Above The Sky
Chapter 83 - 83 79 Victory

83: Chapter 79: Victory 83: Chapter 79: Victory “A perfect opportunity!”

Viscount Grant, who had been suppressing the crocodragon from mid-air, had this thought flash through his mind.

He gripped his sword with both hands as vast amounts of steam surged from the openings of his Aether Arms Armor, and his Furnace Core on his back pressurized and hummed deeply.

As tremendous steam gathered, a white high-pressure water blade formed on the Crystal Sword, stretching several meters and vibrating rapidly.

With a screeching tear through the air, the viscount swung his sword, and the water blade shot straight towards the crocodragon’s other flank—slicing through the rain curtain so quickly that all the floating debris and wood fragments between them shattered at its passing.

Hisss!

Like the sound of an iron blade tearing through leather but a hundred times louder, a massive cut fiercely ripped across the crocodragon’s body.

A wave of orange-red blood burst forth as the already faltering creature let out another sharp cry of pain.

Its left leg, connected to its body, now exposed a ghastly white, showing a deep bone-deep wound!

“Good, we won!”

Ecstasy surged in Viscount Grant’s heart.

He already knew the outcome of the battle was decided, so even when he saw the crocodragon furiously lash its tail towards him, temporarily unable to move swiftly due to the Aether Armament’s overexertion, he didn’t panic.

Instead, he laughed out loud as the tail struck him, sending him crashing into the distant streets.

“We failed…”

At this moment, the Great Shaman struggled with all his might to suppress the crocodragon’s pain and anger and the intense, overwhelming fear that almost made it turn and flee immediately.

The old man, who had merged his consciousness with that of the crocodragon, felt as heavy as water, “Destiny?

Could someone really hit an old wound with a cannonball?”

Even in a deadly predicament, the Great Shaman was not panicked.

He had lived long enough, and death was not enough to shake him, “The old wound extends deep into the viscera, and the left middle foot is nearly immobile.

Even with the children’s protection, it’s impossible to return the way we came.”

The elder raised his head, looking out towards the surging waves of the ocean, “The tide and the Drum Wave Spirit have not come so far.

Have they encountered trouble, or was the sacrificial rite insufficient?

Never mind, this is the only way out.”

But just as the Great Shaman resolved to detach himself, preparing to escape, a deep and vast, yet somewhat chaotic will entered his mind: [——Kill!]

[Life, plunder, recovery…Kill!]

“Stay calm.”

The Great Shaman sighed.

He knew that was the crocodragon’s will, and that he too would become a part of this scattered, aimless will in the future.

But for now, he still had overwhelming control, “Let’s go, Mountain Master.

We have failed again.”

“But as long as you can retreat to Ivorybone Mountain, we will still have a chance…

The Great Shaman was well aware that if he didn’t retreat, even in his currently heavily injured state, he could easily destroy half of Harrison Port.

Even if he let go and let the crocodragon’s frenzy loose, it could kill thousands before it died.

But what was the point?

He still had successors, but the Mountain Master did not.

Once Viscount Grant caught his breath, there would be no chance to run.

The Great Shaman soothed the crocodragon and imposed his will upon it.

Instantly, the behemoth, which had been crying out incessantly, suddenly stopped all its instinctive reactions.

In an instant, the behemoth lunged mechanically, steadily, as if unfamiliar with its own body, but exceedingly swiftly, towards the nearby seas of Harrison Port!

Mud from within the earth flowed wildly, causing the houses on either side of the Crocodragon to shake and topple like grass in a fierce wind, collapsing into ruins and clearing a path for the behemoth to make its escape.

But beyond that, it did nothing else.

Even though the tower that had fired the cannonball, reversing the tide of battle and inflicting heavy damage on it, was not far away, the Crocodragon did not even consider changing its trajectory for revenge.

With a determination and unstoppable force, it plunged headfirst into the sea, churning the waters.

Bright orange-red blood spread in the sea, extending all the way to the distance.

“…Huh?”

Ian, who was already prepared for the third shot, waiting for the Crocodragon to come for revenge and then to blast its head at the second ‘weak point,’ was slightly taken aback.

It was hard for him to imagine that an enraged beast would forego revenge—in theory, when encountering an enemy that could be easily retaliated against while trying to escape, surely it would take the chance to fling its foe aside, right?

Unexpectedly, the opponent was rational to such a degree, not even indulging in a petty jab.

Truly, it was formidable.

“Alright, at least we won.”

Ian didn’t feel regretful.

Not having to risk his life fighting the Crocodragon was a good thing.

He turned to Scott, who was still in shock and hardly able to believe they could really alter the battlefield together, and said, “The tower is about to collapse, let’s go.”

The foundations of Harrison Port had been solid, but with the Crocodragon’s earth-shaking power, the firm bedrock had cracked and the solid layers of earth had turned to mud.

The entire Harrison Port was like a stroke of ocher ink drawn diagonally by a reckless painter, the mark spreading wherever it passed, creating rampant destruction.

The foundation of this tower was naturally within the affected area.

According to Ian’s estimation, the entire topography of Harrison Port had probably changed, and one-third of the city would need to be rebuilt…

But on the other hand, just the elite natives lost in the city alone would take the Redwood Forest Tribes more than a decade to recover from, not to mention the possibility of an external battlefield.

“There’s no time, jump out the window.”

Ian had already sensed the tilt of the tower accelerating.

Although it looked stable for now, it would collapse in no more than ten seconds.

The boy didn’t hesitate; after ensuring that the area below was already flooded with water and mud, he immediately kicked the still dazed and incredulous Scott out of the window and then leapt out himself, plunging into the muddy water.

Scott landed miserably, swallowing several mouthfuls of mud, and took a good while to faintly get up and crawl to the side to catch his breath, while Ian simply rolled over and easily dispersed the impact.

At the same time, the tower behind him collapsed as expected, and there was a low rumble of an explosion, likely caused by the gunpowder in the base being ignited by the residual heat from the cannon.

Honestly, Ian’s first feeling wasn’t the lightness or joy of having repelled a formidable enemy, but the sensation that he was about to be swept away.

“This wind is too strong!”

The windproof cape was close to failing, and Ian had to grasp tightly onto a protruded rock on the ground to barely ensure he wasn’t blown away by the strong wind.

He looked up at the sky and saw purple lightning crisscrossing, with several bolts striking down each second.

The visibly swirling raincloud tornado was slowly moving towards the southwest Bison Mountain Range.

While it released countless flashes of electricity, it also collapsed into a torrential downpour.

Meanwhile, the cloud pillar still rising from the tumultuous sea showed no sign of diminishing and was even expanding into a cliff wall of cloud and fog that connected heaven and sea.

The rainclouds shattered as they collided with the mountain range, slightly reducing the wind force, but the downpour became even more intense.

If previously it was just a downpour, now it seemed as if the entire sky had turned into a waterfall.

The great storm had just begun…
