Chapter 47: A Plan.

As he headed farther east, Lin Mu suddenly turned in his saddle, facing the oncoming Jebaki. He raised his voice, momentarily activating the nightshade breathing technique again to enhance his voice, taunting them with a smirk.

"Is that the best you can do? I’ve seen toddlers shoot better than you!"

"Come on! Don’t tell me the mighty Jebaki can’t even kill a poor defenseless boy?"

" Do you guys even have any balls under there or is it all just scales I see?"

The Jebaki snarled in anger, their leader’s face contorting with rage. He notched an arrow, infusing it with his initial stage Qi Condensation Qi, and released it with a roar.

Lin Mu continuously winced in pain from the barrage of arrows yet when the jebakis leaders arrow struck him, he coughed out a mouthful of blood mixed with saliva, blood staining his clothes.

The force of the arrow almost sent him flying off autumn Wind, But he held his ground, refusing to let all his efforts go to waste. Waiting for the right moment.

"NOW!!!"

As the next volley approached, he yanked on Autumn Wind’s reins, making her take a sharp turn, narrowing missing them by a hairs breath. The arrows, now devoid of their intended target, struck the sand where the sand instead.

RUMBLE...

The ground trembled. A low rumble echoed through the desert as the sand erupted, revealing a monstrous creature. Its head resembled that of a shark, with rows of razor-sharp teeth, while its elongated body bore the segmented armor of a centipede. It was an Anthroporal Shark!.

This was what Lin Mu was aiming for from the very beginning. The beast’s eyes gleamed with fury as it turned its gaze toward the Jebaki.

UWWAAHHH!!!

The Jebaki froze, their expressions shifting from triumph to terror. Before they could react, the creature lunged, its massive jaws snapping shut around one of the warriors. Panic ensued as the Jebaki scattered, their formation broken.

Lin Mu seized the opportunity, spurring Autumn Wind back toward the Serinerians. As he rejoined the group, they stared at him in disbelief.

His body was strewn with arrows while his clothing looked like it was dipped in a pool of blood, right now he looked no different than a blood soaked porcupine and yet...

His gaze still held strong, a satisfied smirk on his lips.

"Did you... did you summon that thing?" one of them asked, eyes wide.

Lin Mu barely managed to flash his pearly whites, his voice fading into a whisper. His eyelids threatening to close shot "Let’s just say those bastards happened to make a new friend."

The Serinerians, still in shock, watched as the beast decimated the Jebaki before returning their gazes onto Lin Mu.

Non of them spoke a word yet inwardly, each of them were wondering how he was still alive after suffering such levels of injuries.

Lin Mu understood their disbelief yet he himself thought that he’d been through worse, you didn’t get to live a simple life when you were branded the world’s weakest human.

Some people had already pushed him through similar things just because they could, some for a chance to release their pent up frustrations or because they were influenced by those around them... yet in the end, they still didn’t dare to kill him. Even if he had no ability, he was still a living person nonetheless.

Brother Wangs sudden voice snapped the party back to reality.

" What are you all doing staring so absent minded?!"

"Can’t you see he’s seriously injured?!"

" We can’t let junior brother Lin’s efforts end up in vain!"

" Heed my call brothers, let us return to the tribe before these scaly wretches deal with that beast!"

As they resumed their journey, the system’s voice echoed in Lin Mu’s mind.

[Congratulations. You’ve completed the hidden mission: Bringer of despair]

[Mission requirements: Cause a total of 1000 lower life forms to feel true despair]

[Mission reward: Reward function upgraded! System Shop unlocked!]

After slaying so many beasts to improve his cultivation base, plus the Jebaki’s who were now in disarray. Lin Mu had unknowingly completed the hidden mission.

’ Despair you say... Feels good when I’m not on the receiving end for once’ A smile played on Lin Mu’s lips as he finally gave in and shut his eyes. Leaning onto Autumn Winds body for support. He didn’t even have time to comprehend the last system message.

Lin Mu suddenly stirred from the depths of his dark slumber, his consciousness clawing its way back to the world like a diver breaking the surface of a dark, endless sea.

The first thing he noticed was the faint warmth of sunlight filtering through the windows of his rent, casting dappled patterns across his bare chest. His eyes fluttered open, and he froze, his breath catching in his throat.

To his disbelief. There, sprawled across the mat beside him, were Lian and Mei, the twin daughters of the Serinerian tribal head, their stunning forms tangled in the soft furs of his bedding.

Their violet and azure skin gleamed faintly in the dim light, the subtle sheen of their feline features... Luscious lips, fluttering eyelashes, and majestic lion-like tails, lending them an otherworldly beauty.

Their thin, gauzy like garments clung to their budding curves, slipping slightly in their restless sleep to reveal glimpses of smooth, radiant, soft skin.

The sight sent a flush of heat creeping up Lin Mu’s neck, his heart hammering as he tried to parse the scene before him.

’ Just what are these two up to now!’

Their sleeping postures, so unguarded and intimate, left him utterly speechless, his mind teetering between awe and embarrassment.

’ Nevermind... I’ll ask them later. Right now I should be more worried with what happened after that crazy fight.’

Clearing his throat softly, he averted his gaze, focusing instead on the intricate patterns woven into the mat beneath him.

’ System... I know your awake., care to tell me what happened... after taking all those hits, I was sure I was done for.’ he thought, his mental voice tinged with a mix

of panic and indignation as he tried to banish the less-than-pure thoughts swirling in his head.
