Eight Ape Beasts that tried to leap over the Swordsman were neatly bisected, while the two Moths that had shot out Ice Cones also broke mid-flight, their insides spilling as they plummeted—Wave Scouts slashing such long-distance lethal sword qi even when not at sea was unheard of; this was no longer the strength of the High Rank of the First Energy Level, but power nearing the pinnacle!
Among all those present, no one could compare to Green Tide’s strength.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The sound of the cannons resumed their howling as, led by Green Tide, a large number of Moths converged and attacked him.
Thus, they also became the targets of continued cannon fire—over twenty Adult Frost Moths were shattered by the cannons, turning into a sky full of goo and debris.
It was a significant victory—but everyone knew it was merely utilizing the fleet’s power to gather strength.
These creatures were designed to die and then metamorphose using the dead of their kin for sustenance.
Once enough Moths completed their transformation, no matter how fierce the cannon fire, they would be overwhelmed by these creatures.
All could see this, but in desperation, they could only reload their dwindling ammunition and arrange for the heavily-hit Green Tide to be brought back behind their lines.
“Swordsman, you’re too strong!
If not for you risking drawing those big flapping moths together, we’d have been frozen by the blizzards they stirred up!”
The speaker was an Elf Pirate hailing from Nai’an, his accent tinged with that of the Azure Sky Royal Court—having fought several battles alongside him, this group of pirates was completely convinced of Green Tide’s competence.
It was also Green Tide himself who proposed the plan to use himself as bait to annihilate those truly dangerous Moths in one fell swoop.
“Tsk… there still aren’t enough of them.
Previously there were over fifty Frost Moths, and only two-fifths have been eliminated…”
En route to being settled elsewhere after being carried back, Green Tide spat out a mouthful of blood, still somewhat dissatisfied, “If only we could have killed a few more.”
After a pause to catch his breath, Green Tide spoke softly, “While the Frost Moth numbers have dwindled, you should escape now… We can’t hold this position any longer… The people who went to look for an exit haven’t returned.
We don’t know if they’ve escaped or just haven’t found it.
We can’t wait anymore…”
“Leave me here.
I can still fight for a while and hold back some creatures… If I survive, just send my family some money.”
Both pirates and the crew of the survey ship remained silent…
Green Tide could see the truth; how could they not?
But such reality was too hopeless, and they had no idea where to go after abandoning their position.
“There must be a way.” They could only keep repeating this.
Meanwhile, Green Tide closed his eyes, slowly regaining his strength.
Until he heard a sound tearing through the air, a whistling that was not from a cannonball descending from the sky.
Opening his eyes, the Swordsman saw a streak of pale green light flash across the sky—an ethereal silhouette wielding an Iron Sword, with a turquoise wave of Phantom Shape following the surge of Origin Quality, tracing an arc through the air.
“This is…”
Suddenly, he widened his eyes, incredulously watching Ian, alone with his sword, cutting into the Swarm with a wave-like sword light.
“Is that, the Wavebreaker Sword?!”
Green Tide saw Ian’s sword sweep out, Fairy Wings’ power stirring up the frosty wind, transforming into a giant wave amidst the frozen earth.
Wherever the sword light passed, Ape Beasts were cleaved apart with blood scattering, and Demon Bug guts splashed in all directions.
It was as though a sword light that could divide the great ocean itself had emerged from the Ice Abyss, but here the ‘ocean’ was not made of real tides but a Swarm of Demon Bugs and Aberrant Beasts.
With that turquoise sword light at its center, the creatures scattered, not out of fear, but displaced by the force of Ian’s power.
Even so, because Ian’s speed was so incredible, at times it seemed as though he had passed through the horde long ago, with the spray of blood and guts exploding into the air only after his passing.
The ranks of the aberrant ape-beasts immediately showed a gap, and the moths in the sky took the initiative to turn their heads and retreat—they gave up on this wave of assault, preparing to gather strength for another attack.
The monster horde was retreating.
And the young man sheathed his sword, turned around, and walked toward the stronghold—the surviving crew of the exploratory ship cheered exuberantly, the pirates wore complex expressions but a few also clapped and celebrated.
It wasn’t long before Ian approached Green Tide.
“Thanks to you, otherwise, none of those present here would have survived.”
He reached out and pressed on the other’s frost-hardened wound, infusing it with Water Element Origin Quality.
The injury started to heal gradually—yet due to the ice cone that had pierced his organs, the swordsman was still in a critical state.
“I did it for myself.”
Because the pain from his healing wound was more intense than before, the swordsman took a sharp breath of cold air, realizing that his life was slipping away even more clearly.
Green Tide raised his head and met Ian’s gaze, managing a bitter smile as he lifted his hand with the tightly gripped longsword raised: “That last strike… was truly tremendous.”
“I’m done for, this sword… I’ll give it to you… If you make it back alive, remember to ask the Ellen Family for some extra compensation for me…”
“Already starting to take care of your last wishes?”
But Ian just looked at the swordsman with an affectionate pity, then shook his head: “Have you forgotten that I am an alchemist, and that the Ellen Family’s business is selling potions?”
“You’re going to live, no more talk, if you want money, you can go home and ask for it.”
He took out a syringe filled with Regeneration Potion from his waist bag and handed it to the stunned Seaborn Swordsman: “After the injection, rest up well.
The newly regenerated organs will be a bit fragile, but strong enough for you to leverage the strength of the First Power Level.”
As the young man spoke, he stood up and praised from the bottom of his heart: “That sword qi just now was very impressive.
I could not bring forth such power—don’t be fooled by the strength of my last blow, it mainly depended on the inheritance and the quality of the weapon.”
“Don’t underestimate yourself.
You are really strong.
You won’t die here.”
Green Tide didn’t catch what Ian said toward the end.
Because he was just staring blankly at the potion in his hand.
An elite level potion worth two or three hundred Talle, capable of regenerating organs, the Regeneration Potion.
If only his father had such a potion back then… no, even just half a bottle.
If he had just half a bottle, he wouldn’t have died, and he could have even healed all the hidden injuries… there was no need for him to retire; he wouldn’t have to pay off those medical expenses by becoming an adventurer, plunging into life and death situations to earn such dangerously blood-stained money.
A glorious conflict across the three seas, offering not a silver to settle the old soldiers’ blood, but from an adventure born of a petty murder among noble kin, such a potion comes so easily.
Holding the Regeneration Potion, Green Tide wanted to cry but the cold wind kept the tears from flowing.
“Haha…
Hahahaha!!!”
Facing such an ironic fate, the man laughed and cried, unable to control his emotions.
