269: Chapter 256 The Origin of the Primal Fairy (2/3) 269: Chapter 256 The Origin of the Primal Fairy (2/3) The biting cold assailed him as the Ancient Dragon Heart Core vibrated, rousing Ian from his shock.
Above his head, the Primitive Frost Fairy, reminiscent of a frost butterfly, revolved around the young man’s head as if celebrating the completion of its task.
“…You did really well, if shocking me was your goal, then you’ve certainly accomplished it.”
After taking several deep breaths to calm himself, Ian smiled and nodded at the Frost Fairy floating in front of him, lifting his head while it fluttered around to continue looking at the iceberg before him.

While scanning with the silver chip, Ian observed the two mountain-like behemoths and alien insects very carefully.
The Frost Crystal Dragon, as another variant Labrador species of the Crystal Dragon, like its kin, had a pair of sharp foreclaws and hind limbs that had regressed more to resemble tail fins.
Its body was made of sharp crystal swords, and its entire body was covered with shiny, hard crystal scales.
Atop the Crystal Dragon’s head was a huge protrusion known as the “Crystal Horn,” which made its overall appearance like that of a sharp sword; the Crystal Horn served as the hilt while its dragon body and tail were like the continuously tapering blade.
Thus, the Crystal Dragon was also known as the “Crystal Sword Dragon,” but this nickname gradually faded after the discovery of Earth Series Crystal Dragons that resembled mallets and Fire Series Crystal Dragons that resembled whips.
The Frost-Seduction Moth appeared even more peculiar—at first glance, it looked like an enlarged version of those earlier frost moths, yet its wings weren’t like those of the frost moths, covered with fine fur.
On the contrary, its wings were like sharp blades, that, even when icebound, still twinkled with a piercing cold light in the dim glow of the Ice Abyss.
This colossal Frost-Seduction Moth was clearly the progenitor of those earlier moths and gave off an impression of solidity akin to a war machine, despite its thin, insect-like body structure that seemed wrought from metal.
Both creatures had very aggressive designs, like some kind of man-made war weapons, which they were indeed, embodying many functions of the previous era’s civilization, with warfare among them.
It was somewhat astonishing to Ian that two Fourth Level gigantic Magical Beasts lay dead before him—evidently, even from conjecture, it was apparent that this was due to the loss of control over the alien ecological park built in the relevant areas post-Calamity of Heavenly Fall, with the Crystal Dragon and moths engaging in battle for some reason and perishing together.
That Deep Sea Crystal Dragon was perhaps many generations removed from this Frost Crystal Dragon because Crystal Dragons were a lineage known for easily changing attributes, which wasn’t strange at all.
And as for the progeny of the Frost-Seduction Moths…
isn’t that obvious?
“Could it be…
the true purpose of those moths was?”
Thinking of the earlier squad of moths controlling the Ape Beasts to push forward, Ian raised his head, looking in the direction he came from, pondering, “Their goal is to reclaim the bodies of their ancestors…
or to achieve their true advancement?”
Ian spread his Fairy Wings and flew up into the heights of the Ice Abyss.
He looked into the distance and then he saw it.
At the mountain’s peak where the behemoth corpses were enclosed in ice, a pale blue vine emerged from the Crystal Dragon’s eyes and the heart of the moth, and atop the peak blossomed a pristine pon flower, resembling a lotus.
Many fine holes were in the pon flower, pulsing with a Spirit Energy Field that was nearly materialized.
The ice-blue vine constantly drew energy from the bodies of the Crystal Dragon and moth, also drawing energy from the Ice Abyss to feed back to the corpses, forming an organic entity—many shimmering points of light emerged from the holes in the pon flower and were given shape by the frost.
In an instant, hundreds of ‘Primal Fairies’ were born.
With their birth, the snowstorm grew even more intense.
The Spirit Energy Field was, frankly, a kind of unique energy circulation structure, mostly generated by the natural Spirit Energy rotation of planets, but the death of sufficiently powerful creatures, in conjunction with peculiar natural conditions, could also create long-lasting and even permanent Spirit Energy Field variations.
Although the Ruins of Ice Abyss were not a natural phenomenon but the cooling system of a civilization from a bygone era, such a creation of a civilization near to stellar in its advancement could surpass nature.
Under its influence, the corpses of two Fourth Level super creatures in this place formed a peculiar Spirit Energy Field that incessantly drew in Natural Spirit Energy from the surroundings.
Within this field, the corpses, though dead but not decaying, even gave rise to various ecological circles that constituted the rudimentary structure of a labyrinth.
Yes, the icebergs here, in Ian’s view, already met the standards of a small labyrinth in its embryonic form—this was a small labyrinth nestled within the Great Labyrinth of the Southern Sea Ruins, like the smaller challenge rooms inside a larger dungeon, complete with its own unique ecosystem.
The pon flowers that bloomed from the ice-blue vines were the place where the Primal Frost Fairies, the origin form of the Fae race, were born.
Perhaps in the ancient past, the origin of the True Fairies was similar, with special Spirit Energy plants in special Spirit Energy Fields bestowing physical form, which then gradually evolved into higher intelligent beings.
Ian gazed at the fairy lights emerging from the pon flowers, watching as they spun and soared in the chill wind, gathering the frost filled with vast amounts of Natural Spirit Energy and Contained Primordial Essence to form their bodies, and then flying toward a specific direction.
Following the direction of the lights’ flight, the youth saw that apart from the direction where their position was, many other places throughout the Ice Abyss were embroiled in battle.
Frost mingled with ice winds, the twinkling points of light clashed with moths drifting in the air, and frost blades and ice cones cut and pierced through each other.
The incessant and unending battles between the Primal Fairies and the Moths almost seemed eternal—the Primal Fairies occupied the ‘Land of Origins’, replenished by the pon flora, Crystal Dragon corpses and Moth bodies, while the Moths were not to be outdone.
They plundered resources from various places within the South Sea Relic Cluster and besieged the Land of Origins in the Ice Abyss.
These Moths, originally designed as biological weapons, even raised a group of Ape Beasts as a ‘supply’ unit to combat the Primal Fairies, replenished by the Land of Origins.
At this moment, Ian fully understood.
Although the pon flowers that birthed the Primal Fairies drew Contained Primordial Essence from the bodies of two distinct creatures, in essence, they were more akin to Crystal Dragons.
As for the Moths, needless to say, they were the descendants of Frost-Seduction Moths.
Their war was the continuation of the battle between Crystal Dragons and Frost-Seduction Moths!
This was a war that, even hundreds or nearly a thousand years after death, hadn’t wavered or retreated an inch!
A war that persists to this day!
“I have the Ancient Dragon Heart Core within me, and also Fairy Bloodline, no wonder these Primal Fairies sensed the aura of my battle and sought me out.”
Ian descended back to the ground slowly.
Based on his earlier observation, he had already made out several entrances and exits in the Ice Abyss.
As for the safety of the people at the position, he was no longer concerned—the fact that the Primal Fairies could find him meant that their main force had already reached that area, and the moths’ real enemies were these Primal Fairies.
Engrossed in their own battle, the humans had nothing to do with it.
They could take this opportunity to quickly find a way out and leave the icy plains.
But the problem lied in the slight movement of the Ancient Dragon Heart Core at the center of Ian’s chest…
The Frost-Seduction Moths were a given, but the Frost Crystal Dragon’s corpse had become the homeland of the Primal Fairies.
Setting aside that he couldn’t use this Frost Dragon material, if he truly wished to take it, it seemed likely he’d have to fight these increasingly friendly Little Fairies.
Although Ian was confident, he wasn’t foolish enough to think he could survive being mobbed by hundreds or thousands of Primal Fairies.
Even if he could escape, what would be the point?
Rather than making such a decision with much to lose and little to gain, he was more interested in seeing if he could find an opportunity to nurture this group of fairies…
The troubling part was, he definitely had to reactivate the cooling cycle System, so what would become of these fairies?
“They might transform into Water Fairies.
After all, fairies as a lifeform are much more resilient than most humans.”
Thinking this, Ian observed the Crystal Dragon corpse before him closely, but without greed.
After all, the slight movement of the Ancient Dragon Heart Core wasn’t aimed at the Crystal Dragon’s corpse but rather deep within the Ruins, at some entity in a far distant place.
The Crystal Dragon’s corpse was merely a medium; it once harbored that entity, but now it’s gone…
The Frost-Seduction Moths likely fought the Frost Crystal Dragon over that very thing, resulting in a battle that almost ended in mutual destruction.
With that said…
“That Deep Sea Crystal Dragon!
That Dragon’s Chant!”
Ian looked up, recalling the sound of the furious Dragon’s Chant he faintly heard when he first arrived at the Ice Abyss!
Although he didn’t know why the other was so angry, it was enough to prove a relation between the two.
The Primal Frost Fairies could be considered a joint product of Crystal Dragons and Moths, most closely aligned with Crystal Dragons…
but the true offspring of the Crystal Dragons was likely that Deep Sea Crystal Dragon!
If there was anything in the South Sea Relic Cluster that could cause the Ancient Dragon Heart Core to resonate, then this entity was highly likely to be on that Deep Sea Crystal Dragon!
