead of the Feinan’s route in the Desolate Star Domain.

The small battleship dispatched by the Insect Race initiated a jump, landing behind the transport ship and madly chasing after it.

Damn it!

Yang Ming couldn’t help but curse.

But now, he could only risk everything to rush toward the transport ship.

The Feinan’s tail was spouting clouds of material, leaving spectacular trails in the starry sky.

...

Inside the transport ship.

The heavily-armed 026, accompanied by several Mechanical Guards, rushed into the lab cabin.

"Miss Hera! We must prepare for evacuation immediately, please follow me to the bridge’s escape pod... huh."

looked a bit dumbfounded at the scene before him.

Hera took off her lab coat and donned a gray bodysuit, while a robot beside her was carrying two makeshift instruments filled with wires out the door.

"They are coming, aren’t they?" Hera asked softly.

"Yes," 026 replied quickly, "we need to prepare to leave the ship now, according to Lyu’s prediction, the insects aim to capture you, Miss Hera. The boss is about six minutes away from us, the bridge is right next to us, and we must hurry over there."

Hera nodded calmly, "Alright, I’m not good at fighting, I’ll follow your command."

"In that case, pardon me!"

moved forward proactively and picked Hera up horizontally before she could react.

Hera instinctively hooked her arms around 026’s neck.

turned and ran, emitting a faint glow from his back, while several robots followed steadily in his footsteps.

The door ahead opened, and more than a dozen robots inside the bridge had already prepared for battle.

The Mechanical Guards lifted their laser guns and single-barrelled Laser Cannons;

The robot butler, which 026 had temporarily reprogrammed, was wearing a tailcoat, clutching a laser pistol, and breathing heavily. This peaceful mechanical being was clearly under immense mental stress;

A few clumsy-looking tracked robots were lifting small instruments, ready to toss them forward at any moment.

Though these would hardly cause any significant damage.

The escape pod’s passage was open, and 026 almost shoved Hera inside, before turning towards the transport ship’s control station.

"Miss Hera, the emergency spacesuit is under the seat, put it on!"

"Alright, bring my instruments in, plug into the escape pod’s power, these can be used against the insects."

shouted quickly, "Directly order the robots to do it."

"Oh! Please let me do such dirty work!"

The robot butler volunteered and rushed forward.

He shoved the laser pistol into his jacket pocket and, with two Mechanical Guards, began transporting the instruments, his silver-gray metallic face full of gloominess, muttering continuously about his love for peace and opposition to war.

026’s mouth twitched slightly, reflecting on the difference between high-end intelligence and low-end stupidity.

The transport ship’s engines were at full power.

was trying to excavate the potential of this ship’s engines, but after all her operations, she only managed to improve the ship’s propulsion efficiency by a fraction of a percent.

Radar showed the Insect Race battleship was closing in fast.

And there was no news of the boss’s Feinan.

026’s eyes suddenly widened.

On the radar, the Insect Race battleship suddenly shrank and blinked before disappearing!

While she was puzzled, the adjacent alarm system blared, and a red insect icon appeared in the corner of the projection screen.

hurriedly activated the optical detection radar, and for a moment, felt a bit of a chill down her spine.

Behind the transport ship, insects with golden patterns on their bodies were "slowly" pouncing at super high speed.

The transport ship sped through the interstellar wilderness;

The golden adult insects, split from the battleship, spread their wings wide with blue halos flashing on their abdomens, relentlessly closing their distance with the transport ship.

Forcing a jump?

kept adjusting the data, but discovered that even if the transport ship risked continuous jumping, it would have to wait for the warp engines to cool down, while the coating machine and polarizer also needed a few minutes to regain function.

Continuous jumping was not the same as continuous unbroken jumping.

felt a bit parched.

"To the escape pod."

Lyu’s voice suddenly emerged, "The boss is already heading to the aft cabin, he will pilot the Fierce Ghost Mecha to receive you."
