Chapter 723: Chapter 321 Yuan Chen Palace, Little Yaksha_2
Its Demon Qi even eroded the barrier between the Yin Yang Two Realms, revealing the Mortal World.
Nearby, many Ghost Gods were waiting on the sidelines, seemingly ready to rush into the Mortal World as soon as this thing corroded the barrier.
Chen Shi looked around and saw several large tentacles emerging from the volcano, sweeping chaotically along the ground.
The tentacles were covered with mucus, and any little ghost touched by it could not escape and would be dragged into the volcano. Chewing noises and giggling laughter emanated from within the volcano.
"Making it through this great volcano, you might not make it out alive," Chen Shi thought to himself.
The Ghost Gods here seemed more powerful than those in other places, and even for a Yin Messenger like Chuan Gu, passing through this area could be a matter of life and death!
The Black Pot shrank to its limit, still four or five meters long, yet still too big for the stove.
But it couldn’t shrink any further.
Chen Shi took out some salt, and the Black Pot stood up by the stove, casting spells and muttering something unknown.
It grabbed the salt and tossed it into the stove, instantly igniting a green flame beneath it.
Chen Shi and Chuan Gu jumped onto the back of the Black Pot, Chen Shi holding Chuan Gu’s sturdy waist, Chuan Gu clutching the pot’s neck, and the Black Pot leaped into the fire below the stove, its enormous body starting to shrink rapidly as if swallowing a rainbow, getting sucked into the stove!
A few red-skinned little ghosts saw them disappear, daringly ran over, peered into the stove, and saw a black dog carrying two people running wildly in the fire!
The mischievous red-skinned ghosts picked up stones and threw them into the stove.
Suddenly, a three-pronged fork flew out from the fire, piercing one little ghost. The others shrieked and scattered, not daring to come any closer.
The three-pronged fork shook off the little ghost’s body and retracted back into the fire.
Chen Shi retrieved the three-pronged fork, holding tightly onto Chuan Gu’s body, gripping the iron-hard abs with his fingers, to avoid falling off the Black Pot in its wild run.
The fire roared as they sped through, with countless giant volcanoes flashing past and those towering Ghost Gods, sky-reaching Demon Trees, and the Demon Gods perched atop mountain peaks, establishing palatial sects, all becoming mere fleeting glimpses.
Chen Shi looked back through the flames and was astonished to find the stove’s opening just behind him.
"This is some kind of Escape Technique!"
He couldn’t help but be amazed; this Escape Technique was even quicker than his Small Heavenly Circuit travels!
In a brief moment, the scenes around the stove’s flames morphed from a forest of volcanoes to an ice field, yet the sea of fire continued to burn, with no chill at all.
Suddenly, a blinding light shone from ahead, forcing Chen Shi and Chuan Gu to raise their hands to shield their eyes, tears flowing from the stinging light.
The Black Pot also quickly covered its eyes with its ears, continuing its run in the fire.
At this moment, a strong sense of weightlessness came over them, and the two people and the dog fell diagonally downward, crashing to the ground, tumbling and rolling, with Chen Shi bumping his head against a pillar, leaving him dizzy and finally coming to a stop.
Chuan Gu’s head was buried in a flower bed, legs sticking out, and the Black Pot skidded on its buttocks into a palace building.
Chen Shi shook his head, taking a while to regain his senses.
The terrifying scenery disappeared, replaced by gentle divine light entering his view. Before him stood a small, pointy-eared, indigo-skinned ghost, sticking its big head near his face, looking at him with concern.
"You’re awake?" the little ghost asked happily, seeing him awake.
Chen Shi was startled and quickly got up. The little ghost was a young Yaksha, wearing only tattered shorts, with a towel on its shoulder and a gray little round hat on its head, also quite shabby, with its two pointed ears poking through holes in the hat, standing upright outside.
"Who are you?" Chen Shi asked in surprise.
"Master, you forgot?"
The round-hat little ghost said, "I am your servant. Master, I’ve worked here for three years without pay. About the wages..."
Chen Shi shook his head and ignored it, observing the surroundings.
The pillar he had bumped into was a translucent Jade Pillar, without the slightest flaw.
Looking down, the ground was paved with white jade, each jade brick pristine and warm.
The palace was also made of jade, with red jade walls, glazed tiles, golden cornices, silver artificial hills, Immortal Plants everywhere in the garden, birds singing and flowers exuding fragrance, a dragon swimming leisurely in the pond.
Chen Shi was stunned: "Is this my Yuan Chen Palace?"
The round-hat little ghost took off its hat, looking at him expectantly, waiting for the three years of wages.
Chuan Gu pulled her head out of the flower bed, brushed the dirt off her beard, and said, "How will you prove you’ve worked here for three years?"
Upon hearing this, the round-hat little ghost thought for a while, unable to provide evidence, then kneeling on the ground with a thud, clinging tightly to the little round hat, utterly devastated, crying with tears and snot.
Chuan Gu came to Chen Shi’s side and whispered, "Don’t mind such trivial things. They’re little Yakshas, merely errand runners in the underworld, often not surviving to adulthood. You shouldn’t pay it yet; make it work another two years, and it’ll work itself to death."
Chen Shi hesitated for a moment and said, "Wouldn’t that be wrong? Since it’s a little Yaksha I hired, I should at least pay it. But what currency is used in the underworld?"
"Paper money,"
Chuan Gu said, "Mixed with Incense Fire Qi. In the underworld, it’s a hard currency. Little ghosts absorb the Incense Fire Qi in paper money to live longer and grow stronger. But they are underworld creatures, never having lived in the Mortal World, so no relatives burn paper for them in the Mortal World. To earn money, they can only work for the ghosts of the Immortal City, with the employer giving some paper money to fill their bellies."
