Chapter 196: Chapter 55 Telling a Story to White Ape
Huh, isn’t this the Firewood Axe?
Xiao Jie was somewhat surprised. He looked at the huge slash mark and the position where the Firewood Axe was embedded. It almost seemed like someone used this axe to kill the Willow Tree Demon in one hit.
The Willow Tree Demon was a good dozen meters tall; such an enormous monster should at least be Level 30 to 50, right?
The White Ape is even more ferocious than I imagined.
But why would it be the Firewood Axe? Could this axe have some sort of connection to the Woodcutter outside the valley?
Xiao Jie moved his mouse over the axe and discovered that there was an icon to draw the sword.
Xiao Jie clicked on the mouse and saw his character grasp the handle and forcefully pull it out.
Then there was a crack sound.
[System notification: The Firewood Axe has completely broken, you have obtained an item, Broken Firewood Axe.]
Xiao Jie opened his bag and took a look.
[Broken Firewood Axe (Trash)
Item Introduction: A severely rusted firewood axe that has shattered due to being overly aged and can no longer be used.]
Overly aged? Xiao Jie keenly sensed a slight detail bug.
The remains of this Willow Tree Demon in front of me don’t seem to have been dead for very long, so why is this Firewood Axe’s rust so severe?
"Old Monkey, when was this Willow Tree Demon killed?"
"It was last month, slain by the hand of the White King himself,"
"So this Firewood Axe is Senior Yuan’s weapon?"
"It seems like it."
Xiao Jie thought, that wasn’t long ago, so what’s the deal with this axe? It can’t be that White Ape specifically picked a rusted Firewood Axe to chop monsters.
There are too few clues to determine the truth, but Xiao Jie has a feeling that there’s definitely a connection here.
"Alright, let’s call it a day, Old Monkey. Take me somewhere to rest."
"Indeed, little brother is impressive, you wiped out those monsters so quickly. No wonder you caught the White King’s eye, follow me."
Xiao Jie hopped down from the Tree Demon’s corpse and followed the Old Monkey King through the valley, muttering as he walked, "Do you have a name? I can’t keep calling you Old Monkey all the time, right?"
"Hahaha, why not? I am indeed an old monkey, and we monkeys do not have anything like names. I am the Old Monkey, the White Ape is the White King, and the one showing you the way is the Little Monkey. What’s so strange about that?"
"Then Old Monkey, can you find me a place to sleep?"
Directly logging off was indeed an option, but if one logs off from a bed, they would receive an energetic BUFF upon logging in the next day.
"Sure, sure, little brother, come with me."
Leading the way, the Old Monkey took one man and one monkey to a massive wooden hut which was simple and crude but of considerable size, built from various round logs, broken planks, and branches, obviously constructed by these monkeys.
"Those young and strong monkeys can sleep on the trees, but us old ones cannot. Fortunately, there are no ferocious beasts like the Zhailang in this valley, so we live in this wooden cave. The White King calls this thing a ’house’."
Tsk tsk, this White Ape is also an inventor.
When the man and the monkey walked into the wooden hut, the other Old Monkeys inside immediately began to exclaim in alarm.
"Where did this monster come from?"
"Look, what a bald Great Ape!"
"Old Monkey, what have you brought here?"
"Mind your manners, this is the White King’s guest," the Old Monkey King said.
Hearing it was a guest of the White Ape, the Old Monkeys immediately fell silent.
Suddenly, a snort came from a corner, "Hmph, what kind of King? Just another demon."
Xiao Jie looked toward the voice; it was a monkey sitting in the darkness of the corner who spoke. The monkey was incredibly stout, covered in muscles, with a body full of black fur, looking somewhat like a gorilla, lying on a wild grass mat, picking lice while showing a fierce demeanor.
Great Barbarian Ape (Defeated Monkey King): Level 16 Elite, Life Value 1200.
The Old Monkey seemed somewhat afraid of the Great Barbarian Ape, but still argued, "How dare you speak ill of the White King."
"Exactly, say another word against the White King, and we’ll kick you out!"
"Great Barbarian Ape, just because you were once the king doesn’t mean you can gossip recklessly. Now, it is the White Ape who is the true king!"
The old monkeys started to gabble, but the Great Barbarian Ape sneered coldly again without saying anything more.
Xiao Jie became interested; this Old Monkey King seemed to know something.
"Why do you say that Senior Yuan is a demon?"
"Hmph, I don’t converse with humans."
He knows humans? This Great Barbarian Ape seems to have some knowledge indeed, and it may very well be the key to unraveling the mystery of White Ape’s identity.
But the Old Monkey King said, "Don’t mind him. He may look big and strong, but he’s useless. When he was the Monkey King, he couldn’t protect the monkeys, and after the White King came, he became even more useless. If he causes any trouble, feel free to teach him a lesson, little brother."
Once the Old Monkey King left, Xiao Jie did not rush to log off but walked over to the Great Barbarian Ape and continued to ask questions.
The Great Barbarian Ape just lay on the grass mat, staring blankly, completely ignoring Xiao Jie’s questions.
Xiao Jie suddenly laughed.
"I get it; you must be lying. You got beaten and felt ashamed, so you called Senior Yuan a demon to make excuses for your defeat. Tsk tsk tsk, such a shameless monkey. Losing is losing, what’s there to be embarrassed about.
It’s normal for you to lose to someone as powerful as Senior Yuan."
The Great Barbarian Ape was not angry but snorted coldly, "You don’t need to provoke me, cunning human. I know all your tricks, and I won’t tell you unless—"
