Chapter 331: 159 The Beginning of the Legend_2
The three old Generals revealed faint smiles.
The Political Minister suddenly asked, "What exactly happened in those ten minutes when White Ghost broke into the underground Insect Swarm to detonate the queen? The live broadcast cut out at that time."
General Thomas, who had been in control until now, fell silent.
His gaze flickered slightly, a few gleams of light in his eyes,
"Captain Griss fought alongside him and recorded the general process. Would you like to see it? If you don’t mind the horrific elements within.
"This is a powerful soldier.
"Setting aside all political factors, if he’s willing to serve the Empire, I will try to apply to be his Commander."
The elder said, "You can just give us a brief description."
"A simple description would be... he killed the queen protected by layers of the Insect Swarm single-handedly."
...
On the battlefield of Zubin Star, at the edge of a man-made crater.
Captain Griss of the Imperial Special Forces was staring blankly at the ground, littered with dead insects below.
Ships entered the atmosphere one after another, bombing the remaining Insect Swarm frantically, while those without the Mother Worm had only the instinct to flee.
By rights, at this point, half of the Insect Race would be putting up a desperate resistance;
But today’s Insect Swarm seemed to be panicked by something, as they fled in a panicked and unorganized fashion.
Griss leaned on the energy cell supply box and slowly sat down, listening to the continual report voices coming through the squad’s comms.
Back to recruitment again.
Four out of a squad of thirteen were dead.
If one only looked at the losses, Griss would naturally feel an immense pain in his heart.
But he had previously estimated that the majority of his squad would be wiped out, and now that the majority had survived, it was a lot easier to accept.
Such was the fate of a warrior.
Griss sighed softly and removed his protective helmet in respect to the Empire’s soldiers who died in this crater.
Griss gradually regained his ability to think calmly, his brow furrowing in thought.
It was too abnormal.
White Ghost was just too abnormally powerful!
The problem was that White Ghost was hidden inside a Mecha, preventing Griss from determining if it was White Ghost himself who was too strong or if it was the Mecha that had been heavily upgraded with technology and ferocity.
The assault team’s charge could only be described as brutal.
Ordinary soldiers went forward, one after the other, tearing open a path to cover the charge of a few enhanced spearhead teams.
When the soldiers could no longer advance, surrounded, blocked, and devoured by the Insect Swarm, all the pressure fell on these Spearhead Teams.
No one retreated.
Even though they often felt full of grievances, believing that the Empire exploited them, those warriors who underwent soldier transformation;
In moments like this, facing the Insect Race, facing the queen, facing the mission, everyone fought with everything they had.
There were simply too many insects.
Because of the protective shield from the Insect Race’s flagship overhead, the Empire’s most powerful fire support could not reach, leaving them to rely on only partial firepower from the ships behind them.
The Spearhead Team, a thousand meters from the Mother Worm, found themselves really caught in the tide of the Insect Swarm.
They couldn’t push forward at all.
Even with their powerful physical qualities and personal firepower systems, up against the layer upon layer of Insect Swarm, they still felt despair and impotence.
It was at that moment that a burst of red light suddenly erupted.
Griss didn’t see where the red light came from, but he noticed that the movement of the surrounding Insect Swarm suddenly slowed down, the Swarm that had been moving toward them began to turn aimlessly, clashing with the Swarm further behind.
That familiar burst of flame danced once more in Griss’s vision!
The White Ghost and his Fierce Ghost Mecha, which had already disappeared into the Insect Swarm, charged back in front of Griss.
’Who’s carrying the bomb?’
’Me! The activation key is my iris!’
’Captain Griss, try to keep up with me.’
Griss didn’t hesitate, leading his squad in a rapid interject formation, following closely behind the Fierce Ghost Mecha, charging towards the Mother Worm.
This was Griss’s most thrilling, most difficult, and also the most exhilarating battle.
All sorts of insects appeared like a parade, continually serving as obstacles, but under the Fierce Ghost’s Light Blade sweep, none could withstand a single blow!
The team members began to fall behind, and Griss ordered them to pair up in threes and twos to snipe the insects from the rear.
As Griss’s teammates dwindled, only Griss was left beside the Fierce Ghost Mecha.
That was because the Fierce Ghost sporadically looked out for Griss a few times.
’It’s right here.’
The White Ghost’s altered voice rang out again.
Griss could not imagine how the guy managed to stay so calm at such a moment.
The Fierce Ghost Mecha activated its foot hammers, jumping up and striking the ground hard, causing the surface, mixed with insect corpses and glass-like substances, to crack instantly.
With the Light Blade in hand, the Fierce Ghost swept through the incoming Insect Swarm, flipping the blade and gripping it with both hands, he plunged it fiercely into the center of the crack, causing a shockwave to erupt, shattering the glassified surface with a sharp crack.
The Fierce Ghost Mecha fell straight down into the huge cavity below.
From all around, dense elite combat units of the Insect Race threw themselves at it, completely covering the Mecha’s protective shield!
Just as the Mecha’s energy shield was about to break, that red shockwave appeared again, sweeping like a tide in all directions, also momentarily illuminating the countless members of the Space Worm Clan inside.
The Fierce Ghost Mecha fell with a great number of insects, and fierce fighting erupted again below.
Griss didn’t forget his own mission and dived headfirst into the cavity.
The insects didn’t even bother with Griss.
All of the insects converged on the Fierce Ghost.
