(5400)_3 But with the destruction of the Southern Ridge Flame Field Special Combat Squad base, at least around the Bison Mountain Range, the struggle between the two sides has come to an end for now.
That’s the theory anyway.
Following the real-name report by Chief Olay of the Ronggang Tribe from within the ‘enthusiastic group of Mountain People’, The Empire has come to realize that some treacherous Mountaineers actually pledged allegiance to Fiery Flame Land and assisted them in bringing the elite Sublimators, the ‘Constructed Knights’, into Imperial territory.
The news shocked public opinion.
The capital region of the Southern Ridge Area, Nauman City, officially announced that it had entered a state of full-scale war, and the Azure Cloud Knights of the Ten Great Knight Orders stationed on the eastern side of the Bison Mountain Range immediately deployed three titled Knights.
Meanwhile, around the fortress of the Abassalom Mountain Range where the two sides were in standoff, a fierce air skirmish occurred, resulting in the loss of several Sky Armor suits on both sides.
Full-scale conflict looms imminently.
For a while, the situation in the Southern Ridge Area became even more enigmatic—the unrest among the Dragon Group had begun, reinforcements from the Azure Cloud Knights were on their way, and the Mountaineers were suppressed but the mood amongst the people was unsettled.
Before the regular forces of the Nineteenth Legion formally deployed, the hidden Constructed Knights lurking deep in the mountains had already been activated.
Their target was none other than the Holy Ground of the Mountain People, Qiang Steel Sacred Mountain, guarded by the pillar of the Imperial Mountaineers, the Avod Tribe.
At this moment, both Ian and Elder Mantle have arrived at the Holy Mountain.
Under the command of Elder Mantle and the arrangements by Ian, members of the Avod Tribe, as well as other Mountaineers who had come to worship the Sacrificial Flame, were mobilized to begin construction of the ‘Thunder Calling Tower’.
If it were simply announced in an obtuse way that a defense tower was to be built at the Summit of the Holy Mountain to guard against a sudden raid by Constructed Knights, not just the other Mountaineers, but even those within the Avod Tribe would oppose—how could the sanctity of the Holy Mountain be defiled by such a structure?
Of course, Ian wasn’t that foolish.
His first act upon arriving at the Avod Tribe was to extensively promote victory; buoyed by the head of Kord, the already exuberant atmosphere of the Avod Tribe erupted into even greater fervor, endlessly cheering for Ian and the people of Mantle.
Next, seizing the momentum, Ian declared that he had received a revelation from the Dragon God at the Iron Dragon Nest.
He would build a high tower as a symbol of the new era for the Mountain People, to smite all invading enemies with lightning.
At that moment, the white-haired youth stood at the Summit of the Holy Mountain with the Sacrificial Flame at his back, a True Dragon standing tall behind him, as the Emissary of the Dragon God proclaimed to all the Mountaineers who believed in him:
[When the Illusiory Moon is obscured, when the night steals away the light, when the decayed sanctuary once again faces the threat from beyond the distant mountains]
[The wrath of the heavens shall come in an instant, washing away all mottled rust]
There were two ways to interpret this prophecy: one was in the traditional prophetic style of Terra, which required dividing it into fourteen lines and filling it with many enigmatic and dreamlike descriptions—irrational but grand and magnificent, sounding literary but beloved by the Terra people.
The other interpretation was plain and simple: the enemy would strike on a cloudy, dark night, and then be smitten by our newly built defense tower with lightning.
Nothing more than an Apocalyptic forecast.
In any event, after Ian’s prophecy, all Mountaineers burst into cheers—even though all the higher-ups knew Ian was no Prophet, how could ordinary people discern that?
They wouldn’t find it odd to consider the Emissary of the Dragon God as a Prophet, let alone that Ian truly was one.
Besides, they had no idea that the tower Ian was building was an Ultra Giant Magnetic Storm Coil; they thought it was a Meditation Tower that Ian built to harness helping winds and to predict the future…
Similar notions are commonplace in various stories and legends, akin to beautiful elvish ladies throwing themselves at heroes as told by Ballad Poets—these are plot elements that the public loves to hear and see.
Every High Priest, Herald, and Prophet needs his own tower!
If this were the Information Age, Ian’s actions and prophecies would probably have been exposed quickly, but who can blame the Mountain People for their scarce literacy?
Their understanding of the outside world comes from the boasting of caravans and all sorts of stories and legends, naturally including those told by Ballad Poets.
Ian’s prophecies were not only modest, but also remarkably practical.
In short, with this prophecy, the work efficiency of the Mountain People greatly improved.
Although they vaguely knew that strong enemies would invade Qiang Steel Sacred Mountain, the backdrop of a great victory and the motivation from Ian’s prophecy, together with the noble sense of honor in defending the Holy Mountain, didn’t scare them.
Instead, they swore to the Holy Mountain one by one, vowing that they would defend the Holy Ground and never fail to uphold the glory of their ancestors and the Dragon God.
Especially the Mountain People workers responsible for assembling the Ultra Giant Magnetic Storm Coil who were allowed to go near the Sacrificial Flame and bathe in its glow from a close distance — heaven knows how much of an honor that was.
They competed eagerly for the task, with several tribe Chieftains even taking the initiative to approach Ian and Elder Mantle, offering to work as carriers or even to work on the components of the iron tower themselves.
Of course, there was no reason to refuse such offers, as one Sublimator could do more than one or two hundred Ordinary Mountain People.
To be honest, assembling a simply structured tower in Terra is mainly about the availability of raw materials.
With materials, really, everything is simple.
As it happens, the Mountain People lack almost everything, but not various metal ores.
When they hear it’s for the defense of the Holy Mountain, many tribes directly offer their most treasured resources…
Of course, it’s not entirely due to faith, but faith combined with the power from the Third Energy Level emanated by both Elder Mantle and Sio, as well as the leadership of Chief Kord…
This produces utmost piety that’s beyond expression.
Visible to the naked eye, the construction of the Giant Magnetic Storm Tower is rapidly underway, with nearly ten Sublimators working under Ian’s direction as helpers, transporting parts of the Magnetic Storm Generator shipped from Xiawei Territory and processing various raw materials.
To get to work, you even need connections.
Heaven knows how many Mountain People have demonstrated their unique skills to Ian in the hope of working close to the Sacrificial Flame at the summit of the Holy Mountain, including old Priests capable of crafting micrometric precision parts with their two hands.
This old Priest was formerly an engraver who has been skilled in all his life at chiseling and carving these metal and stone materials.
In his view, working on a Sublimator’s core parts is no different from sculpting the Dragon God Statue, or perhaps even simpler.
“This is”
Deeply moved, Ian recorded all these people in the ‘Talent Memo’ within the Silver Chip — truly, there are masters among the common folk.
“It seems that I still had some inertia in my thinking,” Ian reflected on himself.
“Terra is different from Earth, where such skilled individuals are rare.
But in Terra, who knows where relics of an ancient civilization could be found, and a small village in the mountains might even share insights into controlled nuclear fusion.”
In fact, aren’t the Mountain People just a small village in the mountains?
They even shared with Ian the technology of the Heavenfall Spaceship!
Soon, as a day and night passed, clouds covered the setting sun, and the night sky took away all the light, Ian’s prophecies were coming true one by one.
And at the summit of the Holy Mountain, a towering dark silhouette has been erected above the Sacrificial Flame.
The main body of the Ultra Giant Magnetic Storm Coil has been completed.
Not far in the mountains, thick dust billows in a magnificent movement.
Just as the prophecy foretold — the enemies from beyond the distant mountains, the Constructed Knights from Fiery Flame Land, have arrived.
