Chapter 623: Chapter 32: Battle of the White Dragon (Part 1)
Little Dragon Shrimp leaped into the air and vanished from everyone’s sight, leaving a chilling silence over the lake, broken only by the occasional neighing of horses, which was quite desolate.
Standing amidst the snowstorm, Xiao Jie and the four others stood side by side, his heart fluctuating between excitement and nervousness.
This was, after all, a dragon hunt, a Level 66 Boss. Even an injured dragon still imposed a tremendous pressure on him.
The guild had already made thorough strategic arrangements and contingency plans last night.
At this very moment, he couldn’t help but recall all the detailed arrangements of the dragon slaying operation in his mind.
He had memorized the action plan so well, but without any real dragon slaying experience, the plan was devised based on imagination and corresponding contingency tactics.
Luckily, dragons, though rare, had been tackled by quite a few players. The main team of Long Xingtianxia had slain two for practice, so the tactical process could still be somewhat anticipated.
But can the two really be compared? After all, a dragon’s strength is much greater, and it likely has the ability to fly.
In less than three minutes, screams from Little Dragon Shrimp could be heard from the voice chat.
"It’s coming, it’s coming, dammit, get ready to take on the monster!" Little Dragon Shrimp’s voice was full of fear, clearly indicating the difficulty of initiating the battle with the beast.
Everyone immediately perked up, and in the next second, a figure shot up from a crack, Little Dragon Shrimp like a hawk through the clouds, stepping through the air, doing seven or eight somersaults in midair and flying up to a height of over twenty meters.
Impressive Qinggong! Xiao Jie secretly praised in his heart. Although Flying Cloud Chasing Moon could almost match the flying height, the ascent speed was clearly slower, and it seemed Little Dragon Shrimp still had some energy to spare.
Soon after, Xiao Jie understood why he was so terrified; a giant white figure shot up from the crack, its massive form accompanied by a whistling wind and an angry roar, charging straight at Little Dragon Shrimp in the sky, its huge maw wide open, trying to bite him. Given the huge difference in size, it seemed like a snake devouring ants.
What a cool Boss!
Xiao Jie couldn’t help but exclaim in awe. It was just a fleeting glimpse the day before yesterday, and since it was curled up, the full breadth couldn’t be seen. But now, as the White Dragon flew out of the cave and stretched out its body, he got a clear look – about forty or fifty meters long, its snow-white scales shimmering crystal clear under the sun, soaring fins, fierce whiskers, towering horns like pillars piercing the skies, silver dagger-like teeth hanging upside down, and cold, disdainful eyes that shone with contempt for all creatures, truly impressive in appearance.
The only thing marring the beauty was that the White Dragon had scales missing from several places, and one horn was broken in half, clearly indicative of heavy injury.
White Emperor’s Son (Hidden World White Dragon) Level 66 Boss. Life Value 18000/36000.
Those below exclaimed at the sight, the large and magnificent White Dragon’s flight through the sky was spectacular — although terrifying, it nevertheless instilled a sense of awe and admiration, while Little Dragon Shrimp in the sky was filled with despair.
Just as he was about to be caught by the White Dragon, Little Dragon Shrimp suddenly twisted his body.
Cloud Stepping — Falling Star Flash!
With a somersault, he dived downwards, trying to shake off the pursuer. But the White Dragon smoothly performed a mid-air turn, defying aerodynamics and continued to pounce at Little Dragon Shrimp with ease, as serpentine as a snake through water.
Cloud Stepping — Moon Step!
Little Dragon Shrimp’s figure suddenly stretched out, stepping forward, and his falling momentum paused momentarily, as if he was stepping on invisible stairs, moving diagonally upward through the air.
But the White Dragon twisted its head again and followed with an unrestricted snake-like body movement, instantly reaching right behind Little Dragon Shrimp.
Cloud Stepping — Fog Invisibility!
A puff of white smoke enveloped his whole body, obscuring the White Dragon’s sight, as Little Dragon Shrimp’s figure burst out from the smoke, darting toward the ground. However, the next second, that white smoke was dispersed by an even larger figure, as the White Dragon, completely unfazed by the smoke, followed with astonishing speed, biting down menacingly.
Done for! Little Dragon Shrimp was freaking out inside.
Just then — Demon Capturing Hand!
A glowing blue hand grabbed Little Dragon Shrimp securely and yanked him fiercely toward the ground.
With a snort, the White Dragon bit down on empty air.
"Damn, thanks, bro!" Little Dragon Shrimp landed on the ground, sincerely thanking I Want to Be Immortal standing nearby, and without hesitation, he ran towards the Outer Circle to join the warning group.
The White Dragon had missed its bite and its downward momentum couldn’t be stopped. Its flying ability seemed to have some issues, so it just let itself fall to the ground, landing on all fours, right in front of the five players.
Its long and elegant neck bent down, peering at the dense crowd below.
"We attack now!" called Long Xingtianxia, and the guild began their charge, all five of them making their move at the same time.
Xiao Jie’s mind flashed through the dragon slaying plan’s content, First Phase: Secure Hate Value.
The front row needed to establish enough hate or threat to limit the White Dragon’s range of activity to a certain area.
Although the game did not have a visible Hate Value per se, any monster with some intelligence could understand the implications of threat and discern who posed a greater danger, prioritizing which player to target first.
If a monster felt that players at a distance or those Healers and Master of Magics casting spells were a greater threat, it would not hesitate to abandon its immediate targets and lunge at those in the back.
The higher the monster’s intelligence, the more it behaves this way. Only brainless creatures like zombies attack the nearest enemy by instinct.
