Above The Sky -
Chapter 700 - 700 Ending The Path Straight into the Future
700: Ending: The Path Straight into the Future 700: Ending: The Path Straight into the Future For those living in the Lower City District and Central Urban District of the Imperial Capital, the ordinary people would find the Upper City District, an area that often left them breathless and dizzy, an unattainable forbidden zone.
Only the Sublimators, those truly significant figures, could freely walk the area entirely enveloped by the force field of the Imperial Capital.
Unknown to many, above the Upper City, there was yet another Above City.
Above that Upper City District, where even the mystical phenomena of Fourth Energy Level powerhouses could be suppressed, there stood a steep Solitary Mountain.
A force field made of steel and the unknown structures of living beings formed a volcano-like mouth, from which an invisible shield soared into the firmament, sheltering the entire Central Plains Region centered around the Imperial Capital.
Surrounding the origin of the force field was a huge Ironrock Palace, perched on the edge, but by its shape, it was more a high platform than a palace.
From atop this platform, one could overlook the entire Central Plains, and behind it was the beam of light from the Imperial Capital’s force field, piercing the void.
If His Majesty had not disappeared on his secretive and mysterious mission, he would have spent most of his time here.
The palace in the Upper City District was merely his office; he never lingered there for long.
He even felt some aversion to that over-ordinary palace.
Michael ascended the platform step by step.
The material of the high platform was neither metal nor rock but had the qualities of a living being, yet as hard as iron.
Its surface was covered with a flowing light liquid, pure white and without a single impurity.
The light liquid covering the platform seemed uniform but was actually composed of countless independent light bands that continuously intertwined and wriggled up and down as if constructing an extremely complex model.
At the center of each light band, there was a luminous orb spinning like a human pupil, staring in the direction where Michael stood.
In the center of the light liquid, at the top of the platform, stood a tall and burly figure, gazing solemnly at the firmament alone.
Perched upon the second sun in the sky, seated at the peak of Scorching Light, the Emperor of the Central Empire, Protector Axel.
And…
the son of the Black Tyrant, the greatest inheritor of Inega II’s legacy, the Tyrant of the Yi Tribe.
Michael gazed at his father’s back, quite aware that compared to his grandfather’s Tyrant title, his father was the true meaning of a Tyrant, one who slaughtered without mercy.
In his grandfather’s life, even when dealing with great enemies and rebels, he would only execute the individuals and banish their families.
When the old Duke of Sorin plotted a rebellion, he merely executed the leader, even taking the current Duke Sorin, Split, as his disciple, with the promise, “If this nation dissatisfies you, you are free to choose the path of independence again.”
However, his father, not counting the siblings he executed during his succession, simply in the aftermath of his ascension, exterminated the Noble Clans, those who thought they could gain more benefits from the new emperor, far outnumbered his grandfather’s.
The only difference was that his father corrected his grandfather’s soft-hearted weakness; if he decided to kill, he wiped them out entirely, leaving not even a single survivor behind.
Thus, there would be no one to declare his father’s ruthlessness years later.
Those annihilated Nobles were completely forgotten, leaving only a brief mention in the history books.
As for the inheritors of the legacy, it was just the same.
The Empire’s laws and regulations seemed to have undergone significant changes, but in practice, there was little difference from his grandfather’s era, except for a touch of Axel’s characteristics.
This was the key for the Empire to once again gradually prosper.
Axel paid no attention to the person approaching from behind.
Next to him flowed clusters of gold and white light particles, mist-like, which twirled, danced, and then coalesced into human forms.
The translucent figures bowed humbly to their father and reported on various matters and intelligence.
One of the figures was very familiar to Michael—it was none other than Chancellor Moze of the Spirit Wisdom Institute.
“So you’re saying, theoretically, it’s feasible?” Michael heard his father say.
“Yes, Your Majesty.” Chancellor Moze bowed, answering earnestly, “But the people of the Empire need an enemy to unite as one.
Just Fiery Flame Land is not enough.”
“The Empire has never truly become one in essence; we have too many different races and regional customs within us.
Culture and ethnicity can’t serve as the bridge to unite us.
Apart from having the same Imperial Emperor and all looking up to the same sun, we were never a whole.”
Chancellor Moze said things that Michael found hard to understand.
Knowing that the Prince was nearby, he spoke unabashed, “We need an enemy that is more distinctive, more substantial, and more powerful…
without it, we can’t reach a consensus.”
“So living beings are still somewhat difficult, huh?
No wonder Sorin insists on causing death.” The Emperor murmured, raising his hand to signal Michael to sit aside, “A disaster should suffice, right?
That one from the Prophecy of the Hall of Ten Thousand Spirits.”
The Emperor’s voice was indifferent, with a trace of fatigue, “Or should we add the Azure Sky Royal Court as well?
It’s not impossible to fight on two fronts.”
“No, Your Majesty,”
Chancellor Moze shook his head, “The hatred for Fiery Flame Land and the hatred for Azure Sky Royal Court are held by different groups; they cannot unite.
The Calamity of Light foretold by the Prophecy of Ten Thousand Spirits holds potential, but it’s a disaster for the entire continent.
The people of the Empire won’t feel they are special.”
