Chapter 633: Chapter 635: Creating Chaos, Someone Gets Hurt
When Lady Li initially discussed this plan, Wang Miaoshuang had some reservations in her heart. But considering it was Beiyu City, and it highly likely that officers would be present at Hua Xiangrong’s press conference, they surely couldn’t be too blatant in their actions. Otherwise, she would have organized a riot at the press conference or directly attacked Bai Ruozhu long ago.
Although this plan was somewhat unscrupulous and sickening, it was extremely effective. As long as the executor was loyal and reliable, the government couldn’t charge them with any crimes. After all, weren’t manure carts allowed in Beiyu City as usual? And who hasn’t had an accident now and then? As long as no one gets killed, even if someone was unintentionally hurt, some medical expenses would suffice.
The manure cart moved forward. Suddenly, several guards dashed out onto the road, blocking its path. The heart of the man driving the cart sank, immediately contemplating whether he should pretend to lose control and rush through.
But in his hesitation, a guard suddenly leaped onto the cart, took hold of the reins of his mule, and flung him off the manure cart.
The cart came to a halt. The guards stood in its path while their leader, who had descended from the cart, stared down at the man on the ground and asked, "Who sent you?"
The man was taken aback. Had he been found out so quickly? Nevertheless, he feigned ignorance: "Sir, what do you mean? I’m here to haul manure out of the city. Why did you seize my cart?"
The leader of the guards stared at him icily, "Do you think we’re fools? No matter. We’ll bind you first, move the cart aside and after the conference, hand you over to the authorities!"
"Sir, I’m a genuine farmer. You can’t just arrest me," the man protested, trying to appear innocent.
"Oh? Ordinary farmers don’t possess martial arts skills, right? Then let’s render your martial arts useless." Without waiting for a response, he punched the man straight in his elixir field. The man screamed in agony as his martial arts were crippled.
From the Bai Family, guard Liu Di approached with a respectful salute. "Captain Zhang, thank you very much. If you hadn’t acted quickly in stopping this man, it could have resulted in unimaginable consequences."
Captain Zhang returned the salute, "It’s our duty. Your young Miss Bai must have forseen something."
Liu Di didn’t respond, but in his heart, he praised Bai Ruozhu repeatedly. Indeed, thanks to her foresight, she had requested extra guards from Lady Zheng at one end of the street and borrowed guards from the Tu Family at the other end, preventing a disaster before it could happen.
However, Miss Bai probably didn’t expect a manure cart to show up. Liu Di wrinkled his nose, finding Yun Xiaorong to be extremely cunning. He wondered who she was serving.
Upstairs in the VIP seating area, Wang Miaoshuang gave Lady Li a significant look. Lady Li sent the maid at her side out, and she returned quickly, whispering something into Lady Li’s ear. Lady Li’s facial expression shifted, and she shook her head slightly at Wang Miaoshuang.
Wang Miaoshuang said nothing but an obvious look of displeasure appeared on her face.
Lady Li hastily added, "There’s more to come."
Wang Miaoshuang pressed her thin lips together and remained silent.
The fashion show continued. Tu Ying appeared again, this time in a sky-blue horse riding outfit. Unlike before, the crocheted parts weren’t covering the outer layer but were sewn onto the collar and cuffs which gave the outfit a unique charm.
It was quite similar to embroidery on clothes, but crochet provided more of a three-dimensional feel.
Tu Ying seemed more unrestrained as she paraded. This time around, there was no trace of nervousness, replaced instead with confidence and poise.
Just then, a maid model in front of her accidentally stepped on her skirt. She shrieked as she lost her balance; she was just about to fall flat on her face...
The onlookers widened their eyes in shock. This was undoubtedly a colossal blunder!
Suddenly, Tu Ying, who was not far behind, dashed forward and caught her in the nick of time. Tu Ying’s swift move, combined with her masculine riding outfit, created an aura of a heroic rescue.
The onlookers cheers echoed through the air. Some even shouted, "The lady-knight is so gallant!"
Common folks not versed with Tu Ying’s identity found her unusually distinctive, and they conveniently dubbed her the "lady-knight".
Tu Ying whispered to the maid, "Don’t be nervous, keep going."
The maid appeared timid and grateful. She nodded at Tu Ying and continued her walk.
Observing the excited crowd, Tu Ying decided to play along. She swiftly used her light martial skills to leap up and flip several times in mid-air before landing back in position.
"Bravo! The lady-knight has great skills!" The crowd erupted in cheers, and the atmosphere became incredibly high-spirited.
Bai Ruozhu, who was in the Hua Xiangrong store, was observing the situation outside. Seeing Tu Ying’s quick adaptability, she couldn’t help but laugh and say to Guizhi standing next to her, "The lady warrior is indeed extraordinary, she sure stole the spotlight today."
Guizhi didn’t respond, but her eyes were filled with envy.
Just then, a sharp cry of a woman permeated the crowd, "My son, what’s happened to you? What’s happened?"
Because of the dense crowd, it was immediately unclear what exactly had happened. But Bai Ruozhu’s keen ears pinpointed the source of the voice.
The chief officer, Xiao, also heard the disturbance and called out, "Stop moving around and stay where you are! What has happened? Stay calm!"
The woman’s wailing sounded again, "Help! Someone’s life is at stake, please save my son!"
Bai Ruozhu frowned slightly. Something was off. If the child was sick or had been accidentally hurt, why didn’t she state it clearly? Why was she shouting such vague statements that could easily invite misunderstanding?
Sure enough, as soon as the words "someone’s life is at stake" were out, the crowd erupted. Some people, scared and wary, tried to leave immediately, causing the scene to turn chaotic.
"Everyone, stay calm and orderly!" Officer Xiao, using his ’Qi’, shouted to maintain order. The crowd settled down a little. Nonetheless, some people continued to squirm and push around, causing more injuries.
Bai Ruozhu squinted. Someone was trying to create chaos, even if it meant causing injuries among the public, hoping the people would blame it on Hua Xiangrong and ruin her reputation.
Having figured this out, she raised her hand, told the musicians, "Stop the music!"
All the musicians abruptly stopped playing, immediately filling the venue with an eerie silence.
Bai Ruozhu stepped onto the middle of the red carpet and announced loudly, "Anyone who’s hurt, please raise your hand and shout. I have experts here who can bring you immediate medical attention. Even if I have to cancel this conference, I won’t let any harm come to anyone!"
