916: Chapter 71 You Are a Dragon, That’s Fine (Short Chapter) 916: Chapter 71 You Are a Dragon, That’s Fine (Short Chapter) Dawn was a mere hint in the sky when Ian and Elder Mantle arrived at the foot of the Iron Dragon Nest mountain.
The sky was pitch-black, and clouds churned like relentless waves, spiraling into the Iron Dragon Nest.
Visible to the naked eye, flashes of golden lightning occasionally streaked through the whirlpool of clouds, illuminating the intricate Inscription Circuits within.
This was not merely a natural phenomenon of wind and clouds but a huge Inscription Array constructed as a Spirit Energy entity, also serving as The Gate into the inner sanctum of the Iron Dragon Nest.
His cloak billowing in the fierce wind, Ian stood on the mountaintop edge, overlooking the Cloud Gate that led straight into the earth below.
He was about to enter, to unlock the Legacy left by the Quenched Steel Dragon Solstina.
As the Dragon God’s Emissary, there wasn’t much for Ian to do — the chieftains of the Rebel Highlanders who needed to be executed were killed, and those to be punished were punished.
Even though they were but soldiers, mere pawns of Fiery Flame Land and Kode Jiamu, since they had harmed the Mountain People on Ian’s side, blood was due to soothe the spreading wounds between the tribes.
As for the sentencing, Elder Mantle surely knew the situation better; he was now the full authority over the Mountain People, akin to an emperor in all but name — and Ian, as the Dragon God’s Emissary, was essentially the Pope of this rustic faith.
Speaking of the Pope, Ian’s main task was to oversee the repair of the Holy Mountain Super Giant Magnetic Storm Coil — now called the Tower of Thunderfall.
It would likely become part of the legend, a regular feature in the tales of the Mountain People, which was something Ian was pleased to see.
Based on his experiences in combating the Constructed Knight, Ian had optimized many aspects of the Tower of Thunderfall’s structure and had created a sturdy defense layer that also aided in the energy infrastructure of the Holy Mountain.
Like the Thunder Engine of Nauman City, the Tower of Thunderfall would continuously draw energy from the surrounding clouds, sustaining the operation of the Glimmer Cradle System more effectively.
However, the repair work was progressing very slowly.
After all, Ian couldn’t expect other tribes to contribute materials without compensation again, and laborers needed to be hired with wages.
It felt somewhat like the difference between a trial version and a full-use version of a campaign; almost like false advertising.jpg
But conveniently, such a large-scale project could also stimulate domestic demand.
At the same time, Ian planned to relocate the entirety of the obliterated Abode Tribe to the vicinity of Qiang Steel Sacred Mountain.
This was an enormously vast project.
Should it get completed and a brand-new Abode Tribe be constructed, the Mountain People’s infrastructure capabilities would be up to standard, meeting many of the construction requirements in Ian’s mind, paving the way for further foundational development.
Beyond that, Ian also began organizing the current tribal roster of the Mountain People.
He aimed to completely restructure the internal management framework of the Mountain People, building a system that could reach every tribe directly.
Although this was a daunting task, with the title of Dragon God’s Emissary, no one would openly oppose him.
Out of trust and admiration for Ian, many Mountain Tribes Chieftains couldn’t wait to express their eagerness, stating they would return to their tribes to carry out a census immediately.
To be honest, this enthusiasm took Ian by surprise, but Elder Prude told him that he had still underestimated the significance of ‘Dragon God’s Emissary’ to the Mountain People.
After all, it was the stuff of legends they had grown up with.
To tell the truth, in this era, the power of religious faith and heroic archetypes was really effective, saving a lot of effort in management and propaganda…
But likewise, there were sure to be latent problems.
For example, Ian couldn’t accept his tool being ‘Dragon God faith,’ a primitive belief system.
The propaganda and replacement of Supreme Spirit Sect were imminent.
But before that, the Iron Dragon Nest needed to be secured.
“This is the place.
You should know as well, to enter the Iron Dragon Nest, you’ll have to jump straight down,” Elder Mantle said, standing atop the peak, the fierce wind unable to move his cloak an inch, the power of the Heart-Light Shield faintly enveloping him, unimpeded by the celestial changes brought on by the Iron Dragon Nest.
Despite this, he had no intention whatsoever to follow Ian into the depths of the Iron Dragon Nest.
The authority of Dragon God’s Emissary cannot be shared by two, and a successor should not have another Elder with the same speaking rights—the old man knew very well that he was already old, no matter how reluctant or curious he was, if it was for the sake of the Mountain People, he had to restrain this desire.
And then, wait.
“Mm.
So I will go now.”
And Ian understood the weight of this wait.
He nodded solemnly and then leapt forth in a bound.
Plunging into the gateway of the clouds.
To be honest, the sensation of plunging into the vortex at the heart of Iron Dragon Nest’s cloud formation was nearly indistinguishable from diving into the Southern Sea Great Maelstrom—the damp mist hit the face all at once, followed by a gentle wrapping of Spirit Energy enveloping the whole body.
The Spirit Energy Field within the Iron Dragon Nest wrapped around Ian, swallowing him up.
Then, endless clouds churned like the tide of the sea but when Ian looked more closely, he discovered that those tides weren’t clouds at all but rather interwoven, nearly boundless scenes of memory.
These scenes touched Ian’s soul, as if they recognized that this person had received acknowledgment from Dazzling Lake and Qiang Steel Sacred Mountain, and then they gradually became clear, transforming from continuous misty tides into a series of incredibly wondrous vistas.
It was a dragon slowly awakening in the darkness.
A young dragon.
A frigid gas with temperatures below negative one hundred and twenty-three degrees slowly receded around a crystalline Dragon Egg, followed by temperatures soaring above eight hundred degrees as intense energy was released from within the dragon egg.
Cracks in the crystal emerged, creating an opening from which a silver young dragon slowly climbed out, curiously surveying its surroundings.
The outer shell of the juvenile dragon was semi-transparent, even revealing the internal organs and bone structure faintly visible within.
They operated as precisely as the tightest machinery, with pleasing and art-like twinkling patterns flowing through them.
Surrounding the Dragon Egg was an exceedingly advanced large laboratory; the Dragon Egg was located in the laboratory’s low-temperature vault, and nearby were many other Dragon Eggs of similar specification…
However, these Dragon Eggs were very different from the one the hatchling dragon came from, some resembled ice, some like uncoagulated molten lava, others like a gaseous storm, and some like a condensed electromagnetic confinement field…
And then, some were even semi-transparent, existing between reality and illusion, to call them material would be less accurate than calling them concentrated bodies of Spirit Energy.
But these Dragon Eggs were still incubating, lying dormant, sleeping, or simply dead…
Over a considerably long period, only this silver dragon was successfully born.
—I am, I am Sol-Starna-Bernarmein-Gokel…
In an instant, a massive amount of information surged from the depths of the young dragon’s thoughts, including its name, including information about its location…
But all this was driven away by extreme hunger.
The young dragon opened its mouth, having its first meal as a dragon—it gobbled down those crisp crystal eggshells, which were rich in precious heavy metals and high-energy Sublimated Metals, as well as many entities similar to Elemental Crystals.
For the dragon, which found the taste of these eggshells akin to snow cakes, it quickly swallowed them, and the partially translucent silver shell became sturdier and thicker and no longer transparent as it fed.
The first meal was finished.
With the hunger fading away and strength flowing throughout its body, the young dragon silently crawled out of the vault, heading towards the outside world to understand precisely where this ‘laboratory’ was located.
Then, at a clear dome in a certain hall, it saw where it was.
This place was, Terra Starfield·the eleventh planet・Original Nemesis orbit.
It was also part of the shattered remnants of Terra Starfield’s minor planetary orbits, after the ‘War of Shattered Stars’.
The juvenile dragon now found itself in an ecological garden within a large fragment of a planet on this minor planetary orbit.
