Isn’t one squad a bit too few?]

Ian had already contacted Viscount Grant before heading back to South Ridge to request a group of men to escort the caravan he was sending to Leyan Territory.

The Viscount wasn’t a fool; he had long noticed the relationship between Scott and Ian, so he took advantage of the situation and sent his own trusted people that Ian had trained.

However, the Hillsman rebellion had occurred just one week ago, and the originally planned manpower was definitely not enough, so the Viscount wondered if he should send some more men.

It was quite normal for nobles to lend troops to each other, and it wasn’t considered a big deal.

Although Ian wasn’t a noble yet, he had already reached the Second Energy Level – it was only a matter of time.

“No need, my lord, I have it all figured out.”

Ian had a plan in mind; the thirty-man White Folks squad he had asked Elder Prude to select was comprised of young, energetic, trustworthy warriors who were eager to make a name for themselves.

More would not be necessary, and less loyalty would be undesirable: “However, you also know that the situation in Leyan Territory is complex.

In the future, we might need to transfer the Green Tide over.

I need a Sublimator as my deputy to handle certain matters.”

[He is your man, he will listen to you]

Viscount Grant felt a bit regretful because the Green Tide had recently improved the average martial skill level of Harrison Port’s Guard Squad significantly as their swordsmanship instructor — Ian’s eye for talent was certainly no joke; the people he favored indeed had something special.

But the man in question was a loner loyal only to Ian.

As for Elder Prude, he sent Ian a location and told him that after Ian had dealt with the territory matters, he would send Ian a package containing all the clues he had found over the recent years.

When Ian heard the location, situated in the ancestral woods behind the former stronghold of the Redwood Natives, Ivorybone Mountain, he had some realization and knew it might be related to the “Foreseeing Bifoliate” in the “Great Redwood Forest Sea.”

It seemed that Elder Prude had indeed always been searching for this artifact that could potentially enhance Ian’s Spirit Energy.

[Do we need to wait for the Green Tide to arrive before we take action?]

This was Elder Prude’s suggestion.

Although he believed in Ian’s strength, he also thought it was difficult to fend off numerous attackers with only two fists.

The Leyan Territory was strategically important, and there were likely a large number of hidden agents from both the Hillsman Knights and Fiery Flame Land, so while there probably wouldn’t be multiple individuals at the Second Energy Level, there would certainly be many Sublimators.

“Wait?

There’s no need to wait.”

Ian smiled and turned his head, peering through the window of the Governor’s Mansion at the guard moat of the Upper City District that was stirred by the brisk autumn wind.

As autumn deepened and winter approached, the air grew heavy with an atmosphere of sternness.

The youth calmly said, “My Armor Suit will arrive tomorrow.”

“When Scott and the clan’s warriors arrive, it will be the first step toward our family’s revival.”

[…Yes, the first step]

After the communication device shut off, Elder Prude took a deep breath.

The old man suddenly realized he was somewhat trembling.

How many years had it been…

after noticing Ian’s talent, he had been filled with hope and had been waiting for eight years.

Now…

finally.

The first step was about to be taken.

[Then everything is up to you,] said the Elder in a low but gratified tone: [Remember, your safety is of utmost importance.]

“I understand.”

The rising morning sun illuminated the entire Agate Stone Plains and Nauman City, also causing a thick morning fog to rise from the damp plain roads.

A gentle breeze swirled the white fog while a neat caravan made its way toward Nauman City, with several cavalries patrolling around it.

The Camel Beast Caravan was the most common and safest means of transportation in South Ridge, and even if you brought a flying vehicle from the Imperial Capital, it wouldn’t be of much use here.

Not to mention, Nauman City doesn’t sell civilian Elemental Crystals.

With his deep brown hair, Scott served as the leader of the caravan, and to be honest, seemed somewhat out of place among his own team members.

It wasn’t that his subordinates disobeyed his commands, quite the opposite; they were well-trained, skilled, and nearly absolute in obedience—as long as they could understand what the command was all about.

The real reason for the mismatch was the fact that Scott was an Iron Folk while his subordinates were all White Folks, and there was somewhat of a clash of colors.

Next to his team members, he stood out like a black dot in the snow, and even his healthy wheatish complexion seemed somewhat of an anomaly.

But this was an inevitable consequence of the decision to follow Ian.

Scott turned his head, looking at his team members.

These young White Folks were the excellent seeds handpicked by Elder Prude from their youth.

In the past, some of them joined the guard squad as part of Harrison Port’s defense force, while others would protect the White Folks’ commerce guild and gain experience in the outside world.

However, ever since Ian had displayed his talent, Elder Prude had been cultivating an elite team to serve as Ian’s foundation for the future.

They were loyal to the clan and to Ian because from the moment eight years ago, Elder Prude had made it clear to them that all the favorable treatment they received, whether in food, education, or resources, was for the fight for the clan’s revival and to become the strength of that Spirit Energy User of the White Folks.

And now, although it came several years earlier than expected, it was time.

They were eager, ready to make their mark under their future leader’s command.
