Chapter 394: Chapter 28 Demons and Humans_2

Ghost Curse—Blindfold the Ghost!

Ye Luo raised his hand, and instantly it went dark before the Black Bear Spirit’s eyes.

"Mommy, I can’t see, I can’t see anymore!"

While shouting, its bear paws flailed wildly.

The crowd automatically moved to the sides, not daring to linger and just bypassed it.

Looking behind, the group of demons had disappeared, but there were still about a dozen giant wolves, with wolf demons on warhorses in hot pursuit, led by a huge white wolf. Unlike the others, this white wolf was not riding a mount but was sprinting on all fours. Ironically, this creature was a humanoid wolf demon, which looked somewhat comic when running, yet its speed was genuinely swift, and it was gradually catching up.

"Speed up!"

"Feng, save me!"

It turned out that Hao Ye Starry Sky was gradually falling behind; his riding skill was only entry-level, and he rode just an ordinary travel horse, which was of no use even when activating the formation.

"Quick, use the Godspeed Talisman!" Hidden Dragon implored urgently.

"Ah—found it!" With a flash of white light, they suddenly accelerated again.

Xiao Jie thought that Pingtou had indeed prepared thoroughly for his brother.

However, the distance between them was still closing.

Xiao Jie opened his backpack and thought, what’s the deal with this little fox? Maybe it’s easier just to throw it out.

Just then, a loud shout came from ahead.

"Demons—how dare you act so arrogantly! Brother, do not panic, reinforcements are here!"

They saw on a hill ahead, a line of over twenty elite cavalry charging down the slope.

Xiao Jie was first shocked, then joyous—it was a friendly NPC!

Seeing this, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Looking back, the pursuers were thrown into disarray: some turned to flee, others still thought of chasing, and some were eager to clash with the cavalry.

In the blink of an eye, the cavalry was upon them. The riders, splendid in their armor and white horses like snow, were clearly elite. The leading ten didn’t utter a word; they bent their bows and arrows flew towards the wolf demons like locusts, striking several in the forefront and knocking them to the ground.

The enormous white wolf too took several arrows, unwillingly let out a wolf howl, and turned to flee.

The few that were slow to flee or wanted to fight close quarters were instantly slain by long spears, and in the blink of an eye, it was all over.

The scene seemed strangely familiar to Xiao Jie, reminiscent of an incident when he had left Newbie Village for Luoyang Town, led by Hidden Dragon to the rescue.

The cavalry deterred the wolf demons but they didn’t pursue too far, instead gathering around Xiao Jie and the others.

Now that the enemies were gone, Xiao Jie finally had the chance to closely examine these reinforcements. The knights were all NPCs, with no player among them, clad in full-body armor, covering thick armor everywhere, even their helmets were full-coverage adorned with various ornate animal-shaped visors.

The leader wore an extremely fierce tiger-head helmet, quite imposing.

Ling Hu Ping (Canglin Guardian): Level 28, Life Value 1400.

Because he was a knight, this 1400 represented the combined life value of both rider and horse.

"Many thanks for your rescue, brother!" Xiao Jie hurriedly expressed his gratitude.

"No need to be polite, suppressing demons and securing peace is part of our duty—Brother, coming from Qingqiu Village, did you by any chance encounter my sister?"

"Sorry, I did indeed pass by a desolate village just now, but saw no living souls, only corpses."

At that moment, Xiao Jie’s backpack icon suddenly flashed.

He anxiously opened the backpack, and saw to his astonishment, a small fox with an exclamation mark above its head.

Eh, what’s this situation?

Xiao Jie immediately realized that this little fox must be connected to the present Ling Hu Ping.

Right-click to summon.

The Little White Fox was immediately summoned.

Unexpectedly, a cloud of white mist rose from the little fox, and it transformed into a 12-13-year-old white-haired girl, extraordinarily cute, looking almost indistinguishable from human girls, except for a pair of sharp ears and a big fox tail indicating she was different.

"Cousin, woo woo woo I finally see you again," the little girl cried and threw herself into Ling Hu Ping’s arms.

Xiao Jie was taken aback for a moment, darn, this was actually a fox demon girl?

Wait—that’s not right, wasn’t it shown as a young fox cub before?

Confused, Xiao Jie watched as Ling Hu Ping comforted the little girl, bowed and said, "Thank you, brother, for bringing my sister out. I’m deeply indebted for your help; feel free to ask if you need anything."

Meanwhile, Ling Hu Ping took off his tiger-helmet revealing a fox face which bore a somewhat handsome appearance.

The other knights also removed their helmets, revealing animal faces—wolves, dogs, leopards, tigers... watching everyone’s bewildered expressions.

Xiao Jie was genuinely shocked now; he had learned about Canglin State’s unique qualities before and knew that demons and humans cohabited here, supposedly even having their own towns... but seeing it with his own eyes was a whole different feeling.

Yet Ling Hu Ping seemed not to notice everyone’s astonishment, "Those demons are wreaking havoc around, this place is not safe, let’s head back to the city first."

Listening to Ling Hu Ping call them ’demons,’ Xiao Jie thought, aren’t you a demon yourself?

But he wisely kept his thoughts to himself.

He gestured for everyone to follow this strange band of cavalry.

Yet just because he didn’t ask, it didn’t mean no one else was tactful.

Hao Ye Starry Sky curiously asked, "Aren’t you all demons too?"
