Chapter 132: Chapter 11: Making Friends through Martial Arts_2
"An Ran?"
"Who else could it be?" the lynx spoke in human tongue.
"Aren’t you afraid of being seen?"
"Don’t worry, my ears are extremely sensitive. I can hear any movement within a hundred meters; I’d detect anyone approaching. Otherwise, how do you think I noticed you?"
As she spoke, she effortlessly leapt through the air and landed in front of Xiao Jie, who was taken aback by the six or seven meter jump. She had moved with such ease, unlike Xiao Jie, who had to exert himself for a similar leap.
"Don’t worry, I’ve mastered transformation abilities already. I won’t bite you—Saber Skill’s not bad, huh? Just learned it?"
"Yeah, you haven’t seen this Saber Skill before?" Xiao Jie asked, puzzled. He thought the Gale Saber Technique was quite common since it was taught in the martial arts school, wasn’t it?
"Don’t be surprised. Different martial arts schools teach different Saber Skills, and each instructor has distinct skills, so what Saber Skill you learn really depends on luck."
So that was it. Xiao Jie had thought all martial arts schools in each town taught the same Martial Arts, but this way, wouldn’t there be countless different martial arts schools in the game? "What are you doing here?" Xiao Jie asked.
"The same as you, adapting to Strength."
An Ran shook her fur and transformed back into her human form.
She stretched her limbs, especially rubbing her eyes as though the difference in vision between her lynx and human forms was significant.
Her interest piqued, she glanced at the saber in Xiao Jie’s hands. "It’s boring to practice alone; want me to join you for a bit?"
"You know Saber Skills too?"
"Of course, otherwise how do you think I leveled up before Level 30?" She casually picked up the small tree Xiao Jie had chopped down, effortlessly breaking off its branches and swiftly fashioned it into a stick, twirling it into a saber flower, "Come on, let me give you some pointers."
Xiao Jie also wanted to break a stick, but An Ran couldn’t help but laugh, "You stick to the saber."
Xiao Jie pretended to be distressed, "This won’t hurt you, will it?"
"Hahaha, that joke isn’t funny at all."
"Then why are you laughing?"
"I wouldn’t want you to feel embarrassed, would I? Being such a gentle and pleasant beauty, I of course have to consider other people’s feelings."
Xiao Jie was at a loss for words. Gentle and pleasant... That sure is the real joke.
"Here I come." Saying so, he directly attacked with his saber.
He was well aware of the gap in their strengths, so he didn’t hold back at all.
Clang, clang, clang! Unsurprisingly, all three of his attacks were blocked without any issue.
Xiao Jie focused his mind. Although he knew she was at a much higher level and definitely stronger, only through personal combat could he truly sense how great the gap was.
She handled it with apparent ease. Even using a crude stick to block his three attacks was effortless.
This spurred Xiao Jie’s competitive spirit, suddenly activating his Inner Strength and slashing out, the blade whistling towards her.
An Ran showed an approving expression, "That’s more like it."
Clang, clang, clang! However, there was still no difference, the accelerated blade movements were easily neutralized by An Ran. Her Agility was clearly far superior to Xiao Jie’s, both in speed and reflexes, completely overpowering him.
Xiao Jie launched several more attacks. An Ran was blocking and dodging while speaking, "My turn."
As she swept away the Brocade Spring Saber, she swung her stick down, Xiao Jie quickly sidestepped to avoid it.
Another strike, Xiao Jie barely blocked it.
One more attack!
(Blade Reflection? No chance, too fast.)
This time, Xiao Jie couldn’t defend at all and had to perform a Hawk Roll to evade backwards.
But An Ran followed up by leaping into the air, aiming a blow at Xiao Jie’s head.
Just as Xiao Jie landed, the stick slammed towards his face, it was too late to block or dodge.
He could only let the stick tap lightly on his head.
"Ouch!"
"Stop pretending, I clearly held back. Also, your Saber Skill isn’t that impressive, I didn’t even use Inner Strength."
Xiao Jie thought to himself, big sister, you’re Level 30 hitting a Level 10, what do you expect?
Helplessly, he spread his hands, "No way around it, I just learned it and haven’t even mastered the routine yet. Besides, the gap in our strength is too big, there’s no comparison."
"It’s not about the level, your technique is also lacking. You could have redirected my blade just now, like this—" With that, she placed her stick on the edge of Xiao Jie’s saber, sharply twisted it to flick the blade aside, and then struck a reverse stab right into Xiao Jie’s chest.
"What kind of Skill is this? I haven’t seen it in the game, have I?"
"Jinghong Saber Technique, Seventh Move. The game’s Saber Skills are all predefined sets; they can’t be broken down. But in reality, that’s not the case; you can totally mix and match different moves or use them independently.
"Come on, let’s go again."
But Xiao Jie shook his head, "No use, I’m out of Inner Strength."
With Inner Strength, he couldn’t win; without it, there was utterly no chance.
An Ran was speechless, "What Level are you? Out of Inner Strength so soon? You seem quite weak."
"Ha, you got me. I’m just Level 10, fresh out of Newbie Village."
"No wonder." An Ran nodded thoughtfully, "Do you need me to teach you some gaming tricks?"
Xiao Jie responded eagerly, "I’d love that. Hey, do you know how to quickly boost Inner Strength? Is there a shortcut to max out my Inner Strength Level?"
"There’s no real shortcut, you could buy some elixirs for double the Inner Strength experience, but ultimately you still have to train slowly. However, I’ve heard some Heavenly Caves can speed up training, a day there is like three days elsewhere. If you’re lucky enough to find one, forget I said anything."
