Chapter 909: Chapter 911 Tang Feng’s Hint_1

Just as she reached the door of the room, Bai Ruozhu saw Muyu suddenly rush over. Before she could react, she heard a clang, the sound of a hidden weapon striking a sword!

"An assassin! Protect the lady!" Muyu called out in a low voice.

Bai Ruozhu’s heart was in a bit of a panic, and for a moment, she dared not enter the room, fearing she might bring danger to Dengdeng.

"Make sure to protect the young master," Bai Ruozhu said softly from behind Muyu.

Jianqi sent people to chase in the direction from which the hidden weapon had come. Seeing that their initial strike had failed, the assassin immediately fled.

"Master, you’re safe now, go and rest. We’ll investigate and find out who tried to assassinate you," said Jianqi.

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and said, "Send a message to the Commerce Association and have them also look into it."

"Yes."

Bai Ruozhu entered the room and saw Nanny Zhang protecting the bedside. She felt extremely grateful and thanked Nanny Zhang, then turned her head towards Muyu and asked, "Muyu, how did you discover the assassin?"

The assassin seemed to have excellent lightness skills and was especially good at hiding, otherwise, Jianqi would not have been unaware of their presence.

Muyu grinned and said, "I didn’t find out. I just felt that there was danger. The master said this is called a talent."

Bai Ruozhu suddenly realized, she had once been puzzled as to why someone as strict as Jiang Yichun would have an unconventional subordinate like Muyu. Jiang Yichun had said Muyu had his own strengths, and now Bai Ruozhu understood. It seemed Muyu had an extraordinary natural instinct that allowed him to detect danger in advance.

Once she understood this, Bai Ruozhu no longer wanted Muyu to stay by her side. Jiang Yichun needed Muyu more. She opened her mouth to speak, but in the end, she didn’t. Without an order from Jiang Yichun, Muyu would not leave.

After a good night’s sleep, Bai Ruozhu got up early the next morning, holding Dengdeng as they went for breakfast. Diao Yao and Chu Hai came to visit; Diao Yao excitedly said, "Sister Ruozhu, Brother Hai said he’s feeling better and wants to thank you."

Chu Hai was somewhat wooden and cold. He nodded toward Bai Ruozhu and said, "Thank you."

His speech was faster this time, and Bai Ruozhu was sure he had indeed gotten better.

"You’re welcome. I promised Diao Yao, and she also helped save Tu Bai," Bai Ruozhu smiled at the two, "Haven’t had breakfast yet? Sit down, let’s eat together."

While Chu Hai was still hesitating, Diao Yao had already joyfully taken a seat. With no other choice, Chu Hai sat down as well, and the two joined Bai Ruozhu for breakfast.

Chu Hai was still not very talkative. Watching Bai Ruozhu coddle the child and feed him, he looked at her with a puzzled gaze; he probably didn’t understand why Bai Ruozhu needed to do these things herself.

Later, Bai Ruozhu handed Dengdeng over to Nanny Zhang and went out with her second elder brother to welcome the guests; today, they were to host a banquet at the Tea House for Lin Xufei and Gu Xue’an, among others.

On the way, Bai Ruozhu briefly told her second brother about the situation between Gu Xue’an and Lin Xufei, then whispered, "Gu Xue’an is going back to the Capital today. Let’s give her a chance to speak alone with Lin Xufei and clear things up."

Bai Zepei glanced at Bai Ruozhu, "Since when did you enjoy playing matchmaker?"

Hearing this, Bai Ruozhu giggled and said, "I have always liked it. Didn’t I once try to matchmake you with Tu Ying?"

Bai Zepei’s complexion shifted slightly, as if he was somewhat angry, and suddenly, he fell silent. Bai Ruozhu pursed her lips in secret, not daring to bring up Tu Ying anymore. However, she felt deep down that if her second brother could let go so easily, it meant that his love was not deep enough—how could one easily let go of someone they truly loved?

Soon, they arrived at the "Welcoming Guests" restaurant. Thanks to the waist badge sent by Shen Lu and her status as a shareholder, the shopkeeper received them with exceptional enthusiasm and even arranged the best private room for Bai Ruozhu.

They entered and ordered some cold dishes. Before long, someone arrived, and to their surprise, the first to come was Tang Feng.

Tang Feng greeted them with a bow, and then, with a poised demeanor, he took a seat next to Bai Zepei.

After exchanging pleasantries with Bai Zepei, he suddenly turned his head to Bai Ruozhu and asked, "I heard Miss Bai has invented a kind of toothpaste for brushing teeth called ’toothpaste’?"

Bai Ruozhu nodded, "That’s right. It has sold well in the North, and in a little while, it will be available for sale in the South."

"Will toothbrushes also be sold?" Tang Feng asked with a smile, his eyes fixed on Bai Ruozhu.

A jolt ran through Bai Ruozhu’s heart. It wasn’t just in the South; even in the North, not many people knew about toothbrushes. Nowadays, many either used a cloth dabbed with toothpaste to clean their teeth or chewed on willow branches to brush. Could it be that Tang Feng also knew about toothbrushes...?

In front of her second brother, Bai Ruozhu could only feign composure, smiling as she said, "We haven’t decided on the materials for the toothbrushes yet, but there will definitely be some in the future."

Tang Feng nodded, then commented, "My mother opened a tea house. The other day I heard the Commerce Association is pushing for a Brand Protection Law, and they asked my mother to register the tea house’s name in the Commerce Association’s archives. I find this Brand Protection Law quite interesting; it seems I’ve heard about it somewhere before. Later, when I inquired with someone from the Commerce Association, I learned it was Miss Bai’s proposal."

This surely wasn’t something he learned just by asking casually, was it? Bai Ruozhu felt even more certain about Tang Feng’s identity, especially since he said it seemed like something he’d heard about before.

"It was just a random thought of mine. Without the Commerce Association Elders discussing and adjusting it, it would be nothing but an idea," Bai Ruozhu said modestly.

Tang Feng smiled and didn’t say any more.

Bai Zepei observed the two, his brow furrowing slightly. He felt as though something was amiss but couldn’t pinpoint what it was.

While he was pondering, Gu Xue’an and Bai Qizhi arrived. The two politely greeted the three inside, then seated themselves on either side of Bai Ruozhu.

The cold dishes were served quickly, and Lin Xufei also arrived. As he entered and saw the number of people already present, he said with some embarrassment, "It seems I’m late."

Bai Ruozhu smiled at him and said, "You’re not late; we were just hungry, so we came early."

Everyone burst into laughter upon hearing this, and Bai Qizhi, chuckling, patted Bai Ruozhu on the arm and said, "Sister Ruozhu, you really are witty. But I am indeed hungry, so let’s order some delicious food quickly. I heard you’re a shareholder here—recommend something tasty for us."

With a smile, Bai Ruozhu called over the waiter and ordered some specialty dishes, including the snow meiniang that ladies favored, seafood puff pastry soup, and others. Considering the palate of the Southerners, she also ordered some light dishes.

Gu Xue’an seemed to have figured something out and was full of life in her conversation with Bai Ruozhu, no longer the restrained and cautious person she had been when Lin Xufei was around. Instead, she conveyed the demeanor of a lady from a prestigious family.

Lin Xufei’s brow had slightly creased at the sight of her. He didn’t know Gu Xue’an was leaving, nor was he aware that she wanted to make things clear with him; he just thought Bai Ruozhu was meddling after hearing his conversation.

Therefore, seeing Gu Xue’an’s current demeanor, he leaned more toward the idea that Bai Ruozhu must have said something to Gu Xue’an, and the way Gu Xue’an was behaving was for his benefit. Even so, he couldn’t help but be drawn to her current aura; in reality, she used to be like this a long time ago, and he didn’t realize when she had gradually changed - it seemed, it seemed to be after they had arranged their engagement.
