Chapter 656: Chapter 44 Out of Control_2
"Stop! Something feels off; his transformation process was way too smooth," An Ran said nervously.
Chen Tianwen pondered for a moment and also felt it wise to be cautious.
"Xiao, it’s not that I don’t trust you, but one has to be careful with these things. So, I’m going to ask you a few questions. If your answers are fine, I’ll let you out. First question—do you feel like eating raw meat or fruit right now?"
Xiao Jie was speechless. Alright, he could understand being cautious, but he’d rather spend precious time testing the capabilities of this body. The Jiao Long Transformation was no easy feat, and he had the feeling that his body was constantly trying to revert to its original human form every moment.
He couldn’t possibly maintain this form forever.
After a thought, he decided to do it himself.
Qi Observation Skill!
Xiao Jie’s eyes widened sharply, and the world around him suddenly turned into black and white. The desert was still there, but it became fuzzy and indistinct, appearing and disappearing intermittently. At the edge of the desert, two white silhouettes stood out clearly. Xiao Jie focused his spirit, staring intensely at the figures, ignoring everything around him and wriggling forward swiftly, directly walking out of the Array.
"You..." Seeing the gigantic Jiao Long head suddenly emerge from the Array, Chen Tianwen was stunned on the spot.
An Ran hadn’t realized what had happened and thought Chen Tianwen had released Xiao Jie.
"Wow, that’s so cool! Hey, hey, hey, be careful, don’t wreck the room," she exclaimed.
The massive body size of the Jiao Long did indeed make it quite inconvenient, but luckily, being a serpentine creature, it could coil up in the hall.
After crawling out of the Array, Xiao Jie made a round in the hall. Now that he was away from the Array’s environment, the real sensation of the transformation was even clearer, but the resistance from the body was also more intense. Every joint and every fiber of his being were struggling.
That’s enough, it’s about time.
Xiao Jie gave up resisting and went with the flow. In an instant, he deflated like a punctured ball, quickly shrinking and transforming back into human form in the blink of an eye.
"Wow—Damn!" An Ran let out a half-shocked, half-excited shriek, one hand covering her face while her gaze slipped through the gaps between her fingers.
"Hey, hey, why aren’t you wearing any clothes?" she exclaimed.
Xiao Jie also sensed the nakedness and, helplessly, grabbed a tapestry hanging nearby to cover his lower body. "Uh, Brother Tianwen, do you have any clothes to lend me?"
"Of course," Chen Tianwen said as he hurriedly went to his room and fetched a set of casual clothes for Xiao Jie.
After getting dressed, An Ran finally lowered her hand, her face showing a hint of lingering excitement.
"How come your Transformation made your clothes disappear?" she asked.
Xiao Jie sighed: "Maybe our transformation skills are different."
"It’s a good thing mine doesn’t; otherwise, it would be so embarrassing," she said.
"It’s no big deal; you wouldn’t look bad naked either," Xiao Jie declared seriously.
His comment made An Ran blush and retort with annoyance, "Hmph, I’m not as shameless as you."
After the playful banter, it was An Ran’s turn.
"By the way, what’s your demon beast transformation?" she asked curiously.
"Heh heh, you’ll find out soon enough. It’ll give you a good scare. Master Chen, I’m going to enter the Array," she said with excitement.
"Please do," Chen Tianwen responded.
Stepping inside, An Ran marveled, "Wow, this is so lifelike." The excitement in the Array was even greater than Xiao Jie’s.
She joyfully played with the sand on the ground.
Xiao Jie and Chen Tianwen, observing the inside of the Array through a basin of water, were also amazed by the interesting formation.
"Hey, hey, can you hear me?" he called into the basin.
"I can hear you."
"Just transform directly. If anything goes wrong, I can control you," he instructed.
"Okay, here I go. Should be no problem. You managed the Jiao Long transformation without a hitch; my becoming a demon beast should be a piece of cake. Watch closely!"
An Ran formed two magic formulas with her fingers, clapped her hands together, and a green light flashed in the palm of her hands.
Demon beast transformation—Spider Demon!
The sorcery’s green light enveloped her entire body, and the next second, with a shriek, An Ran’s body swelled and grew tremendously, instantly turning into a giant spider that was five to six meters tall, covered in long, fluffy fur.
With fangs and claws like knives, her original casual light gray attire directly transformed into the same color of spider fluff—it’s a relief she wasn’t wearing some gaudy dress; otherwise, it would have been even more frightening.
Xiao Jie was indeed startled as An Ran said he would be.
Fuck, a Spider Demon! Xiao Jie instinctively stepped back, not because he was a coward, but because he had an inexplicable fear of spiders since he was a child.
As a kid, whenever he walked through the forest, he was terrified of spiders crawling on him and would steer clear of spider webs.
If it were those smooth-bodied indoor spiders, it might have been fine, but what An Ran transformed into was one of those fluffy spiders that weave webs in trees and the wilderness.
And with such a huge size, her transformation greatly magnified the fear in Xiao Jie’s heart.
Luckily, Xiao Jie’s mana was now powerful, and even though he was scared, he was not genuinely terrified, just feeling a bit of a tingle on his scalp.
He had thought that An Ran would transform into a cute and adorable fox spirit or something, or it would be understandable if she turned into a bear or a tiger, or even a bird of prey at worst.
But to think she would turn into this kind of creature.
"I say An Ran, what were you thinking, choosing to transform into this thing?" Xiao Jie asked somewhat helplessly.
However, the spider in the basin did not answer; instead, it hissed!
The giant spider emitted a strange shriek from its mouth, then scurried around chaotically.
Xiao Jie was taken aback. What was An Ran doing? She couldn’t even talk—
"Not good, An Ran is lost!" Chen Tianwen suddenly exclaimed.
Xiao Jie also realized, "Shit, she got lost just like that? Didn’t she struggle at all?"
Chen Tianwen’s voice was grave, "The strength of demon beasts is inherently powerful, harder to control than normal beasts’ forms, especially since she turned into a spider, which has too great a bodily difference from humans. It might have been better if she’d transformed into a bear or a leopard—this is bad, she seems to have lost control."
Indeed, the spider in the scene was circling around in the desert frantically searching for a way out, but there was no way out of the Illusion Array, only futile struggle.
Xiao Jie’s heart tightened as well, as he had indeed guessed the reason. An Ran must have been too casual about her transformation after seeing how effortlessly he did it, resulting in her oversight.
"Is there a way for this Array to awaken her?"
"No way, this Illusion Array doesn’t include weather runes; it only has this one scene. It can only be switched on or off, without other functions."
"So what do we do?"
"You go in and beat her up. To maintain the demon beast form, the Demon Master needs strength, and once the strength is exhausted, she will revert to her original form. While she hasn’t completely lost her senses, awaken her as soon as possible to minimize the after-effects of the transformation."
This method was indeed simple and crude. Looking at An Ran’s Spider Demon form, Xiao Jie truly felt intimidated, but a man has to do what a man has to do; no matter how scared he felt, he had to take action.
"Okay, I’m going in. Brother Tianwen, cover me. And what if I injure her?"
"No worries, I have refined elixirs on me, as long as the injuries are not too severe, I can save her."
"Alright, then I’m going." With reassurance in his heart, Xiao Jie lifted his foot and walked into the Array.
Taking a step in, the surrounding scenery immediately began to change. A few steps further, and he had already entered the desert.
Hiss hiss hiss! The Spider Demon looked at Xiao Jie, its eight sharp legs shaking violently.
I’ll transform as well!
Jiao Long’s Avatar!
With a shake of his body, he instantly transformed into a gigantic Jiao Long that was over thirty meters long, having a complete advantage in size.
The Spider Demon saw this but did not flinch.
Sorcery—Heavenly Net!
White spider webs covered the sky and came at him thick and fast, coating Xiao Jie entirely, sticking to him firmly.
Xiao Jie tried to struggle free but couldn’t break loose; he did not know what material the spider web was made of—it was tough yet elastic. Even when pulled very long, it could not be broken; instead, it wrapped around even more.
Xiao Jie thought no wonder An Ran chose such a form; it indeed was very useful.
The giant spider approached Xiao Jie, with a sharp venomous sting emerging from behind its tail, clearly planning to take down Xiao Jie while he was immobilized.
