(6600, first update)_4 [But this time, we will unite in our hatred and confront their conspiracy and trickery!]

[This time—Brethren!]

[We will not lose!]

“We will not lose!” “We will not lose!” “We will not lose!”

Due to the sunlight, due to the fervent atmosphere, due to the anger ignited in thousands of people, the air heated up, even the chilly winter air at the beginning of the year was heated amidst the rising vapor of the crowd.

A widow, a mother, felt somewhat deprived of oxygen in her brain; dazed, she raised her head to look at the young man where the lightning was.

The young man, proclaiming the future, proclaiming the commencement of another war…

Different from those engulfed in frenzy, she felt a chilling cold sweep over her.

—Beneath high ideals, inevitably lie buried bones; beside impassioned proclamations, sacrifices always accompany.

Glory and death, merits and wars…

Reviving a tribe may simply require several battles, but reviving the civilization of the Mountain People needs multiple wars.

Feeling dizzy, and terrified of such a future, she staggered backward, nearly falling over.

If not for her child firmly grasping her hand, she might have fallen…

and the surrounding Mountain People, lost in excitement, failed to notice this.

She would not believe the surface level.

She had already lost so much.

Her heart was long ago torn apart by agony, thus she could perceive the cruel reality of the future more clearly, rather than the lofty ideals on the surface of grand narratives.

Yet.

She understood all too clearly…

if not for the presence of this Dragon God’s Emissary, what awaited the Mountain People would indeed be despair, many times—hundreds of times—crueler than this brutal future.

Merely caring for the happiness of one’s own family was doomed to change nothing about this desperate end; merely fantasizing about ‘self-preservation’ meant being inevitably swallowed by the tides of the era.

—What should be done?

How many times must we common folk experience separation and death to see that so-called ‘glory’?

“Mommy, don’t cry…”

The child’s tender voice brought back her thoughts; she wiped the corners of her eyes, realizing tears had already filled her face, while the fervent roars of the surrounding Mountain People, shouting ‘We will not lose!’ resonated through earth and sky.

It is a good day.

The Emissary of the Dragon God is indeed genuine, possessing such power and courage, leading the Mountain People towards the future in his heart.

But not everyone is so.

She wanted to feel pain but it was too alien; among people’s cheers, she lost the power to feel pain.

She wanted to curse, but it seemed nonsensical; she knew well that the war was not the emissary’s fault, so she lost the courage to curse.

If only she was truly alone, then she could seek death.

But her child, her child holding her hand, nibbling on the crackers distributed by the tribe, watched her with the same deep blue eyes as his father, filled with concern as he just saw her crying.

The child understood nothing; he wore ragged clothes, occasionally turning his head to gaze at the Holy Mountain.

Surrounded by the fervent crowd, he would be educated by the tribe, and he would eventually become a man like his father.

Courageous, fearless, full of glory, charging into battles for the tribe, and then dying at some place as a person.

—Dragon God, O Emissary.

—Whoever it may be, please tell me.

—How can I escape this pain, how can I hold on to this small piece of happiness at my side?

She closed her eyes, kneeling on the ground, hands clasped, praying in the direction of the Holy Mountain.

In the cheers of the Mountain People, there were roars, bellowing, joyful smiles, and also oblivious prayers.

Ian calmly overlooked all this, taking everything into his eyes.

—The powerful, are indeed the wicked.

Because in face of the powerful’s will, the weak can only be swept along towards the future the powerful desire.

He knows.

He is not the chosen one to bring about a perfect ending.

He knows.

He will protect a portion of the Mountain People to reach the future, and also let a portion of the Mountain People die on the path to the future.

He knows.

He has seen much already, from Leyan Territory to the Imperial Capital, from Avak Domain back to Bison Mountain Range, the young man has seen too much suffering, setbacks, and tragedy.

He still remembered those Phantasms in Azure City, those wailing souls and bloodstains, those decaying corpses and people who once had dreams.

Ian always knew, in the grand cycle of societal civility, individuals of humanity will forever be adrift, perplexed and helpless, just like those parents who lost their children and those children who lost their parents, like those wives who lost their husbands and those husbands who lost their wives, they are all sunk forever in irreversible despair and grief, never to recover.

War.

War has never changed.

The full-scale war between Fiery Flame Land and The Empire is imminent, it has even begun, and no one can escape it.

If one wants to break this cycle, a new world must be recreated, another Human Realm must be built.

And such a new world can only be born amidst utmost pain and obliteration.

“Without having endured pain…”

Ian surveyed the countless people before him: “one cannot imagine Paradise.”

He gazed at these Mountain People who were unusually united and easily agitated due to a civil war and victory, murmuring to himself: “If you haven’t lost something, you wouldn’t want to grasp anything tightly.”

“Because witnessing tragedy, thus one wishes to create a joyous ending.”

“Mountain People…

fortunate or unfortunate, you meet this criterion.”

“Therefore, you can be of use to me.”

With such a whisper, Ian felt he might be a devil, using people’s pain and their urgent desires to fulfill his own objectives.

But if it is for his own goals…

Then let him be a devil.

“I will become the most terrifying devil in this world, using your desires and dreams to shape a brand new realm.”
