Chapter 144: Chapter 117: Mastering Barbarian Techniques to Control the Barbarians

It suddenly noticed that Wu Xiaode was looking at it.

"I’ll send you back to Fu Xi, I’ve got this covered, and it will be wrapped up soon," said the White Tiger.

"Thanks," Wu Xiaode replied.

"No problem, it’s been a while since I’ve had such a big pay day," the White Tiger said.

It gestured for Wu Xiaode to sit on its back, then leapt forward—

In an instant, man and tiger appeared in the suburbs of the Capital.

A massacre had just occurred here.

A cat was squatting under a tree, gnawing on a bird it had caught.

Wu Xiaode got off the back of the White Tiger and looked back, "Thanks."

"You’re welcome. I’ve replenished your Soul Power, and I left my contact information on your Wish Wall—if there’s more business like this, just call out for me," the White Tiger said.

"Alright," Wu Xiaode said with a smile.

The White Tiger nodded at him and withdrew into the Void, heading to the Holy Country to finish clearing up.

Wu Xiaode was about to walk away when he noticed the scepter floating up, bursting into boundless darkness, transforming into One World.

The One-eyed Giant stood in the center of the world, peering over with its vertically-pupiled eye.

"So it’s you," it said with a deep voice.

"Human, fate has only given you seven days. Do you think that by killing my followers, you can weaken my Power?" the One-eyed Giant asked with full of mockery.

"Of course, I’m not that naive. I killed them for one simple reason... because I wanted to," Wu Xiaode said.

The murderous intent on the One-eyed Giant grew denser.

To be serious, after leaving the Death Demon Cave, on the true timeline—where neither mirrors nor parallel worlds exist—

This was the first face-to-face encounter between Wu Xiaode and the One-eyed Giant.

He carefully observed the Giant’s expression only to discover it didn’t seem to know what happened in the parallel world.

Could it be that every parallel world has its own One-eyed Giant?

The One-eyed Giant looked up in the direction of the Holy Sect.

"Fools... to think you’re able to command spirits to serve you, what secret are you hiding..." the One-eyed Giant muttered.

The Book of the Dead suddenly flipped open, revealing a line of ice crystal characters:

"You are destroying the Holy Sect, the One-eyed Giant now regards you with a fresh eye."

"It has launched the Mind Reading Technique!"

"Coverage range: one hundred kilometers."

...One hundred kilometers, why don’t you just take a vacation?

Such was the only thought that came to Wu Xiaode’s mind, and he immediately started reciting as if by conditioned reflex:

"Black fertilizer turns to ash, ash turns to black fertilizer. Black fertilizer will volatilize when turned to ash, ash fertilizer will turn black when it volatilizes.

Black fertilizer volatilizes turning to ash causing the flowers to fly, ash fertilizer volatilizes turning black causing the flying of flowers."

The eye of the One-eyed Giant slowly widened, suddenly it shouted, "Enough! Stop reciting!"

Wu Xiaode replied innocently, "I’m not talking, what’s wrong with you?"

"You—" the Giant began.

"I didn’t speak. Or could it be that a ’God’ like you also secretly guesses the thoughts of a mortal like me? So even ’Gods’ are such trash, tsk tsk tsk," Wu Xiaode retorted.

Wu Xiaode and the One-eyed Giant looked at each other, neither willing to compromise.

To prevent the Giant from glimpsing his true thoughts, he silently recited in his mind:

"The angry dragon harasses the old farmer, the angry old farmer harasses the dragon. The farmer’s anger irritates the dragon further, and the angered dragon fears the farmer."

The One-eyed Giant’s eye twitched, and it buzzed, "You, the human, are insane."

Before it had finished speaking, a new line of ice crystal characters suddenly appeared on the Book of the Dead:

"The Mind Reading Technique has vanished."

Wu Xiaode secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

It probably can’t come over, right?

If it could come over, it would have struck directly instead of bantering endlessly with me.

In the Otherworld, it had once said that due to the rules of the world, it couldn’t directly appear in reality.

The celestial ladder...

That’s right, it needs a powerful enough celestial ladder to descend.

So, I should be safe for now.

Wu Xiaode silently fortified his inner resolve, staying on high alert, ready to release the Silent Demon Mist and make a getaway whenever needed.

The One-eyed Giant buzzed, "I understand the universe, all things, parallel worlds, all methods, and rules, almost all of them are certain; only you humans live like ants, and like maggots without reverence, you deserve death to the utmost."

"By the way you describe it, I didn’t realize you enjoyed eating maggots every day," Wu Xiaode said, hands on his hips.

"We will meet again soon... Your soul will be made into chewing gum that I’ll chew when I am idle, perhaps that will teach you reverence," the One-eyed Giant said angrily.

It stretched forth its hand, and the scepter in Wu Xiaode’s hand immediately vanished, appearing in its own.

"My Divine Power will be used by my subjects, and in four days, you will become an Eternal piece of chewing gum," the One-eyed Giant declared as it turned and began to fade.

The scepter followed it, vanishing into the Void without a trace.

Wu Xiaode stood in place thinking for a while.

Chewing gum?

You’re a giant, there’s no need to stoop to such human things.

But being turned into chewing gum would certainly be painful.

—There are only four more days!

That won’t do!

Wu Xiaode picked up his phone and dialed a number.

I must figure out a way to defeat the One-eyed Giant!

At the very least, I need to make it safely to the Death Realm without being turned into chewing gum!

Beep—

The phone connected.

"Have you made it back safely?" asked Zhao Junyu’s excited voice from the earpiece.

"Junyu, help me prepare something, I need to do something urgently," Wu Xiaode said.

"What do you need me to prepare?" Zhao Junyu asked curiously.

"Sacrifices," Wu Xiaode answered.

"Sacrifices? You haven’t joined the Holy Sect, have you?"

"The Holy Sect no longer exists..."

"What!"

...

One hour later.

In a private estate.

Dozens of chefs were busy preparing food, while the servants arranged it on tables.

The variety of food piled up like a little mountain.

A member of the Royal Guard handed a small metallic box to Wu Xiaode and said, "This is from Miss Xia Huilan, she asked me to bring it to you. She says this metallic box has space storage capabilities."

"Thanks, Jun Yu, I’ll treat you to a meal sometime!"

Wu Xiaode took the talisman and called Zhao Junyu.

"What exactly are you up to?" Zhao Junyu’s curious voice came through the phone.

"I have a sworn enemy, it’s incredibly powerful, unbeatable, I can’t win against it." Wu Xiaode said.

"So all this food—you’re offering it to that creature?"

"Yes."

"Aren’t you being a bit naive, Little Wu, what good does sending food do?"

"This is different from what you are thinking."

Wu Xiaode hung up the phone, walked up to the food, opened the box, and began to pack it inside.

All the food was neatly stored away.

He then turned and went back to a room in the manor, closed the door, and whispered,

"We need to find a person, someone who, for some reason, has the lowest hostility from the One-eyed Giant, even some recognition."

The Scale Armor on his body emitted a faint sound.

The Heroic Spirits seemed to deliberate for a while and seemed to have made a decision.

Wu Xiaode suddenly felt a premonition, just about to shout "Add me in," when he unexpectedly found an extra note in his hand.

...A note?

He looked around.

Beyond himself, there was no one else in the whole room.

How did this note get into his hands?

If someone could move so unseen, wouldn’t it be easy for them to kill him too?

Wu Xiaode was inwardly on guard, he opened the note and glanced at it.

It was scrawled with a line of small characters:

"The exploration of the expansion pack was not very successful, that’s not a place we like, work there was exhausting, we plan to bail unless there’s something that can refresh us—we would then consider stabilizing this channel."

Wu Xiaode was stunned for several seconds before he slowly realized.

Expansion pack...

He remembered, these were the fairies! Hadn’t they claimed they were going beneath Corpse Mountain’s bronze door, to seek some secret?

Why had they sent a note expressing their grievances?

But that door was important, linked to the secret of the One-eyed Giant.

If they could indeed succeed—

Wu Xiaode couldn’t help but say, "What do you want?"

All the characters on the note disappeared, replaced by various images, sausages, cakes, ice cream, candies... and so on, a whole pile of food.

Wu Xiaode looked at the note, unable to help but raise his head and look again at the food laid out in the room.

Just food, is that it?

Then I’ll share some with you.

He placed some food on the table and cleared his throat,

"You have indeed worked hard, so, the food on this table, I’ll give it all to you in the hopes that you will continue to strive, helping me to open up that passage and let me see what’s inside."

Whoosh—

All the food on the table disappeared.

Wu Xiaode quietly waited a few minutes.

No new developments occurred, so did they really just want some food?

Incomprehensible.

He looked down at the note, only to see that the small characters had been refreshed:

"Such beautiful and plentiful food!"

"We will find a better spot for you in the world passage between life and death!"

"Leave it to us!"

After he finished reading, every character on the note disappeared without a trace.

The note turned into a leaf.

Wu Xiaode shook his head and sighed, placing the leaf on the table.

Since the fairies had no further requests, he would leave them be.

The matter at hand was still more pressing.

Wu Xiaode said,

"Add me in."

Whoosh—

He vanished from the room.

Death Demon Cave.

Wu Xiaode landed directly, standing in a corner of the grand hall.

He looked down to see himself clad in bloody, tattered armor, the blade of his longsword notched from heavy use.

An extremely strong and ominous aura emanated from his body.

His head suddenly ached.

A strange memory flooded into his mind.

"Ah... so that’s how it is."

Wu Xiaode murmured.

He was now the "Blood Butcher."

This was a somewhat rare profession—one must have killed tens of thousands of enemies and taken pleasure in the act to be awarded such a title.

Wu Xiaode glanced at his Soul Power.

"19/19."

Good, with this base number, he could throw himself into the fray without reservation.

He gripped his notched longsword and strode towards the depths of the Demon Cave.

Atop Corpse Mountain.

The voice of the One-eyed Giant echoed from afar,

"Ah, a blood-thirsty fellow, your passion for slaughter reminds me of years past."

To subdue the enemy with their own methods.

Wu Xiaode silently repeated the phrase and with a smile on his face said,

"We could become friends."

A deep red beam came flying toward him, reducing him to ashes.

"Insect, in your next life be reborn into the Giant Clan, then come tell me those words again," said the One-eyed Giant coldly.
