Chapter 519: Chapter 86 Heroic Alliance
Watching the Ghost Market disappear around them, everyone marveled, only Ye Luo seemed to have already grown accustomed to these strange changes between the worlds of humans and ghosts.
After a moment of reflection, Xia Yi the Unrivaled suddenly said solemnly, "Brother Sui Feng, I really owe you for this one. Without your help, I’m afraid I would’ve been in real trouble today. I owe you one; just ask for anything you need in the future, and I’ll face fire and blade without hesitation."
Just as Xiao Jie was about to say you’re too polite, an idea struck him, "Actually, there is something I could use your help with. After some time, I might need to fight a very powerful boss and will need a lot of helpers. Xia, why don’t you join in on the fun?"
"Hahaha, of course!"
Defeating Master Hongchen would certainly require plenty of hands, and every martial arts master added was another step closer to assurance.
Xia Yi the Unrivaled was originally strong, and if he could learn the Supreme Sword Skill this time, it would undoubtedly be a strong reinforcement.
"Xia, you promised earlier to take me to level up my swordsmanship, don’t forget about it," Bai Ze chimed in from the side as a reminder.
Xia Yi the Unrivaled promised readily, "I can’t forget. Once I complete my task, I’ll take you. If you’re worried I might forget, just come with me. It just so happens that the place where I’ll submit my task and where I need to go are in the same area. Brother Sui Feng, would you like to join us? I can show you some new maps; it might help with your saber skill practice in the future."
Xiao Jie thought for a moment, "Alright, let’s go and see."
His current goal was to level up. It didn’t matter where he trained, and he could even kill a few monsters along the way.
Besides, his Saber Skill Level hadn’t reached the Grandmaster Level yet, so a quick boost would be nice.
As for I Want to Be Immortal and Ye Luo, they also agreed.
"Alright then, let’s go," Xia Yi the Unrivaled said and then summoned his mount, leading the way. The four others also summoned their mounts, riding side by side toward the northwest of Ghost Mist Ridge.
On their way, they inevitably encountered Skull Zombies, ghostly undead, and other monsters. Xiao Jie and the others did not hesitate when they met monsters; they fought on sight, all aiming to level up, not letting any experience go to waste.
However, Bai Ze was quite terrified with every bit of experience he gained, deeply afraid of accidentally leveling up.
Later, he simply stayed far away with the Heavenly Soldiers, only approaching after the others had cleared the monsters.
Although they were down one fighter, Xia Yi the Unrivaled’s joining balanced out the combat strength. Xia Yi the Unrivaled was already at level 34; his combat strength was hardly inferior to Xiao Jie, and his physical output was even higher, making him very efficient in killing monsters.
While fighting, he couldn’t help but admire, "I say, Brother Sui Feng, you’re quite strong. It feels like you’re almost on par with me. Isn’t your Ancient Qi Refiner a magic profession? How come you chop so ferociously?"
"Hehe, just some fortunate encounters. Xia, your martial arts are unparalleled; don’t sell yourself short."
Xia Yi the Unrivaled didn’t inquire further but turned to Bai Ze, "I say, Brother Bai, you don’t need to be so nervous. At the Heroic Alliance, you can farm weapon experience easy."
"Heroic Alliance?"
"That’s right. The Heroic Alliance is akin to a grand martial arts conference; the Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch himself leads it. It’s filled with martial arts masters, each skilled with various weapons. As long as your favorability is high enough, you can choose to spar. It doesn’t provide experience points but does increase weapon proficiency."
"You need to farm favorability to spar?" Xiao Jie thought it sounded a bit troublesome.
"Not necessarily. I have a professional specialization called ’Like-minded,’ which allows me to recommend you to NPCs. You can directly gain 60% of my favorability with NPCs, and since I have basically maxed out my favorability with them, your favorability would start at 60, allowing you to start sparring immediately."
With Xia Yi the Unrivaled speaking confidently, Bai Ze also relaxed and joined the fight with the Heavenly Soldiers. As they followed the main road, they encountered no major monsters; the few small fry could hardly challenge the group. They sliced through their foes effortlessly, and in less than an hour, they arrived at the edge of Ghost Mist Ridge.
At the edge of the vast wilderness was a deep river.
"How are we going to cross?" asked Xiao Jie, eyeing the turbulent waters.
"Don’t worry, I’m prepared," said Xia Yi the Unrivaled as he pulled nails and wood from his bag and quickly hammered together a wooden raft.
Bai Ze watched in amazement, "Huh, can you really do that?"
"Master Level craftsman, that’s no small feat."
Xia Yi the Unrivaled declared, jumping onto the raft, and the others followed suit, lazily floating across the river.
Once across the river, the surrounding environment changed completely; gone were the dead trees and rotting grass, as well as the skeletal remains; instead, green grass and sparse woods once again prevailed.
After walking for a few more minutes through the woods, a fertile field suddenly came into view.
Endless golden wheat waves adorned with farmhouses and rising smoke created a peaceful scene. Some farmer NPCs were harvesting wheat, with some even using uniquely designed wooden ox mechanisms to transport food.
Looking around, there were no monsters, only the occasional harmless little creatures like crows and field mice, which farm kids chased around everywhere.
The midday sunlight poured down, painting the earth in hues of gold, presenting a picture of a peaceful era.
For a moment, Xiao Jie was stunned, hardly believing that such a wonderful place existed right next to the eerie and terrifying map of Ghost Mist Ridge.
