Chapter 1203: Chapter 183 Magical Beasts Know Martial Arts (5800)
In various places within the Twilight Sanctuary, crimson flames flickered, accompanied by thick black smoke.
Amidst ceaseless beastly roars and Dragon’s Chants, countless Mechanically Modified Magical Beasts swarmed out from the third-level elevator. They varied in size and appearance, but the one common feature was their visibly metal-modified brains, controlled by the system of the ruins.
Pterosaurs with wings breathing fire; Giant Insects with heavy shells yet incredibly agile; and Yellow Giant Rats electrically charged and moving swiftly…
Although they didn’t look very draconic, they undoubtedly possessed Dragon Blood. It was precisely because of the Dragon Blood’s formidable adaptability and Vitality that these animals, originally just Ordinary wild beasts, could endure modifications and transform into these bizarre beast forms.
These creatures now had blood-red eyes, clearly in a state of Frenzy. The Steel structures atop their heads enabled these less intelligent modified Exobeasts to distinguish friend from foe. Consequently, upon appearing, they charged towards the Exploration Teams distributed throughout the sanctuary with utmost speed.
“Why are there so many?!”
To the north of the sanctuary, the team members gathered around the Exploration Teams from The Empire and Azure Sky Court looked grim. Although they had anticipated many Dragon Beasts in these ruins, the sheer number, ranging from dozens to hundreds, was beyond imagination. Moreover, these Exobeasts were quite formidable, with the leading ones strong enough to pose a severe threat to even the Sublimators!
“The Exotic Species Research Institute was the largest Biological Laboratory of the prior era civilization. It seems the internal modification instruments lost control, which is why there are so many Exobeasts!” some knowledgeable team members analyzed, “Some of these Exobeasts appear to have been modified recently, indicating that those ancient modification instruments are still functioning… they are priceless treasures!”
“With Terra’s tense situation, nations are preparing for war, and this technology to transform wild beasts into combat tools is exactly what all countries desire. If we successfully acquire it, the monetary rewards would be immense!”
Upon hearing this, the Exploration Team members, initially stunned by the Mystical Phenomena, were invigorated. If the young heroes were here to broaden their horizons, engage in combat, and prepare for establishing a foundation for the Third Energy Level while exploring the ruins, then these Ordinary people were naturally here to discover wonders and earn rewards—danger was a forecasted variable. As long as there are interests involved, never mind Beasts, they would even slay Dragons for you!
“Form up! Any team willing to cooperate can join us in jointly resisting the enemy beasts!”
Aina Sertar, Imperial Grand Prince, a handsome youth with a golden ponytail, led by example. He led The Empire’s team, arranging a formation relying on a building’s ruins to prepare for the Exobeasts’ assault. Meanwhile, other Exploration Teams formed slightly loose formations around The Empire’s, ready to face the challenge.
In front of them, the first wave of Exobeasts had already arrived.
Hundreds of modified Exobeasts of various sizes and postures, all exuding ferocious and bloodthirsty auras, roared forward, stirring a bloody gale. Even the collapsed structures and intact buildings along the sanctuary’s streets couldn’t obstruct their charge; everything was crushed and toppled under the beasts’ brute force.
The next moment, Alchemical Firearms simultaneously fired, the Terra Modern Firearms equipped by the Exploration Team unleashed and shattered the first batch of Exobeasts—yet surprisingly, it was only the initial twenty to thirty beasts, unlike the anticipated scenario of penetrating through several rows of Exobeasts.
“Wait, these Exobeasts’ skeletons… even their flesh and bones have been entirely modified!” An observant person noticed the abnormality in the corpses, exclaiming, “The beast swarm also includes Exobeasts at the Second Energy Level—there’s a monster, retreat quickly!”
But it was too late; a swift shadow suddenly leaped from the beast swarm attacking The Empire. It raced past, carrying terrifying wind blades, swiftly dismembering several Exploration Team members who hadn’t yet managed to form up… no.
A light saved them.
“What’s going on? There are Exobeasts at the Second Energy Level on the second floor, doesn’t that imply the third floor has Third Energy Level ones?!”
A flash of light erupted as Aina held his sword, and though he was still complaining in his heart, he blocked the Exobeast leader’s attack with utmost speed.
The Golden-haired Swordsman crossed a hundred meters in the blink of an eye and engaged the shadow twelve times in rapid succession. The clangor of metal clashes reverberated into a harmonious ring in the ears of the Ordinary, a melody—this was the Dragon’s Chant resulting from battles between Swordsman masters. Aina enjoyed this sound, for it was the reward for his diligent sword practice.
But this time was different. With one thrust, he forced the shadow back and finally saw its true form—a metallic mantis covered in silver and red metals. Its arms were not scythe-shaped but rather like long blades akin to human swords. Its striking yellow tetrachromatic eyes fixed on its opponent, it posed in an incredibly aggressive combat stance.
The Second Energy Level fluctuations, combined with its almost human-like stances, could easily mislead one into thinking it was a human Swordsman wielding double blades!
“It actually knows swordsmanship?” The Imperial Grandson was filled with astonishment. Although he knew he could easily defeat the opponent, sensing near-master-level swordsmanship in a human-sized Alien Insect mantis still left him incredulous, prompting him to loudly warn those around: “Beware! These Exobeasts might have Wisdom and could use swordsmanship and other skills!”
