(3/3) 600: Chapter 569: Attacking Friendly Forces!

(3/3) The Avak Central Research Laboratory campus consisted of several “Hui” character-shaped buildings, with a large botanical garden at the front, where numerous Sublimation Plants and Spirit Energy Plants were planted, forming a harmonious mini-ecosystem.

However, in the Subspace created by the Silent Abyss, those plants had all vanished.

The spacious courtyard was filled only with huge carcasses and pitch-black spikes protruding suddenly from the ground, a terrifying and ferocious sight.

Subspace, as the name implies, is a unique space-time situated between the Domain of Void and the real world.

It adheres to the principles of both realms but can undergo massive changes due to various conditions.

Many creatures of the Domain of Void are enhanced here, and certain special inheritances can even artificially create Subspaces, creating their own “Mind Resonance Spacetime.”

But the Subspace of this Central Research Laboratory had obviously turned into a “Labyrinth.”

It was filled with Magical Beasts and Phantasms, various hideous ghosts roamed here, uttering either angry or despondent wails.

When Ian opened the great door, completing the “ritual,” and stepped from reality into Subspace, he didn’t appear just behind the door, instead arriving at an unknown location, presumably having been randomly transported.

He had long been prepared, so even upon opening his eyes to see a large group of Magical Beasts and Phantasms charging toward his face, he wasn’t the least bit surprised.

The entrance led directly to the open-air ecological garden, where many red, skinless humanoid monsters, all muscle, clung to the enormous carcasses.

There were also distorted and crazed Phantasms; originally sitting or standing, they numbered over thirty and seemed relatively harmonious.

But upon Ian’s arrival, the dazzling blue soul light shone like the sun, illuminating the dark and drab Subspace of only red and black, drawing every creature’s gaze upon him.

So, he drew his sword.

——Here, no one was watching over him, restricting him from using his power.

Here, he could display his true strength.

Thud.

Among the courtyard’s Magical Beasts, the leader appeared to be a simple-looking Demihuman Phantasm, whose spirit companion was an “ostrich,” with straight, strong legs full of firm muscles.

A sweep of her leg sent a massive stone, weighing several tons, flying toward Ian with a direct smash.

Typically, if one could send a several-ton stone flying, they also had the strength to shatter it, but this Demihuman Phantasm’s control over her strength was extremely exquisite.

She kicked the stone over a meter high into the air, causing it to roll nonstop, aiming straight for Ian, even with a deadly spinning force.

The stone’s impact was enough to tip over a war vehicle.

Not even an alchemical cannon would have such force.

Had it been Ian using only his Fairy Heritage, faced with an attack combining brute force and finesse, he would have had no choice but to dodge.

He was fundamentally a long-range attacker and a sneak-attack swordsman in his Fairy Bloodline form, best at using various alchemical potions and a charged water gun for ranged combat.

But now…

Ian held the sword in one hand, not even raising the blade vertically but striking horizontally with the back of his sword against the giant rock.

Crack!

The massive stone, which could have smashed and overturned a vehicle, broke into pieces under the unsophisticated force of the sword’s horizontal strike, an unbelievable power that even completely neutralized the Demihuman Phantasm’s, and in turn, turned the stone’s fragments into a wide-range shotgun blast.

Instantly, starting from the Iron Pattern Sword, a cone-shaped impact area formed as the shattered rubble flew at supersonic speeds, disintegrating into finer, but more widespread, debris, knocking down the horde of Magical Beasts and Phantasms rushing toward Ian.

But those creatures were the weakest bunch.

A few figures burst out from behind these Phantasms, tearing through the air, creating visible shockwaves like tidal waves in their wake.

One was a modified Exobeast “Electric Attack Swallow” and a Phantasm of the White Folks, both brushing the lower limit of the Second Energy Level.

Their bodies tore through the air, converging on Ian from the left, right, and center in a triangular formation as if to force him back.

But why would Ian retreat?

He advanced a step, and the outer layers of his Entangling Void Armor lit up with layers of substance-like Silver Scale Firm Armor, and at the center of his chest, a ‘✻’ light pattern illuminated with hexagonal grid lines.

Sixfold Purification.

Both the Iron Pattern Sword and the Armored Clothing were covered with a layer of unimaginably pure Earth Origin Quality.

With this high-grade Origin Quality and Ian’s own High-Efficacy Strengthening Weapon Potion, his longsword even spawned a Source Material Qi Blade about five meters in length.

This was no longer a longsword but a Warship-Cutting Greatsword!

Ian slightly bent his knees and swung the sword horizontally.

Instantly, the dreadful sword wind covered the three assailants, carrying an unbelievable might that could bisect an entire suit of Armor, bursting with a thunderous roar and sweeping out ahead of the courtyard!

This was an unstoppable strike.

In the instant the Warship-Cutting Greatsword swept through, even the senses-less Phantasms and Exobeasts revealed expressions of sheer disbelief, not intending to endure the blow and struggling with all their might to escape—The Electric Attack Swallow’s form shimmered, its body quivering with electricity as it attempted to dodge, while the White Folks Phantasm, seemingly a Knight, leaped high, willing to sacrifice his legs to avoid a fatal blow.

The Demihuman Phantasm screamed, the ground sunk under her feet, rocks shattered, and she propelled herself forward, hoping to knock down Ian before the greatsword’s sweep reached her.

But it was all in vain.

The Electric Attack Swallow tried to dodge, but the thick Earth Element Origin Quality disrupted its stability, causing it to crash to the ground, spattering blood everywhere.

The White Folks Knight tried to leap away, only to find that Ian’s sword was faster than imagined, and before he could react, he was cut down, his Phantasmal body instantly shattering.

As for the Demihuman phantasm, the decision was the only right one, it faced Ian’s attack head-on, and managed to land a solid kick on Ian’s forehead before getting sliced into pieces.

Then, it was the phantasm’s sturdy ankle that shattered instead.

— Fragile.

Fragile things were coming at him.

Ian didn’t even feel the desire to blink.

The hardness simply wasn’t on the same level.

And Ian was also very clear about why those three phantasms wanted to force him to retreat.

Therefore, after slashing out with that sword, he slightly tilted his head to let the Frost Butterfly on his shoulder act, condensing a small Ice Shield.

It was in that moment, a hand clutching a dark purple dagger emerged from the shadows, aiming for Ian’s neck.

But the Frost Butterfly had long been ready and blocked this surprise strike, causing the attacker to pause briefly in astonishment— and Ian took a fierce step back, jutting his shoulder, and colliding with the chin of the person behind him.

Right after that, he reached for the assailant’s elbow and twisted his body to perform a shoulder throw.

Crack!

Even though he intended to hold back, the attacker’s entire body was embedded in the ground by the force of Ian’s throw.

Ian was well aware that this wasn’t the end.

In the Foresight View, another light purple radiance was condensing, then bursting towards his chest.

Therefore, at the same time, Ian also threw out his Iron Pattern Sword.

The ultra-high purity Origin Quality brought by the Clear Source Crystal, along with the additional strengthening ability from the perfectly crafted Silver Scale Firm Armor, made this sturdy Sublimation Weapon now comparable to an armor-piercing bullet, shooting out at supersonic speed.

With an exquisite angle and observational skill, the Iron Pattern Sword directly shattered the dark arrow shot towards Ian’s chest in mid-air, then continued to pierce straight through the hidden archer behind the corpse, lifting the body into the air and embedding it in the wall of the nearby experimental building, the body shaking uncontrollably, dying very uneasily.

“How is that possible…”

The attacker Ian had just thrown to the ground managed to rise, only to witness such a scene, he incredulously widened his eyes, his face full of shock.

Although they had anticipated that anyone who dared to enter the Subspace Labyrinth directly would have some special tricks…

but they were controlling the phantasm exobeasts and added on the ambush with Second Energy Level Sublimation Weapons, as long as it wasn’t a Great Knight, how could such an attack not succeed in killing him?

But could this Knight in front of them really manage to defeat five of their experts within a few breaths?!

— What was his origin?

“From Spirit Wisdom Institute?”

Ian, however, didn’t pay much attention to their thoughts, he stretched out his hand and grabbed the sole survivor, also a laboratory worker with a modicum of self-awareness, by the head: “Tell me, where is the Central Control Room of the laboratory, and where are the soul storage facilities?”

“Are you an Inspector Knight?” It was at this moment that the attacker noticed the badge on Ian’s chest.

After a moment of stunned joy, he exclaimed, “It was all a misunderstanding just now, we are allies…”

As he spoke, his hands stealthily reached behind him, as if trying to press some button.

“I’m sorry.”

Ian said, “It’s allies that I’m hitting.”

Snap.

He crushed the assailant’s skull before him, much like a regular person smashing a watermelon, with blood splattering everywhere.

Behind the helmet, Ian’s silvery-green eyes lit up, he surveyed the entire courtyard, and then looked in a certain direction.

Towards that direction, the Prophet revealed a cold smile, “It doesn’t matter whether you answer or not.”

“I’ve already found it.”
