Chapter 99 - 99 94 Sigh Cliff
99: Chapter 94 Sigh Cliff 99: Chapter 94 Sigh Cliff Even the most dreadful winter could not possibly bring frost to Harrison Port, located in the tropics.
But to merely turn the sea breeze cold, damp, and chilly, making one wish for a bit of snow instead—that was effortless.
At the very edge of the Redwood Forest, east of Ivorybone Mountain, if one continues to walk south along the endless cliffs, all the way to their end, a high and curiously uplifted terrain would be reached.
Here lies a cliff almost a thousand meters high, rising from the coastline like a mountain.
This is the end of South Ridge, known as Sigh Cliff.
If looked at from afar, the geography of Sigh Cliff is actually quite simple to understand—it is nothing but a rocky giant stone jutting into the sea because of geological movements, with the top of the cliff reaching far out into the ocean.
It is said that when the explorers who first arrived here stood on the top of the cliff, they felt as though they were standing at the very edge of the continent, with an endless Vast Sea still lying ahead, inevitably moved by the thought that although their journey had reached an end, the end of the world was still out of reach, hence naming the cliff Sigh Cliff.
Curiously enough, among the Natives’ legends, this towering cliff is called by a similar name, attributing to it the name of a ‘sigh’, solely because standing at the top of the cliff, everything ahead and to the sides is the boundless ocean, with only a thin line of land behind, compelling one to sigh at their own insignificance.
Late at night, Ian was carried on Hiliard’s back, unknowingly brought by his teacher all the way to Sigh Cliff in a flight-like rush.
When Elan was asleep, and the other neighbors were also at rest, it was time for Ian to take the Magic Potion.
However, since taking the Magic Potion was a noisy affair, Hiliard suggested going somewhere safe and secluded.
It was a good idea, and Ian naturally agreed.
And so, he was brought to Sigh Cliff.
——To think we’d have to go this far?
I thought the Misty Forest would be enough!
The above was Ian’s genuine thought.
The cold sea breeze crisscrossed at the base of the cliff, weaving a mournful and haunting ballad, carrying the hazy mist to beat against the coastal rocks, robbing all things of warmth.
This wind came from the far side of the sea, gradually changing from warm to ice-cold, and by the time it reached the shore, it was not powerful enough to blow halfway up the hundreds of meters high cliff, only able to form invisible currents at the foot of the cliff, causing the seawater on both sides of the high cliff to stir up vortex after vortex.
At the higher top of Sigh Cliff, there was no wind.
“This place is somewhat special.”
As Ian climbed toward the top of the cliff with Hiliard, he did not question Hiliard’s choice, because, with his ‘vision’ as a Spirit Energy User, he was certain that Sigh Cliff itself was a huge ‘Natural Spiritual Energy Field’!
The boy thoughtfully raised his hand, rubbing it casually against his clothes, immediately sparking a flash of electricity.
Ian saw that with a simple rub between his fingers and the cloth, clear arcs of electricity emerged, accompanied by crackling sounds, a faint silver-blue electric ring expanded in all directions following his motion, like the circles of breath that appear when exhaling in winter.
“Amazing.”
He raised an eyebrow and exclaimed, “Is the entire Sigh Cliff enveloped by a Spirit Energy Field inclined towards thunder and lightning?”
Spirit Energy exists not only within living beings but also within all things.
Not only the collective will of Spirit Energy formed by the merger of the entire Redwood forest and Forest Sea.
If the entire Terra World were to be regarded as a complete, self-circulating life form, then it wouldn’t be difficult to understand that the whole ecosystem, even the entire world, possesses Spirit Energy.
This is one of the three major types of Spirit Energy, ‘Natural Spirit Energy,’ which is a ‘major source’ that exists independently of the two ‘minor sources,’ ‘Spirit Energy’ and ‘Life Spirit Energy.’
The Spirit Energy Field, then, is a convergence point for Natural Spirit Energy on the Tella Continent…
To make a comparison, it is probably akin to the Primordial Seed within the world’s body.
A naturally-formed vortex of Spirit Energy.
It’s not surprising that Sigh Cliff is enveloped by a Spirit Energy Field.
Ian just marveled at the intensity of this field; a mere friction was amplified by the field to the point where arcs of static electricity were clearly visible to the naked eye.
If he were to operate a hand-cranked generator here, wouldn’t it transform into a Magnetic Storm Coil?
“The Spirit Energy Field of Sigh Cliff is very strong, and most importantly, it’s pure enough to suppress the natural impact of your Spirit Energy on your body, preventing a potential Spirit Energy outburst and ensuring that the consumption of Magic Potion goes without any mishaps,” explained Hiliard as he looked around the area, walking few steps to the left, then surveying in a circle to the right, seemingly in search of some elusive point of equilibrium.
A flash of silver illuminated his eyes, drawing the boy’s attention – could it be that his teacher also possessed Spirit Energy?
Or was this the manifestation of Life Spirit Energy?
Noticing Ian’s interest, Hiliard turned around and patiently elaborated further to his student, “I use the thunder field here to electrolyze seawater and then recombine the elements to create Pure Water…
And luckily there hasn’t been any storm recently, otherwise, this place would not only be bombarded by thunderstorms but would also be enveloped by swarms of Thunderhunter Jellyfish.”
“At that time, it would be much more dangerous to go to the Misty Forest.”
“Teacher, over here.”
At the same time, Ian, having activated Foresight View, observed the deep blue and purple mist covering the entire Sigh Cliff and pointed out the most gentle area, which also had the thickest purple mist: “I guess you are looking for this place.”
Following Ian’s pointing finger, Hiliard paused for a moment, then realized, “Right, that’s the place.”
He turned and gazed at Ian, smiling and patting the boy’s shoulder, “Your Spirit Energy is really good, perfectly suitable for growth.
I still need to rely on…
to confirm the core and calm area of the field, but you can tell just by looking.”
After finding the location, Hiliard took out a bottle of pale gold crystal liquid from within his garments.
Contained within a transparent crystal bottle, the crystal liquid shone like the sun on the dark Sigh Cliff, rotating and wandering slowly in the bottle, as if an invisible force was continuously driving its movement, altering its shape.
This was Essence of Origin Material extracted from the Swamp Crocodile Dragon’s thymus gland, possessing an inherent life vitality.
With Foresight View still activated, Ian stared intently at the crystal bottle in front of him, his eyes seemingly able to perceive the tiniest structures — he saw Origin Quality Crystal Chips of a purple-green mist level constantly rotating and restructuring within the crystal liquid, eventually forming a neat and regular whole, displaying an extremely methodical beauty reminiscent of Inscriptions.
“So that’s how it is—” Ian suddenly realized, “Origin Quality Crystal Chips are tiny structures of Origin Quality, and many of such chips put together form the rudimentary shape of a virtual Essence Organ!”
Although the pale gold crystal liquid appeared to be just a liquid, in reality, it encapsulated the Sublimation Organ structure from the Swamp Crocodragon’s thymus gland in Origin Quality form.
Consuming this liquid would imprint these Origin Structures onto one’s own Body, transforming the ethereal into reality, sublimating the corresponding organs of the consumer.
That is the true essence of Magic Potion!
